I completed 1 and 2 not long ago and got kinda annoyed as those old games were not only hard but also confusing... I did start part 3 (of course not the remake) but at some point I just didn't really want to go on.

Got stuck so often in the previous ones even with faqs as I often didn't know where to go or what to do and it didn't feel any less confusing in part 3.

Do they have any modern helpful features like optional quest markers or build in hints or something like that ? also is the remake as grindy as the originals?
With part 1 and 2 some people were like "yeah I easily did it on level 18" while I couldn't even beat the final boss on 26 xD

3 was a big jump forward for the series. It still has grinding but far from the level of 1 and 2, Lot more obvious where you have to go so you won't be wondering around for hours trying to find out where to go, and is just overall a big improvement.

none of the first three, the android ports on the switch (where I played them) were too bad; even the grinding wasn't that bad. I only had to consult a guide once, and that was with part 3 ironically. I don't consult guides with any games until I've beaten them, but this was to get the sun stone. I had crossed the world multiple times trying to find it, at least I think it was the sun stone.

it so happens to be through a hidden wall. you have to hug the left corner of one of the walls in Tantagel or whatever castle to find the room with it. I don't remember the one on the nes, so I was stuck on that for hours. it's hard to see the doors in this remake, except now they have red carpets in front of the doorway, so even if you can't move the camera to see the doorway, you'll know it's there.
