Bug 1: I hate to mention it, but after a few hours of gameplay, the emulator softlocked while i went for a jog, i was playin Megaman X2 and i left it in pause for 2 hours, and 6 minutes ago i tried to resume gameplay and nope, went dead with the whole wii so, time to hard reset.

What could possibly cause this?

Bug 2: Early on i deleted the config files and started a new, but after i saved the USB settings and did a BIOS set up, BAM, Stack Dump, hard reset, afterwards it didnt happened again.

Also sorry to say, but it was mentioned before that SoTN has its infamous stutter fixed, sadly i assume the guy started playing at the beginning because i kept getting it at random areas, particularly at the catacombs.

IIRC, symphony of the night is a game that has worked well on the Wii for a long time. But now I’m hearing about problems with it. Does anybody know the last version of WiiStation that had a perfect SotN?

I’ll keep testing the newest version myself. i always love the progress with this emulator, it blows my mind.

SotN seems to be a very nitpicky case, the old gijillion versions of v2.4 started to run it ''decently'' minus a few parts when it slowed down, like any scene that involves 3d polygons as well as certain effects, that was a year ago, since, the game now runs at full speed except only at the game over effect of screen melt.

Having interpolated sound is a bless tough.

or, maybe its because i am playing the japanese version with the Gemini retranslation, i havent touched US SotN in a long time.

I did a small test, i loaded SoTN, then after loading the game and playin 5 minutes, i pause it on the map, let it rest for 1h 53:m 32s , and when i came back, there was no audio, the pause menu took 2 minutes to load, then the rest of the game played with no music, was able to save my game, but when i entered a new area that requiered to load a new music file, it soft locked, sadly i was also not able to record the beginning of the main issue.

The same issue happened last night while letting Rockman x4 run and went for joggin.

What could possibly cause this, the lack of playthrough during near 2 hours,

Are you using CHD or Bin/cue?

Kek, PBP, the PSP format.
don't use PBP then. use BIN/CUE.

PS: maybe later i will recompile a new version with the Force NTSC fix along with the old Soft GPU fixes, along with latest Lightrec and libCHDr. (requested by @GustavoReis)

Thanks.

I just tested here and it fix the scaling issue I mentioned about in Chrono Cross game.

In SOTN I didn't notice microstuttering as others or as it used to happen in other builds. If it happens, I didn't notice in the first area of the game. I tested it in 240p using a CRT TV. The only time the framerate took a hit was in the 'game over' melt screen message.

BTW. I had a softlock after trying to quit WiiStation to loader after playing SOTN for 10 to 15 minutes. It was frozen at the WiiStation screen.

Recompiled again WiiStation until git https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/commit/4afbf69b7c00754a0b0a8e06e7dd4de731a02232
but with changes from https://github.com/saulfabregwiivc/WiiStation/commits/newtestlightrecchdmay2024/

What's new:
- Added an option for choose the old GPU plugin based on P.E.Op.S. and the new GPU plugin based on DFXVideo.
Old soft GPU plugin is recommended for most cases, in case the game doesn't work or have issues on the old plugin (ex. Crash Bash, This is Football 2, Bomberman Fantasy Race, etc.), use the new GPU plugin.

- Update yet again Lightrec until git https://github.com/pcercuei/lightrec/commit/caffa935213e0afd82a535b519340ce791b5134d.

PLEASE DELETE YOUR OLD settingsRX2022.cfg FILE BEFORE TESTING!!!!

Please test this new build, thanks ;)

Well bro, i play trough the whole game and right now i am around near finishing the inverse castle, also i noticed the stutter more prominently at the catacombs vertical areas.

Came back, SotN stutter issues seem to be permanent for now, tragically, while other games dont have these issues, i should mention that:

Yes i baleted the cfg file
Yes i played SotN sometimes as the first title instead of booting another one and then come back
I use the new GPU plugin

But on the plus side the softlock is gone, again, New GPU plugin

@MeXen Try the game with and without NTSC Forcing and with and without Interlaced, also with Frameskip On and Off and with different combinations of these options.

Fast load will be disabled I guess.

Just to test as a curiosity and see that nothing interferes with this particular game.

@SaulFabre Thanks for these versions mixing the good of the old and the new, the best of both worlds.

Do you think it would be possible to add two extra slots for custom controls?

Hi @SaulFabre

Could you tell me the main differences between the old plugin and the new one?
The old GPU plugin is based on the oldest P.E.Op.S. Soft GPU used in years by the old WiiSX (before 3.0) and its later forks, which in WiiStation, @Jokippo kindly improved it a lot, bringing his changes and fixes here. Faster than DFXVideo but some games don't work fine here.
Also here the Force NTSC option works pretty fine.
Use this plugin in most cases/games.

The new GPU plugin is based on the latest GPULIB and DFXVideo, both from the upstream PCSX-ReARMed, slighty slower than old P.E.Op.S. but it's more "accurate" in terms of video emulation. Emulates some effects and special instructions which old P.E.Op.S. can't handle (ex. Crash Bash (pause menu), Bomberman Fantasy Race (Retry/Quit menu), This is Football 2 (complex video instructions)).
Haven't tried Force NTSC option here through.
Use this plugin only if your game doesn't work fine in the old GPU plugin.

Please keep in mind, that both video plugins are software-rendered and not hardware accelerated (yet).
