Just to worsen the blow I reckon Ninty are evil enough to put the 3DSes they've been using at all these shows into the boxes and then ship them to the UK for launch so we're actually paying £220-£230 for used ones.

I know the 3D is expensive but how can anyone justify selling a handheld at a greater price than the 3 main consoles?

Concerning this place (my countrys currency):-
249.99 USD = 94.2562 BHD (3DS Launch Price)
149.99 USD = 56.5522 BHD (DS Launch Price)
(Thanks to XE lol)

Now it says for DS, its 56BD, which was in reality 56 * 1.79 = 100.24BD (As in, launch price of DS here)
So 3DS here will be... 94 * 1.79 = around 170BD (says 168 with multiplication I know...lol)
which was the launch price of Wii (atleast here)....not bad, good enough.

I know I know, retarded calculations, but they may be right. For my country atleast lol.

God, NOE(Nintendo of Europe) needs to learn that you can't just turn dollars in euros. we're paying a fucken 333 US$ over here! +shops want profit, so we're going to buy it in NL for a highly overpriced 280 euros! ...I said to myself I wouldn't use Piracy on this handheld, but this is just asking for it!

First region lock
Now the price.

Thanks nintendo, for already screwing everything up!

I was going to pre-order it months ago but I wanted to wait for an official price.

I predicted $269.99, so I am happy with the price being lower than I expected. I read about the conference in school and pre-ordered in at GameStop on the way home.

pfft no way I'm getting one that price has just nailed the coffin.
I was expecting a £179.99 tag.

Good luck with that Nintendo, see you when you bring the 3DSi or whatever you call the 2nd/3rd revision.

To quote myself on Kotaku.

$249.99 you say Nintendo? Wow, well fuck that, you just lost yourself a customer until you go below $200.00.

I've said it before and I've said it again, no handheld is worth more than $200.00. And with the huge increase in gas prices and fucking economy these days, Nintendo is turning into the new Apple where only the people who have $1000.00+ in their bank account at all times can afford to get their products. It also doesn't help when apparently there are rumors of your 3DS games being pretty much console game prices.

And don't tell me "dude, it has motion control and 3D and can take 3D pictures. It also has Ocarina of Time in 3D." I hate 3D. I hate seeing it in movies, and motion control does nothing for me, it makes the game boring. And Ocarina of Time should NOT have been touched at all. I don't care how good it looks. It ruins the whole "greatest game of all time" picture in my mind.

And I also refuse to trade in my DSi XL just so I can get the 3DS cheaper, not only should I not have to, but because the 3DS is a small console akin to the DSL/DSi, I won't be able to play it for long because of how cramped my hands will get.

Good job Nintendo, you just screwed me over in enjoying another one of your products for a long time. Thanks.

The PSP didn't do too well in that price tag when it first launched, and that did a shit ton more than the DS. I refuse to pay a dime over $200.00 for any handheld, and in my opinion, anybody who does get one is an idiot.

I know this is bad but the only way ill get one is if its hacked.

Here in the UK a 3DS and a couple of games is well over £300! I paid about that for my 360 on launch day.

US complaining about $250? seriously? try the UK price tag of roughly $350...
Change in currency plays a factor -_-

Change $250 to Pounds and you come out with roughly £155
I don't know why they want £70-£80 more?

The uk price is ridiculous. I'm going to enjoy every moment of pirating nintendos games if the system ever gets cracked. Money grabbing twats.
Except for the fact that by pirating, you're hurting the developers more than Nintendo.

(not that I don't want to have the option to pirate in the future, I just wanted to correct your logic)

"nintendo games" As in first party.
