Well I don't use CEMU, those are directions others have told me works. I'm sorry I can't be of more help with CEMU, but I can definitely confirm this will work on real hardware, that will always be what I mainly cater to here, and if you can get it working on CEMU, awesome, if not, well I'm sorry.

I addressed this from the start: Music on new courses was not believed to be possible when I released the alpha. Only recently have I discovered how to properly add custom music to the extra stages, however about 7 or so of the 104 additional courses are not cooperating, so I've not yet made this version public, once I can hopefully get these remaining stages to work with music, then I'll share the update. Might still be a few weeks yet though.
OK Thank you very much, you already have did a great work ! ^^.

I decided to give this a try last night with great success. It seems some people are struggling with the installation of CTGP-Cafe, so I have added a few steps to the instructions provided by MikaDubbz.

All you need to do to get this to work on Cemu is:

1. Install the Mario Kart 8 update within Cemu using File then install. You don't have to install the base game, it works either way. Installing the DLC is optional.

2. Download and extract CTGP-Cafe. Copy the code and content folders inside.

3. Navigate to MK8's update folder and paste the contents of the CTGP-Cafe folder here.

4. Download and extract the CTGP-Cafe patch 1.1.1 and copy and paste the contents into the update folder.

5. Download and extract MK8 Ultimate

6. Navigate to cemu\graphicPacks\Mario Kart 8\Mods and create a folder called Ultimate

7. Inside Ultimate create a file called rules.txt and give it the following contents [Definition] titleIds = 000500001010ec00,000500001010ed00,000500001010eb00 name = Mario Kart 8 Ultimate path = "Mario Kart 8/Mods/Ultimate" description = Enables custom UI and 104 custom tracks version = 3

8. Move the content folder from Mario Kart 8 Ultimate\mk8uloader\vol\000500001010EC00 to your graphics pack

9. Now inside the content folder, cut the course folder and paste it in MK8's update folder

10. In Cemu, right click on MK8, click "Edit Graphics Packs" and enable "Ultimate"

CTGP-Cafe can be found on gamebanana, search for CTGP Preservation and look at the most recent comment. The patch can be downloaded by going to the way back machine to navigate to rambo6dev. It may take several attempts to download.

Doesn't work. Step 9 seems to copy weirdly but I think it does, but Step 10 doesn't work because it never actually appears in the Edit Graphics Packs part to enable.

EDIT: Step 10 DOES work, but you made a typo for Step 7. The rules.txt is actually line sensitive (quite odd as these types of files usually don't require such strict formatting). You need new lines for each.

[Definition]
titleIds = 000500001010ec00,000500001010ed00,000500001010eb00
name = Mario Kart 8 Ultimate
path = "Mario Kart 8/Mods/Ultimate"
description = Enables custom UI and 104 custom tracks
version = 3

Works like a charm now! RIP my free time! :D

Hello I’m having some issues with running this mod with the plug-in whenever I try to run it it says “an exception of type 2 occurred” and I don’t know how to fix it I have the proper US region code for the game but I don’t know what is wrong I tried to run it through SDCafiine and it adds all the characters and everything but the only portion I am missing are the tracks.

Thank you so much (and @Dyhr ). I'm going to try this soon.
However, getting 1.1.0 took me ages with archive.org. (also I'm the one who posted it in the comments section of gamebanana). I really don't wanna go through that again finding the 1.1.1 patch, so can any of u guys please upload it?

Unfortunately none of the custom stages actually load. They appear, but CEMU crashes instantly when loading any custom stage.

@MikaDubbz I'm only asking this because the name of the kit you use for this "CTGP" is similar to another notoriously awful bootlicking project ("CTGP") for Mario Kart Wii that intentionally prevents use on lawful backups or emulators, literally restricting use to a freaking disc. They're pretending that Nintendo will ignore them if they "restrict it to discs only", when this will never be the case (see: Pokemon Prism or any other ROM hack shut down when all they do is distribute an IPS file, literally 100% legal), instead they just act as bootlickers and are a toxic plague on the ROM hacking and game preservation scenes.

You don't have any added prevention in this project to stop work with backups or emulators, do you? I wouldn't think to ask this normally, but how hard it is to get this to work with CEMU combined with the "CTGP" name has me paranoid.

My apologies on that one. Somewhere between copying and pasting it from my phone to my laptop and then into the post, it seems to have lost it's formatting.

Thanks for the upload. No problem, here you go:

Edit: I seem to be having trouble sharing the file. If I try to add an attachment, it says the file is over the maximum limit and Google drive won't let me share it.

Edit 2: Just discovered it also works without the patch. The patch updates some files within the Gwii_Coconut folder. After playing that course with and without the patch, there doesn't seem to be any noticeable differences.

For me there are frequent crashes (and when the lava shoots up on certain tracks it's blue for some reason), but it was stable enough for me and the kids to play several rounds this afternoon. I didn't do anything special to get it running other than using the latest version of Cemu in portable mode.

