i have a 2nd sd card which is sitting going to waste, so i may aswell try if it doesnt affect my atmosphere?
Android supports Xbox game pass? At any rate, you can try following this guide to setup Android.
Now that I've purchased a v1 Switch and my 400GB SD Card has landed, this week I fully intend on getting everything up and running. With that, I've got a couple questions that I'm hoping someone here can help me with.

Firstly, out of these 2 guides HERE and HERE, which do you recommend I use for getting started?

Secondly, since I use Pihole to block all PS4 Related Websites since I own a Jailbroken PS4, is there something similar for the Nintendo Switch?

What apps do most people use that are highly recommended?

From my brief research, I keep hearing advice to update to the latest Sig Patches. Where can I find more information on this?

Thanks for all the help. I'm really looking forward to getting up and running.
  • Second guide is better
  • Here is a link to a post of what another user blocks via their PiHole
  • That depends on what you plan to do with your console as there are a wide variety of homebrew apps
  • The main and only CFW remaining, Atmosphere, does not support piracy. Instead, users create patches to load with Atmosphere that enable piracy. These patches are not "sigpatches" (this is a made-up term to make it easier for 'noobs') but instead ES, FS, & Loader patches. ES patches enable pirating digital content while FS patches allow users to pirate games dumped as cartridges or install homebrew apps as titles. Loader patches are needed alongside FS patches after a certain firmware. You can find a link to these patches in this thread
Made a post couple pages back about my sd card being corrupted I don’t think anyone responded to. I went ahead and reformatted and started from scratch. Clean atmosphere install. Trying to install my old games via hdd on tinfoil, it won’t read my hdd. If I plug it into my pc and try with usbfs it doesn’t read anything.

Before my sd card corrupted I never had an issue with it. I’ve tried awoo and tinwoo as well and nothing

What could it possible be ?
How was your SD card formatted?
i have a v1 switch, and ihacked it when the hack first came out, im using a jig and usb dongle

i want to know if i am running sys nand or emu nand?

as i want to block the nintendo servers, at the moment i have put in the dns manually but read that its better creating exposphere/
i will do both...
is this this correct? and then i can get rid of the dns servers i have set? and connect normally to the wifi auto settings
You can check if you're using sysMMC or emuMMC by going into the System Settings and checking if there is an "E" or "S" at the end of the current firmware version. "E" means its emuMMC and "S" indicates sysMMC. You also do not need to use both exosphere and dns.mitm because you don't get any extra benefit from using both. Either one is fine but you absolutely do not need to use both of them together.
I just updated my emuMMC to 13.2.1, got atmosphere 1.2.6 and Hekate 5.7.0.
If I try to open a game, it gives me a "Checking if you can play this game" message.

I just tried to update sigpatches via all-in-one updater, Totaljustices sigpatch updater, and manually. No luck.

What could be amiss?
Try launching Atmosphere via fusee instead of Hekate.
Hello :D ,Can someone tell me what is the system memory in tinfoil? Can I install games on it?
System memory is your console.

Sorry for quoting whole message but I used hekate to formate to fat32

there is several here on GBATemp, it depends what you want to do, I do recommend use the search function at top right of page, and if you use google you will find which is a very friendly one.
Thanks! i found what i was looking for:D

Sorry, I meant to ask how was your HDD formatted?
Oh I’m not sure but I haven’t changed it from how it was when tinfoil was recognising it till after I had to format my sd card if that makes sense. Like it’s the same hdd all that changed between it working and not working is formatting my sd card.

Hello. I successfully got homebrew running but i am unable to get Tinfoil installed / running. Images attached. I tried the NSP and self installer with no success.

Do i just need to update my Switch firmware? Is it enough to remove the SD card and update without getting banned? I blocked the DNS before using firmware.

As long as i do everything in the emucc and remove the SD card before going online, i should be fine right ? Ty

Well if it was formatted to exFAT, that would explain the corruption since the Switch tends to corrupt anything formatted as exFAT.

I highly recommend just using TinWoo Installer instead as it is what I always personally use & recommend because I've never ever had any issues while using it.

No my SD card thwt I play games on has always been fat32 before it corrrupted and after. My hdd that I use to install games into my sd card used to read fine on tinfoil and now since my sd card got corrupt and I started fresh won’t read anymore. I haven’t done anything different to the hdd itself.

I wasn't talking about your SD card. The problems you listed were related to your HDD if its not being read. Your SD card won't have any affect on your HDD. And even if you didn't do anything differently to the HDD, if it was formatted to exFAT as I suggested earlier, it could eventually corrupt.

Ok I think I understand. But what can I do to install games bigger than 4.7 especially on atmosphere I can’t run xci on an external hard drive. That’s why I used my hdd (external if there’s any confusion) to put large games on and installed them via tinfoil. If I format the hdd to fat32 as well I’m stuck ?

quest about updating my modded switch from 13.1.0 to 13.2.0. is it safe to update directly on my console then update the atmosphere files? im sorry because im new to this. i tried searching but all guide that i found is just updating atmosphere. what is not clear to me is updating the console itself. sorry for my english.

Hi guys,i'm looking for an android app that is compatible with sysDVR to record various gameplay with the Switch.

Thank you Sir for answering all my questions. Later today, I'll go through the second guide and attempt to get my Switch up and running.

You've also been a great help whilst explaining ES, FS & Loader patches. Before I begin reading through this guide, do you know if all of this is covered there? Don't worry if you don't know, I'll go ahead and check. Ideally though, I'm looking for a comprehensive guide because I'm a complete and utter n00b when it comes to the Nintendo Switch. This will be a first for me.

Well you can split your .XCI files since SX OS offers that type of support but if you continue to use exFAT, you risk corruption. The only other piece of advice I can offer is to just be as careful as possible to avoid corruption.

If your console is hacked, I wouldn't recommend going online otherwise you risk getting banned. If you want a safe way to update your firmware in terms of avoiding a potential ban, you can use the homebrew application Daybreak which comes bundled with Atmosphere.

I'm only saying this in case this post gets buried. I personally do not know of any so it might be worth making your own thread or asking elsewhere.

What exactly do you mean by "all of this"? If you mean the differences between the patches, very few resources have the full breakdown. If you mean general Switch hacking, everything is pretty much explained from start to finish. Ironically, the only thing not covered in that guide are the patches although that's mainly due to the guide predating patches. Don't let that dissuade you from following that guide because not only is it one of the first guides but also Switch hacking hasn't changed since the main exploit, Fusee Gelee, was leaked way back in April 2019; all guides cover that same exploit although that guide also mentions the only other viable exploit called Deja Vu but it requires a firmware of 4.1 or below.
