I have the homebrew channel on 3.0 firmware wii, with usb loader and disk loader.
I wonder, is it possible to update the firmware officially using the internet or is it risky?

I recommend making a Bootmii Nand backup first. There have been some reports op bricks using Wani's firmware updater. (Probably user error, but better save then sorry).
