I was bored and got it stuck in my head that id like to play with a cute PS5 Slim, so i went looking.

Managed to find a sealed unit with BluRay Drive for 360€ (includes shipping and PayPal fees).

How did i do? Decent deal?

What firmware versions could the unit come with?

The PS5 Slim requires to do an online activation so that may require to do a firmware update... Hopefully not.

€360 is a good price especially if you'll make use of it.

Speaking in general, the problem with any 'how good is this deal' questions is that it can vary depending on specific circumstances e.g. the going rate where you live, the condition, etc.

Having a quick look around amazon and ebay de, that does seem to be a good price for a sealed unit, presuming all is good.

Looking on Sony's website, it's a bit of a mixed bag.

In places for the DD SKU, I'm seeing internet is required e.g. Astro's Playroom, PS4 games, etc. but in others it just says the internet is "recommended".

I know the DD SKU requires an internet connection to marry an added ODD.

That offer turned out to be a scam. Seller had no PS5 to offer me.

Instead he went to an electronics rental shop and had them send me one, hoping i would not notice. but i did.

Got my money back and got lucky right away. Snagged a used one for 350€.

Less spectacular offer, but there it is.

A Slim, no packaging left, just about guaranteed to be on the most recent firmware, but thats fine for me.

I will let you know the model when it arrives. Just got a shipping notification from ebay

I'm really unsure about buying a PS5 since there's hardly any games I want to play, but if Sony makes a PS5 Pro akin to the PS4 Pro 500 Million Edition I'm buying that!

There's one game... DBZ Sparking! ZERO. Seeing the Season Pass and DLCs did disappoint me even though it was to be expected.

Kakarot is great, too and so is Sand Land! Two other games based on the work of Akira Toriyama.

What I think is really bad is not making it explicitly clear on the website (unless I missed something).

I'm sceptical it's 'malicious' though, instead them just being cheap during the manufacturing process with AP just being a side effect.

As for the PS6, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to push DD more, especially since they effectively have a monopoly on their DD store, earn more per game and Xbox isn't in the best place competition wise.
