Hmmm... I've followed this guide yesterday and went from a cIOSCORP 1.x (softmii 3.0) 4.0U Wii to a 4.2U Wii w/o cIOSCORP (I used the cIOSCORP uninstaller prior to following this guide) and everything works great, including RawkSD which I reinstalled afterwards, however, New Super Mario Brothers Wii backup does not work anymore (I get "an error has occurred" msg). I did not install the latest version of cIOSCORP again since I have an Argon hardmod, is that why it is not working? Should I install the latest cIOSCORP? I'm afraid to since it plainly states that it is not compatible with RawkSD... and RawkSD is something that I definitely want to keep working.

I did get mixed up with the Trucha restore when following the guide (like so many others lately) but I think I figured it out and got past that part alright, but whats the best way to check if the Trucha IOS's were restored properly? Is there a way to test it?

Or if anyone else has any idea why Super Mario Brothers Wii does not work anymore please let me know. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

you can use signcheck to check your IOS's

did you trucha patch IOS53 for NSMBW

Yes I believe IOS53 was patched in the NSMBW disc I have. I will look for 'signcheck' via google and see what it reports.

EDIT: Hmm, I see 'SignCheck' is in the Homebrew Browser, but lol my HBC is no longer initializing the network properly, yet a connection test works just fine via the Wii's options. Hmm... I'm using rev 43 of priiloader 0.3 and its set to use the system menu ios to boot... in the past I'd boot from IOS 60 in 4.0U w/ softmii 3.0... I wonder if that has something to do with it...

I even tried disabling WPA2 AES wireless on my DD-WRT router and set it to unprotected/unsecured and resetup the Wii on it, still no wireless initialization in HBC... wow... what is going on

EDIT2: Ok, I'm thinking it has to do with RawkSD, cause HBC initialized the network perfectly before I reinstalled RawkSD after following this guide. Anyone else here use RawkSD after following this guide? I guess I have to redo everything in this guide when I have a chance to see if I can get things back to normal

Or restore with bootmii to a previous backup I guess *sigh*. Or if anyone else has any idea if RawkSD, or something else, would break my HBC network initialization please let me know

Thanks!

EDIT3: Rockband 2 online play still works just fine... so wifi is working properly, it's just HBC that isn't working on the network anymore, hmm... well I'll try following this entire guide again and redoing everything to see if it fixes it later tonight

could just be the homebrew browser site is down get it from Wiibrew http://wiibrew.org/wiki/SignCheck
Well my HBC won't even initialize the network (it doesnt show an IP when I press the Home button on my Wiimote). I'm redoing the 4.2 update and will then do the 'modify' part of these instructions as well to see if it fixes it. I will not reinstall RawkSD this time around...

Redoing the '4.2 update' part of this guide immediately fixed the HBC network initialization issue. So it must have been RawkSD that broke things... arrgghh.. I hear RawkSD 3.0 is coming out sometime this year maybe I'll have to wait for that... or go back to my 4.0U backup I guess since everything was running just fine under it, hmmmrph...

EDIT: Well I followed the 'modify' guide here and did everything up to "Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS" and now my HBC is no longer obtaining an IP address again. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I guess it wasn't RawkSD at all, arrgghh... I'll wait for some comments from you modding gurus before proceeding from here...

Note: for the "Restoring the Trucha Bug" part since the instructions here are a bit fubared what I did was downgraded IOS15, installed the Trucha modified IOS36, then from IOS 36 I restored IOS15... does that sound about right?

Also, SignCheck states: "Trucha bug: enabled" "Flash access: disabled" "boot2 access: disabled" "usb 2.0 ios tree: enabled" for IOS250

Perhaps your spam filter is blocking it? I just used it now and received an email within 10 seconds.

Nice work on the updated guide - really handy to have the IOS for USB loaders and its even simpler than before!

Is it still ok to update your Wii to 4.2 via the official Nintendo Update if its a virgin Wii you are modding?

still funny how all people want is for a guide to be simple and just that
which is basically useless since you don't even know what you do and why.
So you can only duplicate the steps.

But if thats really what y'all want I won't stop you

BTW, the only reason it used DOP-IOS v10.1 instead of GP DOP-IOS MOD is because it was suposed to FIX the TBR problems
since many people get problems with the GP DOP-IOS MOD!
Well, I guess they broke it even more then

I just finished softmodding my wii according to this guide. Neogamma works with all of my bought games, but THE WII WON'T LET ME PLAY MY BOUGHT GAMES ON THE DISC CHANNEL BECAUSE IT SAYS I NEED A SYSTEM UPDATE. Why would I need a system update, I'm in 4.2! Also, the wii doesn't automatically connect to the internet when it boots up (wii news channel/weather channel don't work).

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP WHAT DO I DO?

@Tj_Cool - i dont mind it being simple or complicated. I have read the guides on what the modding does so i (think) i understand it. But having less steps makes it easier to do.

I do appreciate the work you guys do though.

Ok I just modded my nephew's Wii....everything was good and installed..

Backups were loading from NeoGamma...but was trying to find a way to just load from disc load channel instead of having to open up hbc and going into Neogamma , so I went and installed cIOSCorp, ever since then the hbc is still there but anything I try to load from hbc just freezes to a black screen. Even trying to run cIOSCORP-Uninstaller freezes to a black screen when selected from hbc?? How would I go about fixing this , or just resetting everything back to stock and giving it a 2nd go?

How do I go about putting a backup loader channel on the main screen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance!

P.S.

BootMii is not on Boot2 its on IOS...wasn't sure how to put onto Boot2
