I'm pretty sure there is a DVDx alternative nowadays, that's why it was dropped.

That said, only 2008 (very early) Wii's can play DVD's anyways, so check your serial number before even bothering.

You don't need DVDX, but never update past 4.1.

Ok this is the third thread that you state that you have problems with DVD's, can you please check if legit disc copies work on your Wii...?? DVDx is no longer needed at all, as the function as been implemented in several cIOSes, if your disc drive is damaged, it wouldn't be the first one, so please post a complete status report of your Wii and stop making threads with questions that you think is going to give you the answer that you overlooked, DVD reading is not good enough anyway, not even for data discs, just for a couple of games...!! :)

(I mean if you really want help from all of these guys...!!)

ok so hears the deal i got this wii from a freind, it was 4.3 u and was able to play wii original games through the disc loader, and play burnt movies in wiimc, and neo gamma , but was semi bricked as i could not enter into the settings menu the wii would just load to a black screen so i remodded it, did a nand back yada yada yada followed alll the steps. and downgraded the 4.3 to a 4.1 ( so since it was able to play dvds before, but some one ran a disc update by accedent, it reloaded it back to 4.3 from whatever it was previously 4.0 perhaps ?) and hence the semi brick issue) my question is can all these issues and fixs that have happened and been done disabled the dvd drive in any way ?

nothing disables the wii's DVD drive other than the drive itself failing, or the laser failing, regardless of what system menu you are on, or any hacks you have done in all times.
Just chalk it up as a drive gone bad and use a USB loader with a HD and you'll have better results anyways......

either you are missing the necesary IOS/cIOS to load the game or make WiiMC to work, this is in case that you messed up the downgrade, or your disc drive is gone, there is nothing else that will make it work, can you still read legit/retail copies at least...??

Downgrading to 4.1 wouldn't cause the problem. It doesn't have all the anti-homebrew crap that 4.3 does (but all the latest features), so he is just better off as far as the System Menu is concerned.

I've read about people deleting every IOS exept for the one holding the SM, that is what I'm talking about when I say "messed up the downgrade"...!! :P

I use AKG K7XX headphones for daily use, but Meze 99 Classics when I want to *enjoy* the music

I mean built in sound on mobo's has gotten way better but still XP handled sound better and X-Fi was still better than onboard audio even to this day
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Hell not sure what was going on but for like a few weeks MP3's sounded muffled, some driver or Windows update fixed it. Thank god lol

Oh boy Massdrop has $1100 IEMs. Want, but not at that price lmao. https://drop.com/buy/campfire-audio-andromeda-emerald-sea-iem
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'd sooner buy the Meze 109 Pro if I was dropping that much on headphones. I don't even like buds/IEMs
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I got the Google Pixel Pro buds, they're good enough for when I need portable audio. And some really cheap IEMs that Dankpods recommends, I think the KZ ZSN Pro

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'd stick with cheapo Chinese $10 ones quality is actually becoming on pair with name brand since name Brand usually quads the price up anyway loose one bud that's another $200
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
My Pixel Pro buds shit the bed a month or two ago. My wireless charger (which they do support Qi charging) absolutely COOKED them. Caused some problem that caused the case to heat up to 180F+
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
They were like 9 months out of warranty but I hit up Google support anyway and told them how hot they were getting and they replaced them with new ones because they wanted these for failure analysis lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    lol wireless charging
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why I can't bring myself to even spend $100 on wireless earbuds
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it's a cool idea but damn
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Apparently the case has a problem with >15W wireless chargers. Google design fault, that one.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I could live with wireless charging if the damn standard case doesn't block connection
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    how is wireless charging possible?

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Copper conducting electricity or something
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@Xdqwerty, power through a coil of wire causes an electromagnetic field to be generated. Another coil of wire can be set up to harness the power from that electromagnetic field and turn it into usable energy for charging a device

Two good videos from ElectroBOOM that touch on the subject:
