Do i feel bad about pirating games ?

NO , well thats if i did in the first place!

And it makes me laugh when i read this bull about pleople saying they buy if they like the game.... Yeah right so you buy the game if you like it when its already sitting FREE on your flashcart!

Why do you bother to make these threads and why does anyone bother to answer ( me included ) when quite obviously no one does feel bad or we wouldn't do it so much or at all....... u feel bad then don't do it

That's the right way to see it, we don't hurt (physically) to no one, just download and delete later. LOL, Besides with all the taxes barely you can save something for yourself n_n

This issue is a lot more complicated than it seems to me. In my view, all art and creative works should be universally available at no cost to all interested, and said artist needs to be compensated for his contribution to humanity by all of us collectively ( which means the government ). Pretty much like a teacher on a public school, you are contributing to advance your culture and is not something that can be objetively meassured.

I actually ordered Etrian Odyssey 2 from Play-Asia yesterday, despite having pirated it in the past. Having it for free is nice, especially considering that the only way for me to get the fucking game is to import it before atlus pulls it's usual shit and stops printing new copies. I just felt the need to have the real thing, in this case.

Er... I don't get you. As far as I'm concerned, I only pirate DS games to either "rent" them or to be able to play something I can't get any other way. I can't find a retail version of Theresia anywhere in the vicinity (checked Bluewater, checked Maidstone, checked Dartford, checked Chatham, checked Rochester, checked Gravesend, checked an awful lot of towns). So this is, realistically, the only way I can get the game. I know I've as good as stolen the game, but I don't feel guilty over it considering I already own 72 DS games and will evidently get many more before the console is deemed dead.

I love being able to download ROMs for games, it's really handy. Since reviews aren't all they're cracked up to be, I normally rely on word of mouth and whatnot to work out whether I want a game. With ROMs, I can just download and play the game instead. If, after an hour or so of play, I find I really like the game, I'll go out and buy it. Why? I own 72 DS games. Why would I want to stop there just because I have a ROM of the game? I'm certainly not a cheap person who would rather merely download everything for free. I only do that for music.

Do I feel guilty? never really thought about it, sure I feel bad when a good company(small company/Indie) shuts down due to nobody buying their games. While I love games, I have a nasty habit of not finishing many games,I keep telling myself I will come back to it.(Sometimes I do and sometimes I completely forget about it)

Also If I bought all the games I tried out by pirating, I would be so damn broke by now...there have been times where I download a game for the PC,PS2,XBOX 360 and NDS and play the game for a few hours and totally feel depressed playing the game.

Why? because the game looks good on paper and screenshots, yet when I finally play the game it turns out to be a bad game in general and not very fun.Now that is why Pirating saves me money, If I took a chance on every game that remotely looked good, I would be paying a fortune.

I would buy games more often if the bloody games were not hitting $100-120(Australian)...which is almost criminal!(right now I mainly just buy PC games with a interesting and engrossing multi-player experience as that can not be pirated)

DS Games: $50-80(Insane eh? yet Americans complain about paying $40 for a DS game)
Xbox 360: $89.99-109.99(for a NEW released game, sometimes even $120)
PC: $79.99-89.99(NEW Released game)

Also I sometimes hear the argument that Pirates don't enjoy the game as much as someone who bought it, I have to call BS on that, I feel the same whether I bought it or Pirated it.(Depending on the game, if the game is good..I'll have a blast and if the game is shit, well then the game will be shit regardless if you bought it or downloaded it)

In any case, my answer is definitely not,I have no remorse for pirating games, the prices are way too high and to actually import would still come at roughly the same price.(Not always the case of course, I've imported quite a few games in my time)

I'm a college student, and that means I don't have money to spend on games. I don't feel bad at all. If I had extra money I would definitely buy some of the better ones.

I sometimes buy PC games from Steam when they're on sale, or when I can get a really great deal like Orange Box for $30 on Steam.

And Piemaster, 1 USD = 1.26 AUD.

So, so true. I don't know whether it's the industry, or just the fact that I'm turning into (more of) a whiny asshole, but most games nowadays plain disappoint.
I recently bought Mirror's Edge for the 360. It's a good game. It's fun, it's got a beautiful style. It plays like a rollercoaster ride in funland. It takes about 3-4 hours to finish.
Ok, so I liked it, but part of me (mostly the whineal glands and the moanial axis in the brain) is still pissed that I shelled out cash for something so goddamn short.

Same goes for DS games. There's the shit, the decent, and the fantastic games.
Most DS games fall in the decent category; they're fine, really, and if you're a fanboy they're fucking awesome. But in truth, they aren't worth paying for.
I tried Spectral Force Genesis the other day, after finding out it had gotten a EU release. After 50 seconds of playtime I was about to delete it and rant about how shit it is. Then I calmed down, gritted my teeth and tried it again. Final verdict is it's a decent game. Aside from the somewhat meager presentation the gameplay is pretty solid, and it should (unless you rape your enemies by exploiting the game's flaws) give you decent playtime. It's like Dokapon Journey, only not shit. Problem being, if I paid for this game, I would want my money back.

That's the essence of why I pirate; I can't buy games here in Holland because they just don't show up in stores AND most DS games are just not worth paying for.

I think the problem here is that the DS is focusing wrongly. It started out as a casual experience (I think?) and now it's trying to be a real gaming platform, all pretending it can do good 3D and multiplayer. What a joke. But I'll end this here before I go on a rantpage on what the handhelds and consoles are doing wrong this generation.

I'm pirating them not because I don't want to pay, but because I don't have a lot of cash on my hinds, but little by little I support the developers and buy 1 or 2 games every month
that's why I bought ps3 not xbox360 so I can buy my games, not tempting to download them

Wrongo. It was originally marketed as the third pillar for Nintendo - offering unique experiences for gamers that were impossible on other consoles - and was always a core games console until the release of the DS Lite and the massive shift to casual games. Thing is, by then, too many developers had enjoyed developing for the DS - which is why, unlike the Wii, the DS still always has an impressive selection of core games being released every month. It has always been a real gaming platform and anyone who says or thinks otherwise is the joke.

I pirate DS games mostly for a few reasons. 1. Most games are too short. I beat them within a week and some within 1-2 days. I rarely see games that last more than a week. 2. I don't have the money to spend on games. 3. I can multiple games on a single flash card instead of carrying multiple cards.

It is a gaming platform all along. Like mentioned earlier its a "third pillar". But it may be just to cover Ninty's ass when it fails, they hardly do GBA anymore. And well, nobody said it was a graphic powerhouse. Its not like PSP, which is more of a multimedia device, it has good graphics and good functions and "core" games. But so? Its game librabry is not as good as the DS. The DS may have many shovelware crap games, but its does have many fun games, for casual and "hardcore" gamers. A REAL gaming platform is to have fun games, not games with good graphics. You are probably one of those so-called "hardcore gamers" huh? Gaming never started off with good graphics. So pretty much all games made in the last 20 years were fake games huh?

What a Joke.

On-topic: I actually found quite a lot of games I may buy, since they look good. Scribblenauts is a definite buy. And Starfy, I stopped playing at World 2 just so that I don't get spoiled.

I feel bad, I just can't afford to fork over $40+ anymore. I mean, if there was a really good game, like Super Smash bros for the DS, I'd probably buy it, but for simple games that aren't that great, or feel rushed, it's just a waste of cash. I feel bad, but I can't afford to buy.
