I know that I was just wondering where the next competition is
Speaking of which, my entry:
Note: names of sites hosting roms have been censored-I wouldnt want to break the rules!
"Once upon a time there was a girl who liked to game but WOE she did not have the money to buy them.
Acting upon the advice of friends, she invested in the magic "flash cart" for her DS and lo and behold, the wonderful world of unlimited DS games was open to her!
But truly, such things are not entirely sanctioned, so where was this poor girl to go for help?
In vain she searched for a place that could keep her up to date on the latest DS game and homebrew releases, rom hacks, translations and various other helpful information.
Many sites she sought, but all hope was quickly waning!
First she tried *****, but was quickly and rudely snubbed when asking for help. Discouraged but not defeated, she returned to her search.
Next she tried DS-Scene, but the forum was slow, the answers were unreliable and oft was she rudely flamed. Once more discouraged, she once again sought the all-knowing help of Google.
Her search now led her to DCemu, but the site was so huge and cluttered, it ran slowly and unreliably and often didn't even have the information she was looking for. Displease, she returned to Google.
Her next attempt was Ds-***-***, but it offered her nothing but a release list. Highly dissapointed, she was beginning to lose faith in Google, but tried again.
*****-*** came next, but both forums and updates were slow, so yet again she returned to her search, beginning to believe it in vain.
***-***** was next but still, nothing more than a release list.
Despairingly, the girl made one last Google search, believing her efforts futile.
Skipping past those she had already tried, what should appear on the second page of results but Gbatemp!
Her curiosity aroused, the girl hesitantly followed the link, not daring to hope that her desperate search might finally have come to an end....
With heart pounding and anticipation growing, she slowly wound her way through the sign-up process....
As she explored the site, her excitement grew! What a wondrous place!
Rom release list, updated constantly! Homebrew news, gaming news, user submitted news, all the latest and most accurate information about flash carts and homebrew updated morning noon and night!
Tutorials layed out simply in easy to find places, helpful users in every forum, good natured, quick acting mods and strict noob control, oh it was heaven! Flames were promptly removed, offending users banned and rules enforced justly!
And entire forum dedicated to guides! A subforum for every flash cart! A forum for rom hacks and translations and oh how many of those there were! An entire thread dedicated to the collection and easy use of AR cheat codes compiled for every flash cart! Dedicated forums for homebrew, wi-fi, emulation, hardware and even general game help!
But truly, the best parts? The girl was never snubbed or blown off when asking for help, and should any game have a problem running on any flash cart but lo and behold but Gbatemp would leap to the rescue foiling piracy protection time and time again, and all would let out a resounding cheer, having reconfirmed to themselves that they had found a place to call home, and the girl cheered too.
Her search was over, her hopes fulfilled.
And to this day, every day, the girl logs online and the first thing she does is check gbatemp while drinking her coffee, for truly there is no other way to start her day.
And on those horrible days when the site has problems or her internet is down, her heart cries and she paces in anticipation of the moment she can once again reacquaint herself with the magic of Gbatemp.
She even wrote a poem:
Oh Gbatemp, how I love thee.
Without you I would be quite lost, you see.
Your well layed out forums and much helpful tempers
Will keep me coming back and even bringing more members.
