The Vita port of the cult Wii hit Muramasa: The Demon Blade will be coming to the United States as well as Japan.

The game came out for the Wii in 2009 and was developed by Vanillaware, generally known for their 2D art. They're also working on the PS3/Vita exclusive Dragon's Crown.

The new version, known as Muramasa Rebirth, also contains a completely redone localization by Aksys compared to the somewhat poorly received localization job by Ignition Entertainment. Other features such as a dedicated jump button (the Wii version used the "Up" on the D-Pad/analog stick) and paid DLC for four additional playable characters is available.

No date was given.

I haven't played the Wii Muramasa so I'll be checking this out.

And from what I've seen, it's really a gorgeous game (pics are Wii ver.)

Ohh, me want. The game was already gorgeous. I can't wait to see if they enhance it, though I have no problems with them leaving it the way it is if they sell it for a good price.

What was wrong with the initial localization?
The game is based on Japanese mythology and culture so it felt only natural to have the Japanese dialog and Japanesey screams/whatever.
It suited the overall tone of the game and emphasized the cultural aspect of it in a more genuine way.

Some people just can't stand it when it's not in their language.
I personally don't mind. I think almost all games/movies/anime are better in their original voices anyway.
Also no one bothers dubbing (or even translating) games to dutch anyway so it's always in a 'foreign' language to me.

Loved the game on Wii. But as per most wii games...ended up dropping it for absolutely no reason. Now that it's on my Vita...will definitely play the hell out of it.
Gonna be great.

also

Other features such as a dedicated jump button

SOLD.

Actually, a lot of the text translated are different compared to the given dialogue if I recall, so it was indeed a pretty poor translation. That's not to say it was incomprehensible, but it certainly wasn't true to the original.

Am pretty curious what the new characters will be. Other than that, I don't think there's much reason for me to buy this game again for me. :P

Wow, unexpected. I just built an insane computer, so I'm not sure if this would really beat the Wii version in 1080p, but if it's priced right I may get it!

I was never too fond of the Wii version. Great art and everything but the gameplay was boring as shit. Just really generic button mashing to me and there was tons of dead areas just so you can go "oh look at the art".

I have higher expectations for Dragon's Crown when it comes to Vanillaware but maybe I'll give this game a second chance once it's cheap.

More or less on topic : Is the Vita region locked ? I really enjoyed this game on Wii (I haven't finished it yet) and since the Vita is getting more and more interesting games, I might go and get one

The first game I got for my Vita was Ragnarok Odyssey back when it was JP only.
Worked just fine, so yeah, no region locking.
