I have a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 250GB drive with no purpose. I decided to try and make it an internal drive for Xbox 360. I used FATXplorer and it worked. I put it in my 360 and the 360 shows it as a normal internal drive. I know everyone was telling me recently that WD Scorpio is still the only drive. I guess that is not true anymore :)

PS: I have 2TB Seagate I'm going to try now. - Failed Result

Iirc, we only have the security sector for the wd scorpio, and only up to 500GB. Do you have an rgh or a jtag? They can accept anything up to 2TB.

OEM XBOX 360

I will dump a few games on it from USB to test the integrity in a few.

Thanks,

How does fatxplorer format the drive? You usually have to input the serial number on the system to format it.
I'm still working on ps3 unit right now to test drive more.. FATXplorer, you select format, then 360 hd format. It will ask a few questions (nothing pertains to me), then start format. It puts all partitions on the drive including backwards comp. Ohh, you have to have ransomeware protection off to do it in windows 10. you can turn it back on afterwards.

I tested the drive this morning with Overlord II. Copied game from external to internal seagate. turned off 360 and removed external. I booted the 360 and loaded game from internal. Game played perfectly.

No idea how that's possible on a non-rgh.

I think you can use any make 500gb and under using FATXplorer. If I get time, I'll get my other non-Scorpio drives and try. I will test drive on a Phat unit to see if it works on that series.
I've heard of stability problems above 500GBs, and I know the security sector (ss.bin), at least for the scorpio only works with 500GB and below. I'm not sure what the largest drive the system officially supports on a retail unit is.

Does the 360 see it as the internal harddrive or as a USB device?

As far as I can remember, the security sector is required for the 360 to see the drive as a internal one.

Internal, it shows the 360 phat drive icon. My unit I tested it in is not a Phat.. I will test it in a phat later today.

The game you used was purchased (legit) and not just an installed game from your disc, or one converted to GOD format? I assume it's the former as retail 360s can't play those no matter what.

I think he's using a retail, unmodded system.

I know, i'm asking about the game he used, installed games from discs can't be played without the disc. And ones converted to the GOD format can't be played either, they just show up as corrupted.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
