Hacking The Mini YSMenu Generator

Well, after leaving a surprisingly long post on Halo-101's R4 website for nubs about the things I detested about the website, I was amazed that said 13 year-old replied back to me. Although some of his reply made no sense whatsoever, he did happen to say the phrase

It struck be as extremely odd that I would be invited to making a .bat file when there is already R4YSAuto and A2h's YSMenu Generator...but, I guess his invitation isn't totally worthless since it supposedly should include the latest updates, etc.

Now I could totally care less about being in the credits of a website that takes homebrew and doesn't say anything about the author, but what he said sounded like a challenge on my honor or something. So being the competitive jerk I am, I started working on a second program that actually might help more people than just MS2 skinners =D. Hopefully this can change things for the foolish precompile-distributing ysmenu nubs so that they actually do get the stuff from the source (Yasu's site, Spinal_cord's site, etc.).

Anyways here is the Mini YSMenu Generator made by me (woot for second program I've ever made...though not woot for me needing to use Autoit to make it...).

If anyone would be kind as to test out and check if the output is infact working, I would be grateful (since I can't test it with my broken DS).

-After a harsh neck and neck poll on whether Amaro should get credit or not, the community has given the stronger position to not giving credit (by 1 vote). So, sorry Amaro, but to keep on majority's good side, I must follow the poll =D.

Well... it outputs someting that looks like a working firmware, i will test it tonight...

other thing... to try it now i used the unofficial dstt kernel 1.17a12, does that matter? or
i need to use the official kernel? i have a R4ds by the way.

and one last thing about the program, why it wants the ysmenu compress in zip
and the dstt menu in .7z?

Oh, it wanted ysmenu compressed in zip because that is the format its in when you download it straight off of Yasu's site. The TTDS was .7z from their site, so I decided to keep it simple for the people that don't quite know all of the specifics. It shouldn't matter which dstt kernel it is (unless it is one of those that need the fake killer thing...though I never encountered a problem about that before so I actually don't have much information on the fake killer ttds firmware xD)
I forgot to mention it in the first post, but it is supposed to take the latest usrcheat.dat, infolib, savlib, and extinfo from GBATemps very own community xD (thread). I'm pretty sure it works since the filesizes look the same, but I still have never tried it so its just a hopeful guess that it works. The update button works too, though its not very useful if you build ysmenu from the generator (because it does that by itself when it makes ysmenu xD)

lol shyt there is a new firmware for the R4 xD. It looks like ysmenu isn't going to be needed quite as much as before =D (meh I'm still going to work on this anyways xD).

Well, there isn't really much to screen shot...but here is one anyways xD. The most that is shown is a command prompt unzipping stuff and the resulting folder. Apart from that is this nice mini GUI =D.

As for why I type A2h rather than a2h is because its just a reaction (I sometimes try and fight against it, but not really xD).

I believe we have found the legendary link! It's obvious that this person has been living under a rock for the past century! (jk xD)
Essentially, DSCovered and DSKiosk are homebrew loaders, but with the right stuff, they can be viable firmware replacements.
DSCovered you can probably see from Spinal_cord's links since it is his homebrew.
As for DSKiosk, that is the reason why I have the poll up on the top xD. If you take a look at Amaro's r4m3concept thing, it will pretty much tell you the main idea.

Ok, apart from getting absolutely no feedback on if the generator even works without any fancywork, I decided to bump my thread because I would very much like some feedback from maybe just a couple of the people out of the 220+ people that actually downloaded it -_-"...

Reason one for feedback is because my DS is broken and I don't have a TTDS or Acekard to test it on.
Reason two is because it would be a real bummer to make the rest of it work when it can't even set up the main thing correctly.

On a completely unrelated note, a little over 100 people have tried out my MS2 Skin Previewer v1.3 =D

It bites to have to triple post, but this time its because of the probably not highly anticipated update.
So there isn't really much of a difference in terms of anything, but the DSCovered button now works =D. Supposedly it does the normal things of showing the final output in a splendiferous folder called root for all the nubs to drag-and-drop into their microSD, but it also opens up the DScovery.exe application that goes with DSCovered (woot for making it simpler).

Not only that, but instead of being a prat and hiding what I'm doing, I left the command prompts open so nubs don't think the program froze on them and even split the command prompts to two different ones (one for doing the DSCovered things, since there is a lot to extract and whatnot, and then the normal one that fixes up ysmenu). The wonderous part about having the two command prompts is that while the DSCovered one is taking an insanely long time, you can just do whatever while minimizing the cmd prompt and then when the ysmenu one pops up, it pretty much interrupts what you are doing (since it is a new window xD) and then you know that its almost done =D.

Anyways, that is about all I did...hopefully the DSCovered setup will work, since Spinal_cord did say it was pretty much plug-n-play (something about it autopatching...I never thought it was possible xD).

In other news, the second website by Halo-101 (the 13 year old aiming for E-fame in the R4 community, you know the one that posted precompiled ysmenu, doesn't listen to Terms of Service, advertised his sites twice, had both of his sites frozen for violating the TOS of his website providers, yeah that one) was also frozen. I realize that this is totally bashing on him, but w/e I think he really deserves it since I don't really think he reads instructions (I once saw his "precompiled DSCovered" and it was a horrid mess with Xenon++'s inilink and iniboot randomly all over the place)

An idea just popped into my head that might make the Mini YSMenu Generator a little bit cuter by adding a mascot. So I think I'm going to add a poll for what mascot xD.

I used this to setup YSMenu on my R4. I like the R4 having a different GUI, as I already have 3 different acekards so the GUI is getting boring so I don't use Wood. The prolem is, my R4 fell behind my wardrobe so I can't test either.

I think the generator can set up DSCovered for an acekard correctly (for the most part at least, I don't really know if the ak loader that Spinal_cord included works with the latest RC, but in theory it should be able to make DSCovered simply enough)

Great work! Pretty impressive, but I think most people use and prefer Wood R4 now (see my poll thread).
No offense, but I don't think this is actually something people will use. There's already the ah2 generator, plus people have moved on to Wood now.

As for the icon, I'm clueless

But if you want to add one, make up your own. C'mon! Be creative!

Not every one can use Wood R4. Not everyone has a genuine R4. Some people want more options than the a2h generator provides.

on another note, jurassicplayer, please explain the Acekard Menu option, as I have been told that YSMenu doesn't work on AK2i/AK2i Clones >.>

Well, the day I started this was the day that WoodR4 came out xD. So it was technically doomed from the start for R4 originals, but there are still some R4 clones and DSTT users that might be able to get some use from it.
I'm actually not working on my generator at the moment (my previewer is more fun to play with xD).

I actually have no idea about the Acekard Menu option. I made it work the same way as the AKYSauto (at least, I think I did for the most part xD). So pretty much, if stuff already out can't make ysmenu work already, then my generator isn't the magical thing that will suddenly make ysmenu work xD (but it does magically make it easier to make ysmenu).

But now that Yasu has stopped his project couldn't you just have an auto-extract winRAR that contains the actual files in it?

Even though Yasu's stopped, that doesn't mean the people supporting YSMenu all of the sudden turn on him -_-"...At worst, I would only go as far as automatically downloading from his site and compiling it, but I'm never going to put YSMenu, compiled or not, into any folder and distribute it.
