Wow, the download site you've chosen for this patch is absolute garbage. Using Firefox, Comodo, and Antivir, I still had a bitch of a time dealing with the redundant pop-up action from that site. Is it truly that hard to use a clean site like Mediafire? You can create a translation patch for a DS game, but you can't find a suitable site to host the file?

Half a year later...
That's your computer. If you gotta run that much protection, you probably do for a reason. I have zero trouble with just Firefox and my computer is perfectly fine.

QUOTE(omgwut @ Sep 7 2010, 12:20 AM) Does the patch work on the TTDS?

Should.

Not directly connected to the patch but I didn't want to open a new topic just for this.

I was wondering how the japanese monster "マンドラ族" or "mand(o)ra family" is actually translated in english in the final fantasy games (is it the mandragora family??).

And when I already bumped this thread, does anybody have advanced savegames for this game to share ???

Thanks

Did a bit of research at the final fantasy wiki (note I do not have any knowledge of Japanese) and the only recurring mandra- enemies in the series to my knowledge are mandragoras and mandrakes. Mandrakes always share the same name, but are differing monsters. The ones you're referring to are probably mandragoras which are actually a family of monsters in final fantasy XI and final fantasy XII. They're also in final fantasy tactics A2, because that game is set in Ivailice as well, but the wiki page does not mention this. I have seen some similarities in the kanji of some of these monsters, so they might be referring to these guys. Do note that the English localisation took huge liberties and gave them separate names for each type of mandragora.

Here's a disambualgation on mandrakes: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Mandrake
And here's an article on mandragoras: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Mandragora_%28Creature%29

Well, it's the same beast as the one on that site (the small version "human" like) and it's present in this game as well :P

I hope somebody has some savegame.

I've got a save that has about 58 hrs of game play and my chocobo is level 64. Would that work? Just let me know where to upload to and it's yours :)

Thanks

Well, more or less a year ago, I talked to grayFox to see if he want to continue the patch and sometime later I started working on the Popup Duels while I was waiting his answer. He then told me that he doesn't want to continue and that i could "expand" his translation.
This images are actually almost 6 months old, I was planning to release the patch for the Popup Duels on Christmas (that why I had the Chocobo with red hat as avatar so long) but I got busy and some problems with those files. Yesterday, cleaning up some folders on my PC i found those pics and I posted them here. So, I am working on it or no?? AAI2 has priority but I probably can finish at least the PopupDuel with the extra cards because they are almost all already translated from Chocobo Fables. (a patch could be out before summer).
If I will work on it more or not, depends from AAI2, depends from somebody that said that would make a program for me and if it's the case, if I can find a good translator for the text.

Not before i get the program somebody is making for me, not before I find a good translator, not before AAI2 get at least to a good point so in poor words, not in short term (around 1 year).
Anyway the grayFox patch let many things untranslated or "mistranslated" or imperfect so it's possible that from time to time I will translate other parts of the game apart the story.

20111220041622967.jpg
20111220042529757.jpg

Here some example of what the patch let untranslated and imperfect:
-some japanese left overs in the "log"
-some japanese left overs in the equipement that is translated
-spacing in the dungeon names

On the other hand you see that I have already started work on:
-menu graphics: "sort, shortcut"
-status window: "JOB Lv Up, need"
-job names "W.Mage"

So as you see there is plenty of things to do and that maybe will be completed before the main story :P

Eh, I can be patient. Maybe I'll pick up the Wii version while I wait.

I ended up buying a used copy of the Wii version. It' weird but I just don't like it as much as the DS version. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the voices (I usually prefer voices in whatever language I hear first), but the Wii version loses some of the charm compared to the DS version.

I'm just happy that Auryn is willing to continue working on the patch. Thank you!

A new patch will be made? Cool.

Which brings me to this: Will the patch need to start a new thread or just keep updating on this one?
