My Switch which is set to output in 1080p looks very blurry on my 2160p [4K] tv even though it should scale perfectly.

I have tried games that are 540p, 360p and 270p but none of them scale 1:1 on my 4K tv even though they should 4x, 6x and 8x to 4k. They look fine on my 1080p tv though so I don't get what I am doing wrong.

I have turned on gaming mode and turned off sharpening filters but it doesn't work.

My TV is a TCL QM6K.

I have a QM8K and it looks great. The lastest fw has also improved things quite a bit from when I got it three months ago. What firmware version is your TV on? It's listed under Settings/System/About/Produce Information

Hello, sorry it's actually a C6K according to the details.

It is on 509 I think.

You can upscale to 4k but you need like double upscalers, Marseille mClassic and PhotoFast 4K Gamer Pro

I see your posts over at XDA. :P

543 is the latest for your model but I believe very few people have it and it has not been uploaded anywhere. The latest for the majority is 538. You can grab that here: https://xdaforums.com/t/tcl-2025-go...q7c-c8k-c9k-x11k.4712660/page-8#post-90255924

After installing the update, do a complete factory reset of the television.
I think mine is Q6C then as when I try this it says that the package could not be verified.

Is there anything after 509 for that?

I don't want to spend more money as I already have a 1080p tv... I just want this one to work normally as it should do

I'd honestly just sell anything that bastardizes my media and move on.
No one is going to buy it from me

Update: I installed the update and reset but still the ugliness has not gone away...

Did you ever figure out which TV you actually own? LOL!

Post pics of all settings and I can take a look to see if there's anything that may be causing it (although a lot should be automatically disabled in game mode). At the same time, I'm not sure how good the upscaler in that tv is.

Well Switch one when docked it only output 1080p so there isn't much you can do without upscaler.

Yes I checked my receipt and it's a Q6C, lol.

Here are my picture settings:

Picture mode: Games [changing it doesn't fix anything]

ALLM on

VRR on

Games mode on

Clarity options all off

Motion options all off

16:9 mode

CEC on

Color: original

I played it on a 1440p monitor once and it looked fine...

Any cheap upscaler that just does a 4x multiple and nothing else?

I would try disabling VRR and then also making sure that the HDMI input the Switch is using is set to use "Standard" HDMI mode or "HDMI 1.4". If it's set to "Enhanced" or to "HDMI 2.0" (or above), then change it to Standard/HDMI 1.4. Switch does not use VRR and only outputs HDMI 1.4 so those two things could be effecting the image. If that doesn't help, about the only bandaid is turning up the sharpness.

I'm not familiar with external upscalers so someone else will have to comment on that.

I tried both of these but it looks just as bad. Sharpness slider can't fix anything as it doesn't actually remove the extra lines of pixels added by image processing.
try adjust the Switch output setting Full Range , Limited Range, Auto?
I have tried, it stays the same.

Check the sharpness and contrast settings, and try following the settings recommendations rtings gives for their test unit.

Chances are the sharpness in particular, and auto contrast, are making the image artificially more blurry than it should be.

Edit: Specifically they recommend sharpness 10 to avoid ringing, the white pixels you're seeing.

I was wrong it is acually Q6C. Still, I tried these steps but the problem is unsolved.

I think it is due to some sort of image post processing rather than any filters.
