Added this into the first post:

18-04-09 for testing version:
GUI-FX_1.0-RC2.rar 472.36 KB http://ul.to/fcs2nk
Go into info screen (press B overs a cover) then press 2.
It should download the cover for that game.
It also fixes the overscan some people mentioned.

Let's see how this works.
If it's ok I will make it download the covers for all the games in the list.
Next week will be very hard for me but maybe a new version will come out based on your reports.

Hi maddoc, very happy to have news from you.

I tested this new version. I tested with two games that I don't have the covers (RNVXUG and RQKP41) and my wii freezed when I pressed 2 in the two cases. The two games are PAL games, I think.

I have had to turn the wii off manually.

To be sure I did the network test in the menu of the wii and it said that all is ok with my network. In addition, I tested Opera and it works well, so it is not my network connection.

The covers are no longer cutted on top and on bottom but they are still too close on left and right in widescreen mode.

For the last page, all is fine, you displayed now only the right number of covers.

One deetail, when we press B on a cover, the animation is nice but at the end it is curious. I have the feeling that the animation stop too early before that the info screen appears. The covers stopped not all at the same position, there is an offset between them.

On the same way, when I go back to the 6 covers view, the covers are animated and when they arrive at their position, there is a flash on the screen (perhaps when you display again the 6 covers view after the animation).

Very curious about the freezing.
Usually the first time network is initialized takes about 30sec to 1 minute, depending on wii settings (mainly DHCP takes more), but it never got stuck for any of my testers.
Can you try once more and let it alone for 2 minutes?

I know about the other glitches and will address them in the next version.

When does it freeze? At startup? then you have to reinsert your usb drive. You have one of the drives that are not recognized by default.

For me it seems to run correctly with pages of mario pictures appearing - it will show details of individual games but once it is asked to download a cover it freezes.

First off all I want to say that this loader is awesome! I'm very thankful for your work maddoc!
I really like that kind of gui browsing through the games.
Yesterday i downloaded your second release candidate (GUI-FX_1.0-RC2). I didn't realize, that there was a first. Never mind!
I tried the new cover downloading feature with success. The Loader could get almost every cover.
But there is one game I have problems with: RTFX52 (Transformers)
If I press "B" for info screen and after that "2" for downloading the cover, the loader gets some graphical glitches. When I looked for the RTFX52.png on the SD card with Windows, I detected that the loader downloaded a "RTFX52.png". I think this picture is somehow invisible. Windows can't open it, not to mention that the preview doesn't work.
The "RTFX52.png" takes over 300KB on the SD card. After that i created my own 160*224 cover with success. The loader shows every cover accurately!
If I go to Transformers an download the cover manually, the 300kb file comes again.
Maybe you can use this information.

Wishes for future:
- animated gif as cursor ;-) i really like the star, but a rotating star would be better ;-)
- left/right arrow to get big if the cursor is over it
- klick on left/right arrow to scroll through the pages
- drag & drop games with A+B (like in the original wii menu)
- or favourite games mode (option to show all games or just the games i marked as favourite before are shown)
- i dunno how it's about scaling the covers a little less, but i would be pleased, if there is an option to show more game covers at screen (like 6/12/20)

- 2d covers in 3d (then a lot features would be possible, like: rotating/flipping covers (at the back of a cover there could be some game informations like gamesize on disk..., story of the game, average gamescore of all online magazines...)
- something like cover flow would also be fine (for example all games are shown in one huge circle)
- in this situation (one huge circle) there should be a wiimote support like "pointing at the right side of the screen, pressing B to grab the wheel, spin it by moving the wiimote to the left side (moving the hand faster leads to a lot more spinning)... that would be awesome
- maybe list view (but i don't know wheather i really want that, after the nice utopia about wheel spinning)

So, enough devised! I know that this means A LOT of work.

ok so today it works better. I don't know why except that i reboot my rooter.

I was able to load several covers BUT after the two first I tried to load the cover of Anubis (RNVXUG). It didn't work : the cover disapeared. An empty space appeared instead of the mario picture and not the cover of anubis. After I tried to navigate forward (+) and when I tried to go back (-) the loader crashed.

