Hacking Urgent, Please help (error #001, unauthorized device)

hi. i need help, im at a friends wii with firmware 3.2E (downgraded to).

i installed HBC 1.08, ios58 using ios58 installier, ios236 using ios236 installer und all the latest cios (v7b1) using wad manager.

i am using latest usb loader gx, but when loading a game i get the "001 unauthorized device" error (a cyclowiz is installed, updated to the "latest" version which should have fixed this error (mario galaxy, where this error first occured, ran fine).

backups from disc wont start at all (wont get recognized).

im desperate, i dont know what to do, i have a equal setup and all games run fine.

Use either soft or hardmod but not both at the same time (switching is ok)

perhaps the difference lies in the loaders config

im not using a softmod, never did.

Load games from usb, or fix your chip. You only get 001 errors if the game is able to read something it is not supposed to be able to read. (2nd layer for singler layer discs, "3rd" layer for dual layer discs)

I'm almost 100% sure it is the chip that is causing the problem. You can try the latest Gecko OS to confirm if it's the chip or the cIOS.

the chip was updated to fix the 001 error back in time when mario galaxy came out. what to do in gecko os? like i said, it does not load backups from disc at all (neither using the wii channel nor using gecko or usb loader gx).
may i catch you on icq? you seem to know what to do, and i speak a little german^^

No need for german. If i would chat, i'd use irc. Anyways, the principle of the old 001 error(Mario Galaxy 1) and the new one is the same, checking if it's possible to read stuff, you are not supposed to be able to read. The problem is that some chips used some dirty method to fix it, either by a main.dol patch or blocking that one specific read command, i don't know. When such a dirty fix was used, the new protection is still able to tell that there's something fishy going on.

So it's not even loading Mario Galaxy or any other old game? Wii Sports? The old games would run on just about anything that looks like it's able to load games. Do you get 001 error on everything or something else now?

chip is a cyclowiz on 3.6 (latest version since 2007

)

did not try the older games. the problem is the error occurs even if i try to load a backup from usb device (a backup that works fine on my wii), no disc involved at all.

i dont want to get backups from disc running, just usb, but when loading from usb the 001 error appears.

Ah, why didn't you say that? When loading from usb, your chip does not matter. So it's either a cIOS or .iso problem. Make sure the game is not patched, and you are using the latest d2x cIOS with base IOS56. Some of the old cIOS(rev 8 till 20) had some trouble with 001 errors, some used dirty main.dol patches, others throw 001 errors if the loader is loading the games "too correctly".

its the very same .iso that works fine for me, even the same device

like i said, i installed ios58, ios236 and all of the d2x cios.

do i need to install anything else?

Hmm, are you using the latest GX version? One of the ancient versions might have had a hardcoded bad 001 patch, or some other trouble. What game are you trying to load? Some exotic dual layer game nobody has ever heard of? Are you sure your usb loader is actually using the d2x cIOS? Did you try CFG? Which filesystem do you have on your HDD? If it's FAT32 or NTFS, which format is your .iso in? If it's not .iso, what did you use to conver it? Are you sure the .iso is not patched in any way? (being able to load it with something else does not necessarily mean it's clean)

im trying to load zelda:ss, which seems to need ios56 which i will install now and see if that works.

after installing ios56 i can load from disc with gecko os and works fine, usb loader gx still says "001 unauthorised device".
anyway, guess thats enough for my buddy for now.

edit: works fine from disc channel too
