I know I have a low post count but I don't feel the need to ask dumb questions and I read this forum all the time perhaps OCDish.
my creds: chipped my own ps1, crystal chipped and dms4 my ps2s, used the ps2 soft mods, xenogc'ed my gc, soft modded my psp before pandora, softmodded my xbox1 and flashed my neighbors 360, ds and gba etc. all without a post count of 10 on any site, just reading. thanks to the scenes.
for this wii problem:
tphacked 1.0.1 hbc
wiikey2
waninkoko'ed 4.o w/38+ 55 + 58
new boot1 bootmii incompatible as boot2
I used the hackmii installer to update hbc 1.0.2, dvdx, and install bootmii to 254, discovered the broken hbc sdhc so I wiiloaded via tcp the boot.dol from hbc 1.0.1 which the alllowed hbc to read sdhc again, but broke ftpii and any homebrew that accesses sdhc using libogc. so linux media players still worked.
so I read every post about broken hbc sdhc and I bravely deleted hbc using atd mod5 and reintalled 1.0.1 hbc using comexs bannerbomb. still broke. so I deleted dvdx hidden channel and bootmiis ios install at 254 and now my hb apps have sdhc access again. specifically fceugx and snesgx and ftpii all newest hbB versions working.
so how does 254 or dvdx break sdhc access to apps but not hbc? (1.0.1)

sorry to answer my own post, but it wouldn't let me edit:

HBC reloads an IOS < 37 before an app is executed, so loaded apps shouldn't be affected. An exception is when an app uses DVDX. More details please.

answering an unrelated issue, re: including an IOS selector in the meta.xml dhewg explains that even if HBC 1.0.2 is using IOS 60+ is reloads to an IOS below 37 unless the app uses dvdx,

and since I only tested fceugx, snesgx, genesis plus, and ftpii; which all use dvdx, maybe thats the problem. I had the original DVDx installed using the normal install, since I installed it prior to installing my wiikey2. ( i don't think the normal installer installs ios254 with the patchmii_core) geexbox media player read sdhc fine during this problem.

So for further troubleshooting and to help determine if this is a separate issue than the 1.0.2 HBC problem with the sdhc_hack use with IOS 60+, I'll reinstall HBC 1.0.2 alone and then add on DVDX alone then Bootmii IOS 254 alone.

But at this time it looks like DVDx breaks sdhc compatibility in apps launched from HBC 1.0.1 and possibly with 1.0.2+ but cannot be tested since HBC 1.0.2 sdhc use is also broken due to a separate already known and corrected issue solved by limiting hbc usage to
