Hi

I decided to buy an Xbox 360 to mod. Is the only way to modd it to install emulators using a JTAG or is there a softmod?

Thanks

JTAG/RGH only.
I recommend getting a Slim one.
Matte blacks are harder to hack or require more hardware.
I've modded tons of Matte black ones, how are they harder, am I missing something?
@gonefishing1975 Depending on what console you get 16MB NAND vs 4GB NAND, you will need some common tools and some specific tools.

I've also done hundreds of Slims and it's no issue for me.

Don't forget that some people don't possess the soldering skills like we do.

Not all all of them. 4GB trinity consoles are matte and are hacked exactly the same as the glossy ones as the trinity is just a 16MB nand + seperate 4GB memory module. Matte ones automatically being harder or needing more stuff is just bad info.

Not sure about recent, but I learned from this guy on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheWeekendModder
I don't agree on how he does somethings but it's a good place to start. I suggest you watch a few vids before you try anything.
If you can find out the model, Trinity/Corona I can post link directly to a vid and recommend some tools needed.
On the back of the console you will find the power requirements. Trinity needs 10A, Corona needs 9A.
