PS1/2 Is there a way to format 2TB HDD for PS2 without a PS2?

I got my new 2TB HDD today that I will use to load games for my ps2 fat console. However, I won't get the SATA interface adapter for it until next. Is there a way I can prepare the hard drive, e.g. format for ps2 and load games - without the adapter?

WinHIIP doesn't recognize the drive since it's > 1TB, so that's out. So far, all the non-WinHIIP instructions I've found require connecting the drive to the ps2 and using the uLauncher to format the drive.

I may just have to wait until I get the adapters so that I can do that, but , being the impatient person that I am, if there is a way to get started earlier, I'd like to do get started.

It worked out in the end. I got the Game Star adapter today. I formatted the drive and made the +OPL partition with uLaunchElf and the used HDL Dump GUI to transfer game image files to the 2TB drive. Well, the transfer is still in progress but it seems to be going well!

I think next I'm going to learn how to make FMCB mem cards so that I can use an updated version of the apps. The one I bought on eBay is v1.93

Pro-tip - Run the game transfer apps as "Administrator" or face some strange error messages!

You can do so with FMCBoot installer, just put the files on a USB flash drive and launch the .Elf in ulaunch there it's pretty straight forward, it gives the option to format the MC as well as installing FMCBoot on it.
You're not FHDBoot since you're using a internal HDD?
