I don't believe so. Put simply, there are 2 parts of a rom ID. Applying a patch/trimming may change the way that the first part and the second part work with each other, and by changing the way they work together, it is not possible to restore it to the original way they work together.

You can find more specific information here.

I suppose a way around this is to have whoever made the patch include whatever other features you want and re-release the new patch, or release the source code so that others can add things to it and compile their own patches.

After much turmoil over rom patches that only work on Windows, I have created a rom patcher that works in OS X.

How to use:

01. Place a clean rom of the game in to the Rom folder.

02. Rename your rom so that there are no spaces in the file name (ex. PokemonSoulSilver.nds , Tales_of_Innocence.nds)

03. Place the patch file that matches your version of the game in to the Patch folder.

04. Rename your patch so that there are no spaces in the file name.

05. Run Rom_Patcher

06. Wait for [Process completed]

07. A new rom named (Original Name)-patched.nds will be placed in the Rom folder.

As of 6/29/2010, I personally have confirmed that this patcher works with Team Absolute Zero's newly released Tales of Innocence patch!

I made this to work with Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, and I have tested it with both KazoWAR's and Raqib12's patches. In theory, this patcher can patch any DS rom that uses xdelta patches.

Note: I could not find a freezing patch file for HeartGold/SoulSilver. There are 2 out there, but they are .exe files, not patch files. In order to have a HG/SS with the freezing fix, you must either start with a pre-patched rom(Search on Google) or use a patch that has the freezing fix in it.

I ask that the makers of the translation patches add freeze-protection in their patches, or that the makers of the freezing patches make their patches availiable as a patch file.
I love you and want your children.

Sucks there isn't an easy solution. I'll have to stick to Windows for multiple mods. I'll probably just combine and convert them into xDelta patches and upload them for use with this app.

BTW, is there anyway we can get this thread sticky-ed? I'm surprised by the number of views its gotten since I started posting questions this week. As this is the only OS X patching tool out there, one would think it was important or something.

Yeah Windows is probably the best option right now for multiple patches. I haven't gotten into making patches, I might research that if I find some free time so I can eventually make an app that combines patches for use with this program. That might get rid of the problems some people had with Kazo's HG/SS patches. Perhaps even convert patches that don't work on xdelta OSX builds to work.

I'm really sorry to bother you all but I'm pretty useless at all these sorts of things. I have downloaded your program and for some reason I am unable to open it as it is shown as a grey box with some green text in the upper corner. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you so much

I would suggest trying this program instead. It's easier to use.

This will happen with some xdelta patches. It used to happen to me when I tried using this to patch Pokemon Black with the English translation patch. It might be because your ROM isn't a clean rip, but I can't be sure. I would recommend using MultiPatch instead if this script. Its easier to use and supports more patch types.

That means you are going to have to use the xdelta command line tool. I don't know of any linux GUI patchers.

plz help me,
i keep getting:

xdelta3: not a VCDIFF input: XD3_INVALID_INPUT

is it because I have a .xdelta file? Do you need to have a certain type of file? I got a patch for Pokemon Black and White 2, here is a link to the download website, maybe there is something that you know that I don't:

I'm using a Mac and would like to patch Heart Gold with the Sacred Gold patch but I can't get it to work with DS Rom Patcher which is the only DS patcher for Mac I can find. The command line script reads as shown below:

unknownd8a25e95254d:~ name$ /Users/name/Documents/My\ Stuff/Computer\ Stuff/DS\ Stuff/DS_Rom_Patcher/Rom_Patcher ; exit;
Patcher Coded by _Retro_
usage: dirname path
ls: /Rom/*.nds: No such file or directory
ls: /Patch/*.*: No such file or directory
/Users/name/Documents/My Stuff/Computer Stuff/DS Stuff/DS_Rom_Patcher/Rom_Patcher: line 7: /xdelta3: No such file or directory
logout

[Process completed]

I have the .nds file in the ROM folder and the .patch file in the patch folder like the instructions say - I also renamed both of them to SacredGold so that they had the same title with no spaces. There's a .nfo file that comes with it and I've tried putting it in both folder to no avail. There's also a xdelta3 file in the main DS Rom Patcher folder and I've tried putting that in both folders and it didn't work. I got it to work with the Volt White patch, but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it. I did find a pre-patched version but it keeps freezing at random places.

Thanks!

okay, I am trying to put on the english patch for the game Tokimeki memorial girl's side 2nd season but for some reason it isn't working.
I tried using Multipatch, and it said that the output crc32 was invalid. What can I do about that?
Also, when i tried using the DS rom patcher stuff, it didn't seem to do anything.

Can someone help me?
