Metroid Prime 4 gets new trailer, releases next year

After all the waiting, Metroid Prime 4 has finally gotten a new trailer. A two-minute teaser shows off some long-awaited gameplay, and the visuals. The game also now has an official subtitle, and is now called Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. A full release date hasn't been confirmed, but Nintendo has locked the game in for a 2025 release.

Well, I wholeheartedly believe in paying the devs if it’s a good game. Metroid and Zelda will ALWAYS fall into this category. Prime didn’t have any copies remaining at my local shop, and ToTK was released while I was out to sea (but available for download early…), so I downloaded both of those and finished them. THEN I bought them after the fact.

With that said, there’s no way I’m paying twice for the same game at the same time. If there is a Switch 2 release along side a Switch release, in a different cart, I’m for sure buying it for the Switch 2 and downloading it for the Switch.

At least I’m honest about it…

If Nintendo aren't being greedy a-holes, the Switch cart will run just like the Switch 2 version when it's inserted into a Switch 2, and download any additional files as necessary. This is Nintendo we're talking about here, though, so...yeah.

Looks pretty nice.

To Everyone Bitching how outdated it looks: Its for the Switch. A console that was generations behind tech wise at its release so what do you expect? Nintendo does not do Bombastic Graphic releases.

Really mixed feelings here.
Playing Metroid NES since I'm 6 and all....First MP4 trailer in 2017, so seven years later ?

Full scale battle IS NOT Metroid. It is Halo or whatever, FFS.
They made this very mistake on MP3 which was lame at best (samus do this, samus do that). Besides scarce high notes, Retro studio was already out of ideas. Well, Nintendo updated Metroid to 'modern audiences', labyrinths aren't as popular as 'in your face' shooters.

The second part of the trailer definitely confirms my feeling:
it seems to want to rectify this mistake by trying to appeal hardcore fans with exploration and mystery, no bang bang crap. This game is not for me.

For fans:
Metroid DREAD is excellent, MERCURY Steam studio is very, very talented.
Metroid Hack (prime trilogy) runs flawlessly on Steam Deck, so all fans are happy.
Yuzu is still lurking around so, if this is a cross gen title, well...

This will be on the new Nintendo system next year. It didn't have a Switch logo at all nor was confirmed to be releasing on it now.
Switch 1 and 2 more likely

1. It's not the final product
2. Nintendo games don't exist to give someone a graphics boner, they exist because some of the best gameplay there is
Pretty much all Nintendo games in recent times

I hope it would play like the borderlands games or at least make it challenging, I'm playing the remake now and it's putting me to sleep.

My initial feelings:

>curiosity
>non excitement
>to much nostalgia pandering (musc, sfx, scenes)
>felt more like Call of Duty
>doesnt feel fresh
>i saw nothing new
>graphics are exactly as prime remastered
>waiting for actual normal trailer

They said in 2017 that this will be a Switch game.

Bitching Complaining how outdated it looks
There, i fixed it.
Complaint is a valid for mof criticism, saying "bidching" deminishes teh criticism that is valid.
It does look outdated and people are right about it. Fact is that it IS for the switch but its also a fact that its outdated.

The few people who are complaining don't seem to get that this is not the finished game. This is an early preview.

I hope they don't mess this one up.
I was just waiting for some genius like you to write something like this. How long has this game been on and off and cancelled, restarted, like 10 years???

This looks like it wasn't even made now, like it's some leftover from 1-3 production. Surely Switch is capable and supposed to output better graphics then game cube and wii did, shouldn't have any more small, tight spaces so graphics wouldn't suffer. This looks very, very outdated, everything about it looks like 2-3 generations behind.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

Metroid Prime remaster looks pretty, and this looks exactly like prime remaster: pretty. I don't think that is a bad thing, the graphic quality is not the problem for me.

But regarding the "felt more like Call of Duty" and "doesnt feel fresh" criticism, I can see where are you coming from and I want to see more, another trailer, sadly I may agree with you on this. It felt like too much guided action and not enough exploring and puzzles in this trailer.

Here's what I think. Switch 2 enhanced for $70 and switch for $60

You will have the ability to upgrade to switch 2 version if you insert $60 version into switch 2. Likely will be a $10 upgrade fee