To be clear only the original modpack not put together by me that first utilized cafe-loader was known as CTGP-cafe. Nothing in my package is directly referred to as CTGP, even the loader plugin that allows for extra stages is referred to as Cafe-Loader, I only refer to my version as Mario Kart 8 Ultimate. And anyway, the CTGP that you're talking about only applies to Mario Kart Wii. Custom Track Grand Prix is actually a term used for many MK mods that add extra courses. There's A CTGP for MK7, there was an 'official' one for MK8 that I've adapted the loader from here, and there is an upcoming CTGP Deluxe in the works for MK8Deluxe, and of all of these, only MKWii's CTGP required an official disk. So that example of CTGP requiring a physical copy is actually an exception, and not at all the rule. (By the way, I recommend you bail on CTGP-Revolution for MKWii regardless, as there is now a much bigger and better mod called Mario Kart Wii Deluxe, it has over 650 courses, and it does not require an official physical copy of the game).

Plus, while I know you haven't yet, others have reported having it fully working on CEMU, so not only do you not need an official physical copy of the game, you don't even need the official physical hardware to play the mod in its entirety.

Thanks. I'd still love to have it for preservation issues though.
Could you upload it maybe here? https://fastupload.io/en
(or any other upload service)

I have uploaded it to fastupload but I am not allowed to post links yet. Add 9cBTMlTx22pKw5A/file to the website you linked earlier and hopefully you will find the update.

Great, thanks buddy. I'll create an archive.org upload within the next few days to have this preserved once and for all (the gamebanana thing only has the non-Cemu version and is also not the right place to preserve things.

i've had the same problem, even asked a person who got it working on their pal console to very kindly send me their download exactly as they had it, they did and i still got the error. i have no idea what to do at this point, im just guessing that the mod just doesnt like some wii us. i also tested ctgp cafe (the preserved one on gamebanana) and while i was able to get past the menu screen, clicking any races would crash it. and another problem is is that mk8uloader for this is essential as it adds the ability to switch between cups, which sdcafiine cant do. and seeing as you have a us copy, you didnt even need to change any files and stuff, which just makes it a bit more annoying. ofc it would probably be fixed if we ever got a new version of the cafeloader, as they could probably figure out the root cause of it, but mikadubbz doubts thatll have ever happen bc something to do with the og dev. but ig for now all we can do is hope and maybe try the older mk8ultimate mod instead

You shouldn't have to use a different version on actual hardware, even with PAL, you can get this to for sure work on an actual Wii U. This is hopefully a dumb question, but you're putting the MK8uloader folder in the base of your SD card right? I ask because you mentioned SDCafiine, which made me worried you might be trying to put the titleID folder in the SDCafiine folder and not keeping it in the MK8Uloader folder in the root of your SD card. Additionally you're using a PAL copy, you're taking the extra steps to get it working right? Renaming the titleID folder and all that, and putting the extra files from the .7z file in the first post where they belong? My money says something somewhere is screwy with your file structure.

I'll try to get it working again later. I apologize profusely for the hasty accusation earlier. I won't delete it on the basis that I shouldn't alter my posting history to make myself look better and make you look accusatory. I was wrong, and I'm sorry for it.

I tried Mario Kart Fun but 90-95% of its "800" stages are recolors of the first cup... worst part is those are better than the remaining ~10% of original stages because they weren't even tested. Almost none of them are even playable, featuring absurdly sharp turns that require TAS precision (for some stages anyway, others that won't even help), effectively invisible stages (because white-on-slightly-less-white isn't a good color scheme), stupid dead-ends that you can't have any prior knowledge of, and buggy boundaries.

I'll check that one out. Thanks.

I've managed to reproduce the issue where some people can see the custom stages but can't select them. I'm guessing this might be causing your issue too. It occurs when steps 8 and 9 aren't completed correctly. Following the instructions from the beginning, once you get to step 8, make sure you cut (not copy) the folder "course" located within the graphics pack (graphicPacks\Mario Kart 8\Mods\Ultimate\content) and past it over the folder "course" located within the mk8 update folder. Otherwise the mod will work fine except you won't be able to access the custom tracks, as the data for them is in the wrong place.

Works for me on PAL on-console, yea. Can't wait for music, should make the pack a lot more engaging.
Any chance of a beta release with the 3 difficult tracks excluded?
Forgive my ignorance, but what are the 3 difficult tracks? Regardless, Beta will almost certainly have a different selection of 104 courses. And the remaining courses will probably get added to a Second Tour mod or something like that.

No no, not Mario Kart Fun, that's a different modpack I don't recommend. Mario Kart Wii Deluxe is what I'm talking about.

yes, ive put mk8uloader in the root of my sd card, and i also took the extra steps to get it working. thing is, it does recognise the mod as it loads the title screen for a split second but it then crashes. there probably is a chance that theres something wrong with my file structure, but i genuinely have no idea where to start as it looks like theres so many files

Is it the proper title screen that you see for a second or the loading banner with the MK8Ultimate logo and it crashes before you see the proper title screen? Cuz if it's the banner, then it could still be a case of an improper file placement, heck I've accidentally done that myself even.

yes, exactly that! it loads the normal mk8 banner, then once its finished loading it displays the mk8ultimate banner for a split second and then crashes
