Ok, so in case I died, I would like some people to get some or all of my passwords. Is there any program which behaves similarly like this? (and no, I don't feel like doing a will DUH):

-Every so often, you have to make an "I'm alive" check.
-If you don't do it, you will be notified in different ways (e-mail, sms, whatever).
-If you still don't, the program would trigger a mechanism to send the previously written e-mail/information to the previously determined e-mail directions.

Well?

lol, i thought you meant is there a program telling me when am i gona die, if so, haha, it might be interesting.

I already thought about death too, but in the virtual-world way :
if I die, how would my net-friend would know it, my parents don't even know how to use a computer, they don't know who I'm friend with etc.
most friends don't have my parent's phone number.
Some website I'm working for requires payment for domain-name renewing, for other people maintenance etc.
So a mechanism to alert other people should help (and explains what should be done).

But a software, I don't know. it can be created by anyone, just a few scripting on a server.
but if you really forgot to login-to-say-Hi!, your death will be announce prematurely

but, the web servers sometimes have date errors, (like back to january 1970), that's not very reliable, but better than nothing.

edit :
not that I will use any of these automatic mail sending etc.
I'm more for talking with someone and explaining all the needed stuff while being alive.

It would be deleted in seconds.

It really sounds like you're saying "Hi, I'm gonna off myself and I want people to know!" Just have someone find you and odds are people will find out on the web. Or leave it in your will.

I know you said you didn't want to do a will, but that is exactly what you need. A will allows you to distribute keys, passwords, codes, and the like.

Just curious, why wouldn't you want to do a will? Then you can take care of everything in one step.

@Sefi: Because all I want to do is giving two or three words to a person, and a will would be too much hassle.
@Raki: I was thinking more of something along the lines of every 3 months or so.

I'm going to misuse this. After I die, I'm going to have it send out an email convincing my relatives that I'm not really dead. It was all a government cover-up.

or maybe I'll pretend I'm writing emails from the afterlife.

Those are also very good reasons to have these kinds of programs exist, haha!

Hmmm, you raise a good point.

Then the program should have a delay of about an hour or so. You can't be dead for an hour and then be revived--even if doctors succeeded in reviving you after being dead for that long, you'd be brain-dead.

Problem solved!
