Witnesses claim Billy's reputation was already poor before Karl posted the video about Apollo Legend's suicide. The trial will continue on Friday.

Now I'm picturing just an endless queue of random people being called up to the witness stand to testify one by one that yes, they already thought Billy Mitchell was a right dickhead.

Billy winning would set a fucked up precedent that would enables frauds like him to silence those who call them out. Half of this thread is somehow too immature to figure that out.

Lots of hate directed at Karl here too, not sure what is yall's problem with him but all he does is call out liars and cheaters. How is that bad? Did he diss you guy's favorite fake speedrunner or something?

Don't get me wrong, I want Karl to win. Unfortunately, he is a sensationalist who has built his following out of turning nuanced situations into black and white. My breaking point was during the completionist exposé, a lawyer came out and said "there is some legal nuance missed here. Clearly this is a messed up situation but he might actual have a defense in a court of law" and he released a 1 hour video smearing the guy.

Because he’s a piece of shit. He’s the typical guy with no talent who became rich by taking other people’s projects and “commenting” on them, while getting sponsored by shady companies at the same time using predatory tactics to attract the weaker side of the population, claiming that “a man has to eat” (he earns tens of thousands per month, guy’s definitely not starving). He’s yet another YouTuber grifting his way to the top by ragebait, taking a random guy, whose worst crime was being a douchebag, and act like he’s a fucking murderer, to get that sweet engagement and ad revenue, conveniently forgetting that, before Apollo Legend died, his last controversy wasn’t with Billy Mitchell, but with DarkViperAU, another shitty YouTuber whom Apollo Legend called out because he didn’t pay his editor and DarkViperAU essentially turned his fan base as personal army against him, while other YouTuber grifters all ganged up on Apollo Legend to get that sweet sweet ad revenue by acting like an even shittier version of TMZ.

By the way, speaking of “fake speed runners”, remember the South American guy he made fun of for several videos? Karl was sooooo dedicated to make fun of him, all and all except for one particular detail: he made a follow-up video some time later, explaining why he made that obviously fake speedrun and apologised. Karl never mentioned it, but why would he? He’s after the $$$ no matter how many lives he tries to ruin over petty things. The people following him are no better than the brain dead kids following garbage like Drama Alert or TMZ or whatever else people watch nowadays like monkeys at the zoo. It’s funny how you claim that “half this thread is too immature” when you follow a millionaire that became rich by exploiting others.

I want Karl to win because certain aspects of Billy's character are strikingly similar to that of my father who I absolutely fucking despise. I used to think of Karl as a fucking paladin, both brave enough to take on the narcissist and skillful enough to win. As time goes by I have increasing doubts about Karl's own character but see him as the lesser of the two evils.

According to an article published yesterday summarizing the case:

The court was also told before the video [of Karl accusing Billy of motivating Apollo Legend to commit suicide] was published, Mr Mitchell was attending 20 to 25 gaming appearances annually but that number dropped to four to five appearances a year since its publication...

Judge Ken Barlow has reserved his decision.

It looks to me like Karl will lose. Not sure when the judgement will be decided.

I'm not huge on Jobst either, but let's not act like Apollo Legend was a saint. Dude was making the exact same brand of speedrunning shitflinging dramafodder as the rest of them.
DarkViperAU had called Apollo out for defending his white supremacist buddy RWhiteGoose that got banned from GDQ; the reason Apollo had put DarkViper on blast for not paying an editor is because of pre-existing drama between them, disregarding the fact that the reason the editor wasn't paid is because he didn't do the work.

Apollo Legend wasn’t a saint, but didn’t deserve any of that. And DarkViperAU essentially used his fanbase as a personal army that caused the suicide of an individual and he 100% got away with it. Now Karl is trying to pinpoint the whole thing to Billy Mitchell whom, again, the worst thing he did was being a jerk, but never used his fanbase to push someone into suicide or anything as nefarious as that.

If you accuse me of something then I’m going to defend myself, but I’m not going to use my fans to attack you until you can’t take this anymore. Guy should’ve been blasted off both YT and Twitch, but money talks I guess.
