You have good instincts. All correct.

E: we could go through all the rubble and try to find that one thing or do the reverse…just clean house and the cherry pick the few things we want to get back from backups. And yes, e: (the one windows always wants you to format) is your hidden emunand.
hey man, do you happen to know a tool so i can backup my sd card? everytime i try to copy paste it i get the error 80004005 on windows which prevents me from backing up my switch folders and files.

Yeah, maybe corruption. Glad we’re on the path to format everything anyway. This is probably why things mysteriously went sideways to begin with. Time to break out the big guns…

Here are two tools to try and back things up:
1) MiniTool Partition Wizard <- attempt to make a bit-for-bit copy of the entire sd card.
2) Unstoppable Copier <- copy everything and don’t stop for errors.

If these don’t work…we’re pretty screwed, in which case you should mount you SDCard with NXNandManager and copy the /USER/saves (these are your game saves) and we:
  • format with rufus
  • reinstall Hekate/Atmosphere/SigPatches
  • reinstall games
  • restore save games (From backup above)

I got a small problem, i cant use minitool partition wizard since my trial has ended even tough i have never used the program before. And i can't find unstoppable copier for windows 10. only for windows 7 8 and weirdly enough windows 9.

EaseUSm, PartitionMagic any of them will do. Googling any of their names will net you a bunch of their competitors in this crowded tech space.

Unstoppable Copier hasn’t needed an update because it just works. Doesn’t matter that it’s old.

Hi,
I just formatted my oled console and forgot to move the save data, the save data is still on my micro sd card.
Do you know how I can restore the save data back onto another console?
I heard you can restore with JKSV but is it possible to transfer save data from an CFW to an Official SYSNand without being banned from online services?

Thanks]

You can use NXNandmanager to mount your SDCard emunand and then copy the /USER/saves to to your PC. At that point you can recover them with JKSV. If you temporarily run CFW and JKSV on your Sysnand (not a bannable offense) you can restore saves. All that said, if you are cheating or manipulating saves for Online games you have a high likelihood of getting caught and banned from the game or possibly your entire console banned.

With the recent release of external drive support for NX-Shell has there been any updates with installers and support for external drives?

You can install from a USB drive and have been able to for a while now. The thing you can’t do is mount an XCI from a USB Drive without installing the game. That is an SXOS only feature that used Ninty’s Intellectual Property (code) and will never be a part of Atmosphere Because they don’t support piracy.

Thanks Binkinator. Which installers can you do it directly from an external drive?

TinWoo, Awoo and AtmoXL-Titel-Installer, in that order, are my top 3 picks. A lot of people love DBI, but I've never used it. I do know that it can install via USB and that it has a few functions beside installing titles, like connecting to your PC in MTP mode so you can browse/edit the files on your SD card without removing it from the Switch, scanning for orphaned files and doing something with saves, so let's put that at number 4.

Awesome, thanks guys. I threw Tinwoo on my SD! Quick question when I select install from USB HDD it doesn't see anything. I am using a Samsung 850 Evo in an external enclosure with a USB C to USB A cable formatted to exfat. The files are sorted within folders ie:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
game.nsp

There are no versions, other than those provided by Nintendo. Some people Don‘t check their backups for accuracy as well as others. I would stick with the location where you found the working version but it’s not necessary to look for the same “dumbed” version. it’s just luck.
Hello sir your right,playing games on my switch is just luck,I tried to download again XCI file but not dumbed sadly to say same result, I don't know what to do, I think need to update sigpatched the right way ,I hope I can find a video for updating the sigpatched or solution on my problem

Exfat is absolutely one of the compatible filesystems so it should definitely work. If this is a spinning drive, it will likely require an external power adaptor. Can you confirm it’s turning on and spinning?

e: You can take a small step to confirm your setup works by installing with a USB stick. Once you’ve confir,Ed everything works, the next step would be to get the same game to install on a similarly formatted HDD.

Please share the contents of your /bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini file.

e: have you installed any sys-modules or cheats?

You should be able to simply download the file attached to the first post in this thread and unzip it at the top of your SDCard.

Here is a troubleshooting thread on the topic as well: https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-how-to-fix-switch-games-not-booting-after-a-fw-cfw-update.563960/

this should fix things for you:

Download fusee.bin from the latest Atmosphere release in GitHub here:
https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/releases/

Place that fusee.bin file in /bootloader/payloads/

then change the following section in your hekate_ipl.ini file from:

[CFW - emuMMC]
fss0=atmosphere/package3
kip1patch=nosigchk
emummcforce=1
atmosphere=1
icon=bootloader/res/icon_payload.bmp

to read like this instead:

[CFW - emuMMC]
payload=/bootloader/payloads/fusee.bin
kip1patch=nosigchk
emummcforce=1
atmosphere=1
icon=bootloader/res/icon_payload.bmp

Then just reboot and select CFW - emuMMC and it should just work…

I will remove the 2 bin file change to fuse.bin latest atmosphere?

No, the only place to find the real Tinfoil is the GitHub page where I linked which is why I linked specifically that page. All other sources are fakes or knockoffs.

Do you have another computer or device you can try connecting the RCM Loader to via USB?

The patches from the second thread you linked are foolproof. Either you put the patches in the wrong places or there are some bad leftover patches from what you downloaded with Awoo. I recommend deleting the /atmosphere folder and downloading a new one from the GitHub page then redownloading the patches from the second thread you linked. Also next time, please do not open a thread if your post isn't answered immediately. At the very least, I can guarantee I check this thread 3 times a day and nobody likes helping a multi-poster.

You just said in the previous post that you fixed an earlier error and now it came back? Which is it?
Thank you very much ill try that out later today :)

Those are very old. You aren’t using them at all and can just leave them there. Just add the new fusee.bin from the Atmosphere release page.
I did all your advice same result looking for sigpatched, I even tried to download the games in goodleaf
