The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 LEGO Set officially announced

Last year, there were rumours of a Zelda-themed LEGO set which mentioned a 2-in-1 set including the Great Deku Tree and characters/pieces to build a setting based on either Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild. But as rumours go, this one had to be taken with a grain of salt as not much came out of it for over a year. However, there were some truth to this rumour as this week, Nintendo has revealed that particular set, which can be seen in the image above.

This 2,500-piece set can either be built as the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It also includes other sceneries such as the Master Sword pedestal from Breath of the Wild, and Link’s House from Ocarina of Time. Additional details about this set can be found in the official news excerpted below:

Notably, both builds offer interactive features. In the Breath of the Wild rendition, the Great Deku Tree's face can be animated with the simple press of a lever, while the Ocarina of Time Great Deku Tree version boasts a captivating mechanism: when activated, its mouth opens, revealing a cleverly designed Skulltula (a spider-like enemy from the games) that descends into its depths.
In the Breath of the Wild version, enthusiasts will marvel at the Great Deku Tree adorned in vibrant pink blossoms, accompanied by the iconic Master Sword pedestal. Notably, this rendition boasts an engaging feature: the ability to animate the tree's expressive eyebrows and mouth, adding depth to the build.

Meanwhile, in the Ocarina of Time version, builders will encounter a lush green foliage-adorned Great Deku Tree. This version includes Link’s House, a pivotal element tied to the Ocarina of Time narrative, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and authenticity to the set. It's worth mentioning that regardless of which version you choose to build, you will have the ability to construct both the Master Sword pedestal and Link’s House as smaller models.

The set includes four LEGO mini figures that showcase iconic characters from the series. In the Breath of the Wild version, Princess Zelda and Link are dressed in their recognizable blue attire. As for the Ocarina of Time rendition, you'll find both Young Link and Link. Additionally, the set includes buildable characters and creatures such as Hestu the Korok (complete with his maracas), several smaller Koroks, Deku Babas, Navi the Fairy, the Deku Sprout, and a Skulltula.

“I’m really thrilled that The Legend of Zelda is joining the world of LEGO bricks, which has spurred the creative impulses of so many people of all ages," Eiji Aonuma said. "The Deku Tree was the first element from The Legend of Zelda we wanted to represent using LEGO bricks. This set allows you to build two different versions of the Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with unique features that are a great fit for the nature of the series. I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to build this part of The Legend of Zelda world with their own hands.”

The LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set is available for pre-order on the official LEGO website and LEGO Stores, and will be available for purchase as from September 1st for $299.99.

Lemme just quote myself from the last time this was posted :ha:

Standard Lego pricing is a little under 10 cents per brick for most sets, so out of the $300 price tag, $50 is Nintendo's tax. Fuckers.

And even $250 would be too much for a display piece.

Shame about the minifigs, they look nice.

I would have loved to see a series of Zelda playsets, and maybe with a large enough collection of locales and events and characters, the Deku tree could be a fitting centerpiece.

But on its own it's a $300 dust collector.

Well, yeah, the price is insane, but I knew it'd be around 300 just by looking at the picture and remembering the price tag of the D&D set.

The big question is: Will this stay a LEGO store exclusive or will this get into retail? That way we could expect big discounts later down the line.

I cant believe we're finally getting a Lego Legend of Zelda set, but that price is far too high! Hopefully we see more Nintendo Lego sets with minifigures in the future.

Finally got an appointment with an ENT, but it's not for another month. It's already been 4- days of loud ringing in my left ear, substantial pain on left side of my neck and left side on the back of my head. Doctors here at the regular clinic put me on a couple different meds for a month that did absolutely nothing, then they told me there's nothing more they can do for me despite being in pain and my ear sounding like im underwater and ringing.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Then three chiropractor appointments which also didn't help at all so i didn't go to the 4th. Been trying to get ahold of this ENT clinic out of town for a week and finally got an appointment set up. But its not til the 17th of July so I have to suffer all this shit for nearly another month.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
I hope relief from all of this is on the way because I've felt so defeated and severaly lacking in sleep because of the pain and ringing.