I have had a look on the sd card and surprisingly the cover of anubis is there (i am not sure that it was there before but I am quasi sure that it was there) but with a different game id (RNVP5Z) and a png file with name RNVXUG is now present. But the file is only 315 bytes long.

I did again a second test and same thing, the first covers worked well and around the third one, the same problem.

I hope this will help you.

Thanks ulysse for pointing it out, problem is now solved.
Both covers mentioned (transformers and anubis) were corrected, also the server now provides a semi-transparent cover that mentions that no cover was found on the server.

I am taking requests for covers here. You must provide the game ID and title for the missing cover.
You will be able to re-download it by pressing 2 at any later time.

Happy to hear this. I downloaded anubis, and it is ok now.

I have two missing covers:

RKIPUG (Kidz Sports Ice Hockey)
RLTXUG (London Taxi Rush Hour)

But I have a bug:

My disk contains 66 games so 11 pages of 6 games. BUT I have 12 pages !

The eleventh page is :

g1 g2 g3
g4 g5 g6

with gi the 6 last games of my disk in alphabetical order.

Surpisingly I can access to a 12th page displayed as follow :

empty empty g3
empty empty empty

So no ther cover than the g3 one. When I push button B, I have the information screen with correct free, used and hdd information BUT ID is blank and the title of the game is not displayed. I can go back to the 6 covers scrren by pushing button B.

And now, if I go back (-) or go forward (+), the loader craches.

Got it, will have a look at it soon.
RKIPUG and RLTXUG are added to the game list.

QUOTE(ulysse57 @ Apr 19 2009, 10:55 PM) Did you have had a look to this topic : http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=147...p;#entry1921502 ?

djtaz updated his script: you just have to set width/height as a param in the url to get the relevant picture resized. For example :

http://www.theotherzone.com/wii/resize/nts.../600/RJ2E52.png
It goes by :
http://www.theotherzone.com/wii/resize/ {region} / {width} / {height} / { GAMEID} .png

This can be very interesting.

If there is no original image to rescale then the returned rescaled image is broken and will crash the loader. Will stick to the current server for now.
Once a day it gets updated with new images posted on theotherzone.

ok
QUOTERKIPUG and RLTXUG are added to the game list.
I already added them, it worked fine.

Now, I will wait the next release. Your loader is really good and easy to use.

Do you have yet an idea to improve navigation across pages ?

No idea yet, will have to implement precaching of pictures to allow for more games/page.

This should fix the last page bug/error, please test it out.

20-04:
GUI-FX_1.0-RC3.rar 473.92 KB http://ul.to/9eh96d
Go into info screen (press B overs a cover) then press 2.
It should download the cover for that game.
On main screen press UP and 2 to download covers for all your games.

Yes more games/page could be a very good option (12 seems to be usable, 3 lines and 4 columns).

But I think about a sort of slider or preview page. Instead of displaying the covers, it woulb be possible to display the title of games. I assume that this can be very fast and possible to do while manipulating the slider. Someone has perhaps a better idea or an improve way to do this.

I tested the RC3.

I still have the 12th page error exactly as before (with two covers missing among all my 66 games that were replaced by your mario missing cover). I even have a page before the first one. In this 0th page, I have one "not find cover" on top right. After it is the same than the 12th page, when I use + or -, the loader crashes.

I started the downloading of the covers for all my 66 games while only two were missing (with up and 2 on the main scree). The dowloading was very slow. Do you test if a cover is yet present in the sd card before to download it ? I ask this because only two covers were missing and it seems to download all.

And around the 36th cover, the loader crashed with a dsi exception.

I ran again your loader to check the result after the crach. It seems that you tried to download covers yet present because some present before are missing now.

Another thing, I assume that you don't download in alphabetical order but in the order on the HDD because some covers are missing now after the 36th game. Isn't it ?

I will give you the ID of the missing cover tomorrow and I will test again by removing all the covers.

After browsing the games on the disk i press (-) at the last page and got stack crash.
The small arrows pointing right and left are great - all you need is to add some functionality to them :-)
