Could someone confirm that you can use uLoader with an external dvd drive to play GC games on a Wii with the new chipset? This thread is the first I've heard of that. Thanks!

You can't play GC backups over any USB device. The Wii shuts down the USB ports when in GC mode. HDD, flash drive, DVD drive, it doesn't matter, if it's USB the GC mode won't recognize it.

You should be able to, but don't expect to store a lot of games on that.
I can only play 1 game at a time, so I only need 1 game on a card at a time

Ok, please help me, I downloaded a wii game. It's an .iso, and it's 4.73 GB, though. How do I reduced the size to fit on my 4GB?

On a WBFS partition, the size will shrink when it's placed on the SD card.
On a FAT32 partition, the size will shrink when you put the game in a WBFS file. Note that only select loaders, such as Configurable USB Loader, support the use of FAT32.

The amount of space used depends on the game; some games could be 2.78 GB, others could use up 0.53 GB...

With Wode Jukebox you can.

Its a drive emulator. USB Harddrive does not connect to the back of the Wii.

(Like stated before, GC cannot be played through USB on any backup loader)

people are wanting to keep there disk drive and use a usb loader like GX or CFG

Its the only method of playing GC backups on USB.
Sure, but who needs that? It's cheaper to replace the chipset and play GC backup games from CD. Also, I know of a way that you can boot a GC game from an SD card, it would require software/hardware that is $19.99, but it's cheaper than that jukebox thing. I'm testing the method as soon as the package arrives.

This:

and this:

Does not work with the Wii for booting backup GC Games.

The ISOs are not stored on the SD card, if that is what you are thinking.

If you can prove me wrong, I will be happy.

P.S.

Yeah why does no one on this forum ever talk about wode, mine just arrived last week its like the greatest thing ever booting GC from multiple harddrives if your in australia you can buy from

http://www.ozmodchips.com/wode-wii-modchip...ator-p-233.html

official site

http://www.wodejukebox.com/intro.php

Why don't you read the whole thread before saying we haven't talked about it??? We already have.

It's a good deal if you have, like 1000 GC .isos on your harddrive, but it's a rip off for me, because it's cheaper to get

1. A gamecube and SD media launcher (in my case I already have a gamecube)
2. It's cheaper to buy a new chipset for the wii, so that it can play GC CD backups.

And I don't have an external harddrive, so I wouldn't buy it. If you plan on burning GC games, don't get it. If you like loading GC games from your harddrive, get it, if you think it's worth it.
