yes, exactly that! it loads the normal mk8 banner, then once its finished loading it displays the mk8ultimate banner for a split second and then crashes
K, then something is wrong with your file structure. Now you're sure you have a PAL copy of the game (doesn't matter if it's a PAL Wii U or not, only the game's region is what matters here)?

Hi, its just sdcafiine ? so i put just ui and i have the mod ? or i need another thing ?
PS : i have an european version.
No, SDcafiine will not make this mod work, you need to use the included plugin with the Wii U Plugin Loader.

featuring absurdly sharp turns that require TAS precision (for some stages anyway, others that won't even help)
GBATemp user finding out about the inside drift meta in real time, 2022, colourised
I'd also put in a huge rec for Mario Kart Midnight, they're all new (last year or two) tracks and they're all really great quality. A few succumb to the inside drift bug but the majority of them are sweet. All custom music too, unlike Fun...
Forgive my ignorance, but what are the 3 difficult tracks? Regardless, Beta will almost certainly have a different selection of 104 courses. And the remaining courses will probably get added to a Second Tour mod or something like that.
I thought you had music for most of the tracks except for a couple that were being tricky? Maybe I misinterpreted something you said, no worries if that's what happened.

Oh haha you meant difficult in terms of working with to implement music. I thought you meant like extra hard to complete courses or something like that haha. It's probably like 7 courses that aren't cooperating. I've taken a break since running into these brick walls, but I think I'll try and look deeper into it this weekend.

I'll have to check it out. Fun was horrific. Wii Deluxe wasn't very good because the new mechanic changes, frankly, suck. Everything and everyone is so overly hyperbouncy. I feel like it's nothing but springs, it's so clunky feeling. The item changes are also a bit irritating, notably the triple banana nerf. Being at #1 you get few good items anyway, why make it worse. Some of the buffs were good, though.

"Inside drift" is some bike thing I guess. It's Mario Kart, not Mario Bike, locking the game to only one class feels like a profoundly silly decision.

I really hate that Kaizo Mario (and, honestly, AIR before it) ever came out. They changed the ROM hacking landscape so badly and it never recovered fully. Way too often ROM hacks just devolve into emergent gameplay with "creative" glitch abuse (which Kaizo popularized, if SMW wasn't so buggy Kaizo wouldn't even be a thing to witness) and mercilessly hard gimmicks for the sake of it.
EDIT: clarified better because I was overly critical of ROM hacks in entirety instead of general, because sadly, Kaizo hacks DID impact it heavily, but not entirely.

I think we need some QA, like CTGP has on WIi.

This has a lot of ugly looking or just straight up broken tracks...

idk if that's just how it is on Wii U (like, there just aren't any better looking tracks, this is all there is) or what...

Btw, could you switch to a different file hosting service?
Getting the files was quite difficult, the download just kept failing or ending up incomplete.

Other than that I got 1 crash and I am not sure why, I stayed in singleplayer mode the whole time.

And finally, will more DLC tracks from MK8DX make it into the next release?
Ugh, posts like this have me question why I even work on passion projects like this to begin with. Pure entitlement without a sense of gratitude.

Definitely doesn't sound like the version of Wii Deluxe that I have. I know there are multiple versions for each release though, so it's possible things like that depending on which version you use (Red, Blue, or Green). The one I use sure feels like MKWii as I know, with all the bonus extra shit they crammed into Wii Deluxe.

I think I loaded Purple because of the descriptions I found (from players, they provided absolutely none, which I found weird) the others had "custom karts", "custom chars" and I think custom music or something? I just wanted stages with vanilla mechanics.

I can't say CTGP has any actual "QA" given it has some of the world's most restrictive and asslicking DRM on the planet. They think, surely, that the leopards won't eat their faces, as long as they pretend to cater to them!

A bunch of roaches they are. Using open-source platforms and tools to make a DRM-restricted closed-source ROM hack. They can go straight to Rainbow Road for all I care.

