So, unfortunately, I have an HP Slimline S5120F PC which only has a 220W PSU in it. I just have a simple question, do you think my PC can handle a Gefore GT240 card? I heard it uses a very small amount of watts, about 70 tops.

I also heard there are some sort of PSU Calculators on the web, but for some reason none of them work for any of the browsers on my PC, if anyone is bored out of there minds and feels like helping me out they could always find one and test it with my specs with and without the card...I would be very grateful!

Anyways, the specs are:

Processor: AMD Athlon X2 7750 2.7GHz
Memory: 4GB DDR2 800
Hard Drive: 500GB 7200RPM SATA
Optical Drive: SuperMulti DVD Burner with LightScribe Technology
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE
Audio: Integrated audio, 6 speaker configurable
Ethernet: 10/100Base-T network interface

Thanks in advance for the help!

I was also thinking about possibly just getting a new case and PSU for it instead, anyone have any suggestions or could show me a good tutorial on the easiest way to do this?

I would NOT risk it. You do NOT overtax your PSU. A new case and PSU would be much better, though I don't know that much about matching cases to motherboard other than making sure the motherboard's form-factor (such as Micro-ATX) is supported by the case.

Yeah I'm probably just going to buy a new case then or see if I can find an old one hanging around somewhere. I'm pretty sure all you need for the case is to know the form, but if someone else can confirm this that would be wonderful.

according to me you should get a new case and PSU.
i too have a PSU of 220w and most of the new graphics card require power supply of 450w-250w.
without taking any risk you should buy a new PSU and case.

Check your motherboard to see if it is ATX or Micro-ATX and buy a Case that would fit it, you should also consider getting a new PSU, that PSU will probably not run any new graphics cards without shutting off every 5 sec. Get something like 500w or more , that would be ok for your system+ a new Graphics card.

IIRC the HP slimline series use mini-ITX motherboards so getting a case that will fit a mini-ITX can be abit of effort if you want an upgraded PSU but I might be mistaken, other than that I'd agree on not stressing the PSU you'd do more harm than good. Without upgrading the case, if I'm right you'd need a TFX PSU not a regular ATX.

This is a bit of an older one, it uses a standard ATX. Any recommendations on a new PSU? I've only got about $100US, and the card I'm getting is about $70. I know PSU's are pretty cheap, so would I be able to get...maybe a 500W?

Ahh I thought I might have been wrong

, anyway you should be able to find a good 500W~ PSU for around $40-$50 but $30 is abit short I think but I'm not very familiar with US prices. I know quite a few people will disagree but I believe you should be able to find a coolermaster in your budget which are usually good PSUs.

I'd save up for a new phenom or i7 build and wait it out.
The ati 7000 series will probably focus on power consumption again, and nvidia will probably rehash the current cards for their next series too.
Maybe that's something that makes you lean one way or the other I don't know.

You probably have more than a $100 budget to work with.

I don't.
That's why I said "SAVE UP", you'll get better stuff as a whole with more money.
