They don't want to be named because they want to be on Nintendo's good side. 1 dev screwed up, Zynga came out and they are developing the new starwars game.
So there's only actually one dev that has mentioned this supposed 4K Switch. Not a very reputable or major one, at that. And was it really mentioned after OLED Switch's announcement, or before?

I'd also appreciate a link still.

star wars on the switch would be pretty neat. I love no more heroes, acting like you're wielding a lightsabre or something. I bought all four games on that system. using the pro controller or a normal control in general with motion controls just feels awkward. I've been playing Ratchet and Clank on the ps5, and I love the feel of that controller more than the switch pro one. there's a weird feel to the R and L2 buttons that you get in game, not really when you just push the buttons when the console is off or in rest mode. there's almost a vibration feel to it. not sure how to explain it.
Zynga is working on Starwars Hunters

Zynga is a major company as they are making a game for the Switch. You as a company don't want to ruin your trust with Nintendo as that can be damaging to your partnership moving forward. Zynga screwed up and had their name public that they had a 4k dev kit.

Right, but what's the source of this rumor? Yes, it's still a rumor. Bloomberg reporting on false tech news is too common.

Zynga themselves

They allowed their name to be publicly displayed.

Bloomberg usually reports rumors. And when it turns out to be false they just say we'll it was just a rumor. But never has a dev allowed their name to be publicly displayed before.

So again, one developer, who immediately recanted.

Bloomberg said:
After publication, Zynga spokeswoman Sarah Ross disputed what the people familiar with the matter said. “To clarify, Zynga does not have a 4K developer kit from Nintendo,” she said in a statement.
Seems like a bad translation or just a miscommunication somewhere along the chain. Like a game of telephone.

Then there's Bloomberg, who also admit to their own bad track record of reporting when it comes to Switch rumors in the same article:

Bloomberg said:
Bloomberg began reporting on details of the product more than a year ago, including the bigger OLED display, the fall release and the higher price. It was also supposed to contain a faster chip from Nvidia Corp. that would enable 4K graphics when connected to a television, people familiar with the plan said in March. Nvidia declined to comment.

But the 4K capability didn’t come to pass. It’s unclear exactly when the design changed. The reason, according to a person familiar with Nintendo’s hardware planning, was component shortages, a far-reaching problem born out of the Covid-19 pandemic. After unveiling the Switch OLED, Nintendo said it had “no plans for launching any other model at this time.”
"We totally BS'd you for more than a year, but we promise we aren't doing it this time."

At this point I'm pretty sure they get all their info from Reddit comments.

Not just one developer many other dev small and major who want to stay un-named said they had 4k dev kits.

Combine that with zynga officially allowed to be named that's just overwhelming evidence.

Recanted after Nintendo called and had a good long talk with them.

You're blindly trusting Bloomberg on these unnamed sources. They could be Redditors. Or 4Chan trolls. Not to mention that they're being super vague about "4K capability." That could just as easily mean 4K video output, which is something the Nvidia Shield TV already does with the same SoC as Switch.

No, recanted after Bloomberg published that ridiculous article. It specifically says as much.

Zynga is NOT a verifiable source. Especially considering we have no real confirmation of this claim. I can just as easily come out and say a random employee from a known company said this or that. That's all these "Switch Pro" rumors are.

Going to need more credible sources than a "Zynga Dev" with nothing to verify this.

Don't get me wrong, I want a Switch Pro. I have wanted one since the rumors started in 2019.

That is a carefully worded post. They may not have gotten a dev kit from Nintendo. But got one from a publishing partner.

So that public statement is true but not the whole truth. To cover up that fact that they have a dev kit. Its all PR speak.

Think about what you're saying: they got a 4K Nintendo Switch dev kit from a company other than Nintendo. Specifically to develop a mobile-quality F2P multiplayer game that's also coming to smartphones. I'm all for wishful thinking, but that's still a bit much man. You're gonna feel real silly when gameplay footage of that Star Wars title is released.

Nintendo has issued for a patent for dlss. Nintendo is exploring the possible use of dlss.

Never has 11 devs and zynga publicly named stated that they had access to a dev kit. Bloomberg did their homework this time around after being shut down earlier this year by Nintendo. Never has Bloomberg done this before. And Zynga is definitely a source.

With nothing to verify this, it's a rumor. You repeating the same things doesn't change that fact. And I specifically said "verifiable" source. There's nothing, that you've posted or that is available, that proves a dev from Zynga said any of this. Just reports of some claims.

Also, Nintendo has filed a patent for a billion things.

Bloomberg has not issued an apology to Zynga saying that they lied about what they said.

Bloomberg has never gave a direct name. They usually say from inside sources without naming any company.

This time around they gave a name, Zynga. Which they never do. And no apology for making a lie. Which publication has ever gave a direct name for their source before? Never. You don't see Bloomberg coming out and saying EA says they have access to the new Microsoft console. They normally say inside sources says Microsoft is working on a new console. Without naming names.

Individual people within zynga did not what to be named as they were not allowed to talk about it publicly.

Nintendo issues many random patents. But usually not connected. The dlss patient is just piled on evidence to the 4k dev kit.

Sony and Micrsoft has had 4k output for 2 console generations now. To think Nintendo will not release a next gen console with 4k output is hilarious.

Who said Nintendo won't release one? 🤔 None of what you said validates these claims. I'm asking for verification to these claims. Not why you think they're true. I've also never said Nintendo won't release an updated Switch. Let alone one with 4k output. I just want proof that this isn't a rumor. Not speculation.

What's worse about this rumor is that we don't even have ANY credible names behind it. Literally just a claim that 11 devs claim to have kits. One of which (Zynga) you're implying doesn't even officially have a kit based on specific wording? Does none of this strike you as odd?

I have no idea what you're asking for.

I already gave the Bloomberg article as the source. What other source is there?

You want something that says with quotation marks?

"We have 4k switch dev kit" - zynga

lol
