'Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut' launches next month; includes PS5-specific enhancements

Sucker Punch Productions announced today that a new version of their game, Ghost of Tsushima, will launch soon. Launching on both PS4 and PS5, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will include the original game, all additional content released to date as well as a brand-new adventure for Jin in Iki Island.

While the new adventure will be available on both PS4 and PS5, the PS5 version will include some additional features across the whole game. It will fix lip sync for Japanese voice over thanks to the console's ability to render cinematics in real time. The PS5's 3D audio and its controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will be put to use in the Director’s Cut. There will also be improved load times, 4K resolution options and framerates targeting 60 FPS.

Players will also be able to transfer their saves from the PS4 to the PS5 and carry on where they left off.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut launches this August 20 for $69.99 USD on PS5 and $59.99 USD on PS4.

You can pre-order an upgrade to Director’s Cut on PS4 for $19.99 USD. Starting August 20, if you bought Director’s Cut PS4, you’ll be able to upgrade to Director’s Cut PS5 at any time for $9.99 USD. You can also upgrade directly (from original Ghost of Tsushima PS4) to Director’s Cut on PS5 for $29.99 USD

Game is beautiful on PS4, so I'm curious to see how good it'll look on PS5.

But no free PS5 upgrade for people who already own the game = big fat fucking pass. I'm sure as shit not paying $70 for a slight upgrade and DLC, kthx. EDIT: Since @Prans didn't include VITAL INFORMATION in his post :angry: I'm still not paying $30 for a slight upgrade and DLC, kthx.

;O;

You can also upgrade directly (from original Ghost of Tsushima PS4) to Director’s Cut on PS5 for $29.99 USD

Was a great game. Has its issues but was overall a great, albeit felt slightly empty, game. Feel like if they did it like a 20-30 buck upgrade for the PS5 version if you own the PS4 version, it would sell pretty well.

Edit: Guess I missed the part about upgrading lol. All the same though. Lol

I waited a year and I get a full version with upgrades.... I'll wait another year to get it with PS+, or at least a "goty" 75% sale. (edit : Or even PSNow, which a year is cheaper than a single game O_O)
I'm not in a hurry to try that game, but I plan to try it one day :)
I'm just waiting patiently, until the price is right. Don't get it at 80€ if you don't want it at that price.

I hate to poke the bear but I believe Microsoft is offering free upgrades for their games for the Series-X . It's kinda the same how they did for some of the older 360/Xbox games that was ehnahced on Xbox One X.I wonder why Sony cant follow suit what's the point of making the game BC if you are not going to upgrade it for free... even more why even release a PS5 version at all when you can upgrade the PS4 version.

I'll just tell people to just play the PS4 version if they already have the game.

Well Sony does have free upgrades, there are some 50+ games so far that have a free upgrade if you own the PS4 version, which is what makes this particular one a problem.

There's no reason beyond petty cashgrab they couldn't just do exactly what Squeenix did with FF7 Remake, give the base game as a free upgrade and then if you want the DLC you can just buy it.
