I remember collecting GameInformer arcticles back in the day, but it was at some point that I forgot that we started to not get them anymore. Hearing about the gaems that I always wanted to get was fun, but i guess those days are over. The internet is really taking over everything we all know and love.

Back in the day, Game informer got me through study hall in high school it's a shame what they became though, so I'll choose to remember the good instead of the bad R.I.P.

Sucks for the employees, though - from what I hear, it was an incredibly sudden demise, with the crew just told the most recent release would be the last, and the GI website replaced with a landing page, with no time to actually preserve the 3.3 decades of history or anything.

Also, Reggie FA? Previous Nintendo of America guy? He used to be on the GameStop board of execs, but left when they refused to listen to his advice - even a man of his knowledge and history was ignored. No wonder they also ignored their employees...

Gameinformer came in about the same time EGM stopped. That was a great magazine that touched on all game systems. Crazy 30 years pass just like that!
I really miss EGM, Shoe was one of my favorite editors the magazine had. He always had good stuff to read about.

could've seen this coming with gamestop imploding and bleeding out slowly
As much as GameStop sucks, it would suck even more for me if they go under because I don't have any other game store chains in my area... GameStop has the monopoly here in the Pacific Northwest. The independent game stores in my area primarily focus on retro games and not the new stuff.
