How will it go to waist? The zone will work as intended! You still will not be able to get more them 2 streetpass a day! And people like you will be able to get more people on the street pass inplace of the same hits :D

yes but you won't get the same excitement of coming to the same place every day to get streetpass.

Sure I will. I carry it every day and still will. We're still limited by how frequently we can hit our MACS (8 hours) so I'm defiantly going to take mine in the wild. Not to mention I like knowing I have Puzzle pieces people who aren't as fortunate to do this need and I can help them by spreading the 3DS love. And the likely hood of me hitting anybody from these threads more than once is so slim. I need to Hit multiple people multiple times so they're a higher level in Find Mii, and in the wild is the best place for that.

So basically... your solution is "Go to the nearest Nintendo Zone, no spoofing needed". Awesome...

Did any of you Linux users encounter any trouble using that auto-script? All of my solutions that worked quite some time (heck, made an AP for DS on one of them) stopped being so obedient with the new wireless kernel modules that does not allow mode master. :/
Guess I'll have to try it manually.

well, i created a program to unlock the hidden connection for me. Then i copied the settings down, came to my house and reapplied the settings, now i can get streetpass relays at home, but i only leave it on for 1 hour during rush hour, so i dont get hacked

So basically.... you did the same thing we did, but far more convoluted and it only works with 1 actual Nintendo Zone in the wild that may or may not get hits. Gotcha.

Sometime ago I used inSSIDer to check for Wifi networks and free channels, if someone can get close to a nintendo zone and wants to check their MAC address they can use this software

http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

I'm sure you can do this with backtrack, but i don't know if it works virtualizing backtrack's machine (i have a windows 8 pc)

Just placed my laptop with :46 in a public place so if someone comes through with a 3ds IT SHOULD streetpass with that router

Nice Dica :) Haha I was thinking about the implication of this. Creating open "portable NZone" relays in large public places. Such as hiding a rooted Android phone w/ spoofed MAC & SSID... then people with 3DS's would have no choice but to connect to the spooofed network and share StreetPasses!

Ok I think I get it. You just spoofed the SSID from your public Nintendo Zone to your router at home. So you set up your own public Nintendo Zone where other 3DS owners can walk by just like with that official Nintendo Zones.

Nothing special to kept secret if you ask me ;) I bet the SSID you are using is already known too. Anyone can do this but you have to life in an area where many 3DS owners walk by.

My spreadsheet is getting some serious traffic! 40 users at the same time.
I'm thinking this weekend we are going to have a serious StreetPass hey-day!

Woohoo!

Thanks for the responses regarding the Samsung devices, successfully passed folks on :45 and :46 so far. Going to go up to :50, if anything I'll get them "started". I may post a detailed tutorial for Android later since WiFi Tether seems to be the app of choice.

Kali,

We're doing the same thing as supernova - just with a Global Spoofed MAC - so we can get hits from around the world. IF you just spoof an ACTUAL Nintendo Zone location (such as supernova has done), then you only get hits from that location. It just means you don't need to walk down there to do it.

I prefer the Global method we've devised ;D

This is pretty intense, so I have Windows 8 and I would like to get into doing these streetpasses, I have an un-rooted android phone, would it be easier to root my phone and then run android tether and spoof the mac address or use something on my pc?

He said he did not spoof the MAC. So he actually just set up his own relay with a known working SSID. With this method he could also just turn his 3DS on.

If he accidentally copied the MAC too then yes he did just the same.

Do you have access to 3g? If so go for the root, spoof the mac and do the hotspot. For win 8 I dont know. Maybe try ubuntu live disk