Their audience of none must be doing great.

Then what you want is actually Blue

Wow, you took that super badly. Never take shit personally on the internet.

All I did was provide some fair (you can't possibly look at some of the tracks and tell me I am wrong) constructive feedback, a good chunk of the CTs are not good (one of them even crashed my system).

My question is: Were there no better CTs to pick from?

If that is the case then the problem doesn't lie with you or your mod, but with the lack of good quality tracks.

And the file host thing was just a suggestion, whatever service you are using (idk because the URL is shortened) is not good for downloading big files and affects the overall user experience.

Also, demanding gratitute from people is also a sign of entitlement. The Pot Calling The Kettle Black.

It's like if I went "Hey, your hack sucks ass. You have to change this and you should start now, you can thank me later"

That is not even close to what I did.

I simply made some suggestions as an user who likes the idea but wants to some improvements.

C'mon, not even you can deny CTGP has very good CTs. You'd have to admit to being blind first.

Also, I am pretty sure Dolphin has riivolution support now...? So you can play CTGP on your PC now if you want.

I don't like that you need a disc to play on real hardware, I have always been against that shit, but you can't deny CTGP's overall qu

I love how you start shitting on something then tell the person "I WuZ jUsT cRiTiCiZiNg" while you talk like a pompous and condescending loon with the alternating bolded italics like we're all morons who you just HAVE to talk down to.

LOL I can "play it on my PC", with what fucking disc drive. PCs aren't from 1995 anymore, who the fuck has a "disc drive"? Who has working DISCS PERIOD? NO ONE. Fuck CTGP. Scummy assholes.

To answer your question: no, there weren’t. Just compare the amount of tracks on MK8’s GameBanana page to the Mario Kart Wii Wiki’s custom track page and you’ll see what I mean. I’d say this pack actually has most of the better quality custom tracks of the bunch (at least the ones that existed when it released). The Mario Kart Wii modding scene is WAY bigger than the MK8 scene, so more higher quality tracks are made more often. That and MK Wii is just easier to create tracks for compared to MK8 which is a newer, more advanced game.

You don't need a Disc on PC.

I won't address most of the other stuff because I don't have beef with anyone. If Mika doesn't want my feedback he can choose to ignore it.

I will address one thing tho, only because I really need to.

I have OCD, I love using bold text, italics and parentheses (they are neat) to make sure there are no misunderstandings, because communicating via text is not that simple (and I always feel the need to explain myself).

Your message amounts merely to pointless anger (at me and CTGP).
Yes. You do. You also can't use it on Dolphin. After their /r/Conservative-style interview process to deem you "eligible" to even download the freaking patch, you find out it can't be used on Dolphin, or really, anything that isn't a real Wii with the freaking DISC.

You can't use the disc on a PC, anyway. Not for that.
Yeah talking in a condescending and obnoxious tone to people isn't OCD. That's narcissism. You think you're better than everyone.

I also love how you're playing victim now. Don't fling shit unless you want people to know whose shit it is. You're crying like a toddler now because I ascribed your shit to your ass.

Just want to put it out there that MK8U is, as best I can tell, the only active modpack for Mario Kart 8. Yes, Generations is coming soon, and I'll be curious to see how it turns out, but in terms of what you can use today, this is it! CTGP-8 has been scrubbed from the internet, and CTGP-U hasn't been updated for several years.

I came into this after having a great time with Wii modding and I wanted to see what MK8 was like. I'm sure there are lots of great tracks on GameBanana but I wasn't going to sink the hours needed into working out SDCafiine and how to properly arrange the files and which tracks can replace what. I don't have the attention span for that.

I think Mika deserves mad props for being the person who has actually put that time in and picked out tracks and arranged them so that they're all playable; and so that we can just download a zip and have things Work. I definitely would not have tried modded MK8 at all if this pack wasn't available; the age and dramatic history of the older packs still turns me off trying them. So, thanks for that!
