Internet rage comes to the rescue again: :P

http://news.cnet.com...-ios-after-all/

I don't believe it was an error, they're just playing dumb to save face.
Mixup?!? How is "playable" any similar to "supported", word-wise?

The news upset me as I recently bought Rock Band Reloaded (not the app in question) and I feared that that app may be taken down too, but it's now a relief that the app won't be unrighteously taken away from me. Now I just need to download the songs before the music store goes down.

The fact that EA attempted to do this just discourages some people, including me, to buy digitally distributed stuff, especially EA ones.

this isn't the first time something like this has happened. just new to this platform. Chunsoft has done this with many of its games (though they at least offered fixes for offline or offsite use). Heck several nds games also have had this done(without the fix). Just nobody really made a fuss over it as the games really were not being played that much.

Woah, why is EA doing this? This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. After reading this all I can say is that avoiding EA is the best way to see it's downfall. A company like EA does not deserve to exist imo.

Which is why EA was voted worst company of the year

It's like with people. For every Good Guy Greg on this planet there'll be at least 10 Scumbag Steves

One possible explanation I've heard for this bullcrap is that the licenses EA hold for the music will expire on that date, or something like that.

Still, leave it to EA to pull any sort of dirty business practice as not allowing people to continue using a product they paid for. People probably did not buy the download expecting an expiration date on the playability. The support and the servers perhaps, but not the actual ability to play it.

It could be they really were going to pull the plug, but the outcry made them reconsider the action and call the message "an error".

That shouldn't matter. EA should not be dropping support for games so soon. They've already done this with other console titles and it's ridiculous.
Sometimes it is understandable. It's not like they can support every single game. Just like not a single company can support every single design or product they've made.

I guess that in this case it's more about the fact that purchasing it new and downloading isn't possible anymore after the deadline, since it appears the download possibility will be offline after the 31st.. A pity if someone has limited space.

ps. What is soon for a game? The App was released October 19, 2009.. That's quite a long time ago considering the type of game in question. Unfortunately..

This is the first time i read about a game not being able to launch over time even offline. That's just bad.
It's possible to launch the game after the date.. It was an error message by EA as stated a few times already in the thread..
Alright i only read the OP yesterday and comment here now, thank you that sound a lot better :)

That's what I expected when I first saw that digital trend coming (No matter what you paid you own nothing more than the right to use the software until they shut down the server/service), I'm glad I have a big bunch of cartridge/disc games, and no EA, you can't disable them by a finger snap.

If that was true then they could re-release it with music that they would have no problems using.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
