I was asking it out of curiosity and to be just sure I ordered official ones.
There are bootlegs that fool customers into thinking it's the genuine product, but not here.

If HD Retrovision released an adapter from Component to HDMI I'd buy, if just for simplicity and convenience. Plus, it's a brand you can trust.

I think we've already been through this conversation before.. Test with a different tv, different hdmi switch, component cables and the answer will reveal itself to you.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So, I bought SGEYR's HDMI switch and I'll see if I have this issue in the next days, even though I ordered official PS2 component cables.

Also, why does this HDMI switch's remote controller have an on/off button and should it be pressed to turn off the HDMI switch when not using it?

why does the HDMI switch's controller have a HDMI Switch turn on/off button and should I use it to turn off the TV when going to bed or leaving home?
I assume it can only turn on/off the switcher itself and not the tv. when you turn off the tv switcher 'll turn off with it since it's drawing power from it, though it'd better to power it with the power plug instead of from the tv, as long as it has the input..

No. If I turn it off, the TV is still turned on and if I turn it off, the HDMI switch (which isn't even connected to a socket but to the TV via USB cable) is still turned on, which is annoying and doesn't make sense. I guess I'll turn the HDMI switch off when not using it. Another thing, I can't turn the HDMI switch off without its remote controller.

Do you think it's a good HDMI switch?

I can't tell you that.
and if I turn off the TV, the HDMI switch is still turned on
That doesn't make any sense.. It'll surely turn off soon after the tv's been turned off. Or you could remove the tv's power cable from the socket when you're done with it, to make sure it doesn't get any power after..
I guess I'll turn the HDMI switch off when going to bed and leaving home just to be safe.
I honestly wouldn't trust it, it could keep drawing power from the tv even if it's off, when it's still plugged to the power socket.. So you should remove the TV's power cable from the socket when you're done with it..

While I own the HD Retrovision cable, I'm thinking of ordering the Sony one, too.

If connected to a PS3, then I'd probably see no difference than a HDMI itself so I'll have to wait for my stuff to arrive from abroad.

Looks biased based on cables and retailers, tbh.
It's not. Ignore the links and just take in the information provided and apply whatever's relevant to your own setup.
Seriously, anyone that cares about getting the best out of their systems should be at least referencing the info on RetroRGB. They've been documenting the best methods for console output for over a decade now, and their YouTube channel and main blog posts are full of interesting developments in the realm of retro systems. They're where most of YouTubes heavy hitters in the field (Digital Foundry, My Life in Gaming, etc) get their info from - and if they're not getting it from there they're working with them to provide the community with the info.

But that's what happens. After turning off the TV, the HDMI switch is still turned on.

What may happen if it keeps drawing power from the TV after I turn it off?

But that would be too much of a hassle.

Are they better than the official component cables?

Looks biased based on cables and retailers, tbh.

Now I don't know if official component cables should have been ordered since I've read a lot of comments saying RGB Scart is better.

@duwen, their solutions are too expensive for me.

EDIT: Unfortunately, HD Retrovision cables can't be shipped to my country.

RetroRGB said:
PlayStation 2 consoles output both Component Video (YPbPr) and RGB. Both are equal in quality, but component video is easier to use in all resolutions with the PS2.

RGB SCART is good, but that's something only old PAL HDTV/CRT TVs had.

Component cables are preferable.
Not entirely true. My 2015 (not ridiculously old) 4K Sony Bravia has SCART as well as component and HDMI. The fact that it offered 'legacy' connections on top of HDMI was one of the main reasons I bought it. I am in a PAL territory, but in the HD age it matters little.
Unfortunately when I need to replace it (which will be soon) I'll additionally need to buy a Retro Tink 5x just to have the same connectivity.

It might be easier to use but offer a worse image.
What the quote is refering to is that component handles multiple resolutions better than scart - the image quality is the same (as long as you're using good quality cables).

My vote is go with the HD retrovision cables:
https://www.amazon.com/HD-Retrovision-PlayStation-Premium-Component/dp/B07H3F94ZN

Yeah, they're a bit on the pricey side, but they're a HUGE step up from the ps2toHdmi adaptors,
But if you already have the OEM component cable, you should be okay.

As long as you have a way to connect them to your display, you'll be getting the highest quality from your console.

As for getting that signal from the cables to your TV, there are various sealers in each price range, if your TV supports Compoent you could start with that,
If not, you could use a cheap converter (don't use cheap upscalers) like this: https://www.amazon.com/Portta-N3CVRHP-Component-Converter-support/dp/B003VJ9RP6
And you'll get a really clean image!

There are higher end scalers like the retrotink and ossc,
but if you want to keep the cost down, the retrovision+converter is really solid for the price!

So, may Portta be used with official component cables if the new TV doesn't have component inputs?

So, if the new TV doesn't have a component cable, may I use the OEM component cable with that Portta YPbPr Converter to HDMI?
Yes, the portta will work with any component cables.

It has less options than the fancy scalers, so you may need to set the TV to 4:3 for some games.
But I think it's a great option for people just getting started, if you like it you can consider getting a more expensive scaler down the line if the advertised features appeal to you!

Going back seven years, yeah, back then they still had, but now they're seen as "outdated" and "obsolete."

The U.K. has always been different from the rest of the European continent, although they still used SCARTs, and the PAL format for TVs/Media (movies/shows were sped-up while games were slowed down). And moreover, the PAL SD resolution looked weird in 4:3, it was 720x576 whereas NTSC is 720x480 (this works for 4:3 and 16:9).

What about PS2 to HDMI adapter vs. Portta + official component cables?
