Just modded the Wii I mentioned earlier and wanted to confirm that everything worked fine. The current guide is really a lot better

Yes, isn't that the point of a guide? To guide someone? After all we are video game players, not Wii hackers, so why would we care about happens to our Wii as long as we can play the games on it? There is no point in knowing that and it isn't in any way useful for someone not interested in Wii hacking.

hmm did no one read the forewarning?

This guide was made as an aid for those experienced in the Wii hacking scene.
It does not tell you what each & every program does, just a straight up list of directions.
The guide is based on 1 file packs, which means all the files needed to modify a Wii are in 1 file.
The method of obtaining the files needed for this mod isn't completely legitimate obviously because it contains copyrighted materials [aka WAD files.]
It works, you know where you get the files, if you know what you're doing, go for it.

if your not experienced, use the Complete Softmod Guide!!

Thanks for this, helped a nervous first timer with modding the wii, havnt tried any backups yet but homebrew browser is working.

I got stuck on the whole install ios36 thing in dop-ios mod..... didnt work out that i had to press the right and left on the D-pad to change ios number!!!!

Thanks...

noone is going to do that xzxero
You know that as good as I do

people always choose the way of the least work
that how we are, and that will never change.

@RPG Hacker: Not everyone is here for pirating. Maybe you are, but some other people actually want to do more with their wii's (or did you think only new people use this guide?). And we all know the result of experimenting with to few knowledge: a nice bricked wii.

Theres nothing wrong with more (correct!) information. People that don't want it can ignore it and people that are interested can read it.

You could almost compare it to a guided tour in a museum where the guide says nothing about whatever you can find in it:
some people like you don't care and just watch the stuff there
while others like me want some more info about all that stuff

There is nothing wrong with simplicity, but going in detail gives you more choices at the end

And thats my opinion
If you have a different one, then fine, I respect it.
But at least respect mine too

@ianf1979: what priiloader settings exactly?
The settings menu?

BTW, the only reason it used DOP-IOS v10.1 instead of GP DOP-IOS MOD is because it was suposed to FIX the TBR problems
since many people get problems with the GP DOP-IOS MOD!

What problems ? How many people ?

Someone please make a program that does EVERYTHING automatically so TeenTin has nothing to bother us with anymore.

Look, thats not how things work, OK ?

And Arikado already told you of the problems in the DOP-IOS MOD v10 topic

If you came here to play wii games, don't hack it at all and just buy your games

I just finished softmodding my wii according to this guide. Neogamma works with all of my bought games, but THE WII WON'T LET ME PLAY MY BOUGHT GAMES ON THE DISC CHANNEL BECAUSE IT SAYS I NEED A SYSTEM UPDATE. Why would I need a system update, I'm in 4.2! Also, the wii doesn't automatically connect to the internet when it boots up (wii news channel/weather channel don't work).

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP WHAT DO I DO?

Can someone help me with this problem?

It's because the files on the disc are newer then whats on your wii.Doesn't matter if your on 4.2 or not it's probably checking the ios36 which you downgraded during TBR.

Get pre/priiloader or startpatch and use the hack to disable disc updates.

at what stage of using trucha bug restorer did you get that message?

when downgrading ios15?

when modifying ios36?

when restoring ios15?

normally i don't bother with questions like that unless they also have the needed detaiils along with them, but, eh, you are Canadian to, so I figure, why not.

I can understand you might be getting frustrated, so why not just avoid the thread and save everyone some hassle? Sarcastic comments are not very helpful, nor are moral lectures

I followed the guide and everything worked perfectly...untill I installed Preloader.
Now I can`t get to the system menu at all! I start up the wii, it starts up in preloader and I push system menu. Then there is a short flash and nothing happens.
I tried uninstalling preloader but it can`t restore system menu. Aborting! is all that comes up
Please someone help me?

GP DOP-IOS MOD is DOP-IOS MOD v9 r24 just so you know

But I'm not going to comment anymore about this stuff
I'll just go and help people with problems like I used to do
I was having a bad day yesterday, so I got angry on almost everything

@Xeijin: none of my posts was actually meant to be sarcastic
But if you think they were, thats bad enough ....
