*ponders for a while*

What makes GBAtemp great?
*chuckle*
That might be one of the easiest questions I've ever been asked.

Let's see:

....It's not the ever-admirable Admins and Mods.
Much as I respect our wonderful staff, who keep this area clean and clear of both the inane and the insane,
they are not what makes GBAtemp an incredible place to take up residence.

It's not the common topics of conversation.
Many of those posted in this day are only fit for the EoF,
and even then just barely so.

It's not the popularity of the site.
I could easily do without a great many of our Spamalot contributors.
Some of them are good people whom I happen to have a lot of fun messing around with,
but for the most part, they aren't what keeps me here.

I could list a great number of people whose style I admittedly admire,
and tend to unabashedly emulate,
but these people aren't my reason for joining this crew, either.

What makes GBAtemp a wonderful place is the people.
The long-term members;
the Regulars;
The ones who everyone knows,
even though they hold no special titles.

When I first worked up the courage to speak in our forum,
I wasn't simply laughed off,
nor immediately put down,
as I would have been in other places.

I was welcomed warmly with kind,
prompt,
and pertinent advice.

And from what I've seen in my six months in your midst,
I am far from being alone in that experience.

Our members often inspire me to be more than I am at this point.
I now choose to learn more about the subjects which I once had no interest in researching.
And this is entirely because I want to contribute to this awe-inspiring internet community.

All of you, as a whole, have assisted me in a great many ways;
whether it be to get my hardware or software working properly,
or even just to pick me up those times when I'm feeling down.

GBAtemp is MY community,
My Home,
and I'll be God-damned if I'll allow Anyone
or Anything
to draw her into the stagnant cesspool of stench
that the rest of the internet is quickly becoming.

In short,
GBAtemp,
I'd like to say Thank You,
from our Littlest member, to our Juggernauts.

Thank You One And All.

Not even half way in and you're already handing out flashcards.
You guys must be storing some heavy stuff for the last days, as I thought flashcards were going to be the big prizes.

Only thing i can say about GBATemp is there are too many n00bs, which isn't necessarily bad but they always ask the same stupid questions, we need some sort of competency test on registration (like a reading test for example).

Other than this place being n00b central, its a great place to hang out and chill, keep this place awesome.

Heres my review of this wonderful place
its like a case with alot of cakes

Everything you want is right here
from flash carts to gaming gear

I never thought it could be so fun
because once you log in your never done

the members are so kind in this land
that if you leave them itll be like your down in the sand

Gbatemp serves as a second home
where you could never ever possibally feel alone

Its like another world
where gaming is as precious as a pearl

When you log out you fell bad inside
because you just left your whole life behind

The staff is so caring for you
that they dont deserve 1 star but 2

I wish i could stay forever but i cant
because every day i gotta wash my pants

Finally i end by say it once
Gbatemp is better than lunch

GBATEMP RULES!!!!!!!!!

GBAtemp is a most wonderful place,
It can be perused for game info,
and put a smile on your face.

Most people are nice,
Some people are great,
But I mostly visit GBAtemp,
For its wonderful traits.

I can find what I need,
In a short bit of time,
While browsing for Wii,
I can still make this rhyme.

It's ease of use,
Has made me feel cozy,
And that is why,
To GBAtemp I mosey.

I can spend my time,
Reading about Wii,
Or laughing at good posts,
By some like BoneMonkey.

Although I'm a n00b,
To this wonderful site,
I'm thankful for it,
For its purest delight.

Here's my entry-

GBAtemp. Where to start.

I’ve had a long and drawn out past on this wonderful interconnected web of information. I’ve been a part of many different communities. I’ve had my fair share of AOL, Powwow, ICQ, forums, chats, irc servers and websites full of all kinds of wonderful (and disturbing) content. All of my past net experience began in 1996 when i found out about chatting with someone in Australia, Thailand, Canada and Turkey, all at the same time.

The weird thing, i haven’t fallen into such a solid collection of people in YEARS. Now we have our fair share of spammers and trolls (looking at you Hadrian) but even those that can be a dick, are still considered part of the Tempers clan. Hell since the (forced) departing of the infamous BoneMonkey, that little avy still makes an appearance on a half-regular basis. Its good to see a close-nit group of geeks (extremely like-minded geeks, at that) keep on decent tracks w/out TOO many bitter fights. And even if they happen, i’ve seen more than enough apology posts started to “publicly” apologize, which i believe to be a decent sign of character.

Hell, even if a thread can be completely derailed (like that ever happens
grog.gif
), everyone seems to have a fun time. And if not, well, they don’t come back (or get shitcanned for being a douche), and that just leaves the good ones to stay and have fun.

I could go on a longer rant post about how helpful people have been, or how i’ve watched newbs become good contributing members (insert p1ngpong quip here
yaypsp.gif
), but thats a whole different post for a completely different contest
tongue.gif

All in all, the House Of Temp has been a wonderful little wet-spot on this carpet known as the world wide web, and i’ve been enjoying the hell out of adding to that mess.

Keep up the great work, both fellow peon members and the godlike mods of this site (...was that a bit too much ass-kissery?
wink.gif
), and i’ll keep coming back for more.

Much HRTH,
WildWon

(Even though there was, what seemed like, a good amount of brown-nosing in this, it was very much meant with honesty. ...well, cept for that “godlike mods” part... they’re ok enough for me
biggrin.gif

@Vulpes - Shit man, fantastic writeup. Again, i didn't read others' examples, and once more, mine pales in comparison! I haven't read all the posts in here, but damn, kid. I think this one is yours! Keep it up, killah!

gbatemp taught me how to make codes over the olidays and i gained a friend and contact in msn and i learnt about smurfbear and 4chan. end!
and good ds games.
and cool transalations
