Okay what the hell is "trauma dumping" that not even best friends are allowed to do it?
I was under the impression it was just a term for talking about problems or confessing to issues because friends are supposed to be moral support.
Am I wrong, or is that really some uncrossable line?

Trauma dumping can be, for example, if someone is frequently giving the same account of a traumatic incident or bringing up previous trauma in talks with others, which are warning signs of this. When someone intentionally uses it to gain control over you, it can become emotional abuse.

That's emotional blackmail then. Any kind of behavior is toxic if it has strings attached. Trauma dumping by itself is not negative, it's just, as youths these days would put it, cringe.

  • Rape comes to mind, i don't think that's okay to do to your best friend.
  • Murder comes to mind, i don't think that's repairable damage in your relation towards a best friend.
  • Torture comes to mind, but it depends on the how and why.
  • Theft is a thing, but that's debatable.
  • Winning in Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System is also known to kill these kind of friendship relations.
