Since I've been having these challenges, I decided to first get my Wii to the most "stock" condition possible and then progress from there.
The following, while insanely comprehensive, also could serve as a guide for anyone else attempting what I am.
Firstly, get the Wii back to "stock".
- Opened ohneschwanzenegger.exe.
- Nand Dump > New nand . . .
- Set Destination to ./Clean nand/nand.bin
- Existing nand . . . > backupnand.bin
- uid.sys > Usa
- OK
- Content > Format
- Entered "4.3u" in the field for wad titles and clicked "Get It!"
- Put 311*****6 in the field for Serial numbers.
- Content > Write meta entries
- Close ohneschwanzenegger.exe
- Open ms-dos prompt > 'c:\wii\nandBinCheck "c:\wii\Clean nand\nand.bin" > nandcheck.txt' = http://pastebin.com/x0M1yTVu
- Copy nand.bin to FAT32 formatted 2GB "SanDisk for Wii" SD-Card with a bootmii folder on it
- Use Restoremii to load nand.bin onto Wii
- HackMii won't recognize the Wiimote at this point, so I booted into the fresh System Menu and as soon as the Wiimote was paired, I powered the system down. (didn't get past the "Press A" screen.
- Back in BootMii, run bootmini.elf from the SD-Card and uninstall BootMii as an IOS. The system resets and hangs.
- Boot with SD-Card to return to BootMi (from boot2) and run the bootmini.elf again to remove bootmi as boot2.
Once that was completed, I booted my Wii with the SD-Card just to test if BootMii was there and would run. It wasn't and it didn't. *success!!*
At this point, my understanding is that my Wii, outside of the error "00010000-3132314a (121J) was installed at the factory and is now missing" and the Wasabi v2 modchip, was as "fresh from the factory" as I could get it.
So, I configured it for use (set the location, time, date, etc.). Once I configured the Wifi, it asked me to perform and update, which I did. I then accepeted the EULA for the Shopping/WiiConnect24.
Since, again, to the best of my understanding, the Wii was as "virgin" as possible (other than my initial configuration settings), I then proceeded to do the following in ModMii:
- Y (first time softmodding, rehack Wii)
- 4.3 (system menu)
- U (region)
- W (Wilbrand hack)
- 00:19:1D:**:**:** (MAC address)
- N (do *not* d/l active IOSs)
- 4.3 (SysMenu to install)
- A (install All channels)
- CE (change Theme effect to "Spin")
- BL (set Theme to DarkWii Blue)
- Y (set up USB-Loader)
- 5 (drive is already FAT32/WBFS)
- 3 (both USB loaders)
- USB (USB-loader save location)
- Y (settings are correct)
- D:\ (set SD-Path to *fully* (not quick) FAT32 "SanDisk for Wii" formatted SD-Card)
- F:\ (set USB-Path to properly formatted 2TB "WD-My Book Essentials" drive (1st partition FAT32 with 32K cluster-size and usb:/wbfs folder with games extracted from Wii Backup Manager in it)
- Y (generate guide and begin downloading)
Here are the steps I performed (exactly what the guide instructs):
- Activated the Wilbrand Letterbomb in "Yesterday" mailbox.
- Installed Bootmii and Homebrew Channel as IOSs
- Installed Bootmii as boot2
- Exited to Homebrew Channel, then Exited to BootMii
- Made a nand backup (since this was as clean as I was gonna get it) and saved to my Dropbox
- Back in the Homebrew Channel, I selected Simple IOS patcher and followed the directions to patch IOS36 to IOS236
- Just to make sure it was definitely patched, I ran IOS236 Installer v5 MOD (probably redundant)
- Then, I launched Priiloader 236 Mod (v0.7(r142)) and installed Priiloader
- Once I returned to the Homebrew Channel, I pressed "Home" on the Wiimote to shutdown the console and booted into Priiloader holding down the "Reset" button
- In Priiloader v0.7, I enabled the recommended hacks (block disc updates, block online updates, replace health screen, move disc channel) and saved the settings
- In the Hombrew Channel, I opened the MMM, ensured that IOS236 v65535 was loaded and used the WAD Manager to install all of the WADs by holding down the "+" button for 2 seconds and pressing "A" twice.
- Once all of the WADs were installed, I skipped the step to install a custom menu because I wanted the Real nand to be as stock-looking as possible. (for differentiation from the Emu nand)
- That should complete the Softmod
Following the Softmod, I tested the CFG-USB Loader by loading Super Smash Brothers and ensured that I was able to save games. *success*!
I then tested Just Dance 4 and I was able to save downloaded songs "properly" to the Wii memory.
This was all as expected and I wasn't anticipating any issues with this.
Now to the neek2o/emuNand/Postloader side of this process.
- I inserted the SD-Card into my PC and used the FC option in ModMii.
- After double-confirming and clearing the SD-Card, I selected option
- S from the Main Menu
- 3 (all of the above)
- 1 (r96 - Featured)
- UD (Uneek-DI)
- D:\ (to select the SD-Card)
- F:\ (to select the USB drive)
- U (nand region selection)
- 4.3 (nand Sys_Menu version)
- Y (install Postloader)
- Y (install cIOS249 rev14)
- Y (install NMM)
- N (do *not* install Priiloader due to neek2o r95/r96 incompatibility?)
- Y (install WiiFlow forwarder channel on Emu nand)
- LU311*****6 (serial number)
- BL (selects DarkWii Blue Theme (no-spin)
- A (All Channels)
- Y (do it now)
Following this process, I loaded MMM from the Homebrew Channel and installed neek2o_NK20_1.wad and plforwarder.5.1.5.wad to the Real nand. I then exited to the System Menu and launched the neek2o channel.
Once in neek2o, I:
- paired the WiiMote
- selected the language
- set the date
- set the time
- set the country of residence
- configured the Wlan (did NOT apply the system update) and agreed to the EULAs for WiiConnect24 and Shopping Channel
- enabled the following System Menu hacks by pressing "2" then "+" . . . Auto Press "A" and Skip Disc Update
- opened the Shopping Channel so I could verify access
After all of this, I loaded Super Smash Bros. and created a new save file. This was successful. *success!!*
I'm now at the point where I've loaded Just Dance 4 (I have a 9 yo daughter. This is the *only* reason I'm using JD4 as a test.
) and I don't know what memory to select when d/ling songs from the store.
With the SD-Card in the system, I'm showing:
a) Wii System Memory
Open Blocks: 1767 blocks
Blocks to Download: 238 blocks
Blocks after Download: 1529 blocks
b) SD Card
Open Blocks: 14807 blocks
Blocks to Download: 238 blocks
Blocks after Download: 14569 blocks
Why does the "Wii System Memory" show as so small? Do I not have the rest of that FAT32 partition available for saves? If I save to it and it gets filled by these songs, where do I save other save games or d/ls?
ie: How is save-game/dl management handled in s/uneek+di environments?
Haven't even gotten to pl4, but I want this situation under control before I move forward.
I'll stop for now to see if there's any advice regarding what I've done wrong thus far.
ADD: I've been able to open SM Galaxy and SM Galaxy 2 and create "save slots" for them. So, I'd imagine my ability to save is available. I just want to know *where* I'm saving and whether there's space enough for all of the save games I'll eventually generate.
