Naughty Dog is promoting Neil Druckmann to co-president of the company

After serving as the vice-president to the home of The Last of Us and Uncharted for three years, Naughty Dog has just promoted Neil Druckmann, known for his work on both aforementioned games, to co-president of the company alongside Evan Wells. Druckmann isn't the only one rising the ranks either--Naughty Dog's director of operations, Alison Mori, and programming director, Christian Gyrling, have been promoted to co-vice presidency. Druckmann has been with Naughty Dog since 2004, where his first project was assisting in programming Jak 3, and his most recent project will be his work on the HBO The Last of Us TV adaptation.

We have such an incredible team at Naughty Dog and being able to work alongside each and every one of them is especially meaningful these days. I feel proud of the team when I’m able to recognize their accomplishments and contributions to the studio. Please join me in giving them all a big congratulations!

...alright what?
While I haven't played either game (tell me if I left out something), from what I know Neil basically kicked the main writer of the story out of TLOU (which was doing great btw), messed up the main story in the sequel, made a self-insert in said sequel, everyone didn't like it...
and became co-president of NaughtyDog?
That doesn't really make sense from a business standpoint. If someone failed on a project that they were in charge of, they should at least be demoted at best or fired at worst.

OK, so no reason to get a PS5 anymore. Alrighty then, that was the argument to push me over the edge towards an Xbox this gen.

your forgetting that sony censors everything now
To be perfectly honest, I can't relate to the Nintendo or Sony censorship complaints. I always see those screenshots of differences between the Japanese and western versions of a given game, raise my eyebrow slightly and think "oh yeah, I can totally see why that was removed or altered". I am yet to see a modern egregious instance of game censorship from either manufacturer - I have no desire to play games with pre-teens in bikinis. Maybe I'm the weirdo, who knows.

When I think "weebs" i kinda see it as that market and Sony has been distancing themselves from japans weird stuff. PC is where its at for that but its a premium at the moment with prices

In all fairness, there are certain Japanese products that most people should distance themselves from. That's not to say that games with erotic undertones, or even straight up adult content are bad, but here in the west we have certain age rating restrictions. Sony seems to be erring on the safe side in this regard for games available on their ecosystem. I think it's fairly silly to accuse Sony of censoring games in an unreasonable fashion when the company published a huge number of games filled to the brim with nudity, gratuitous violence and other strictly adult elements. They're censoring *very specific type of content*, and I personally see no issues with that. Would I prefer the games to remain unchanged and true to the original "artistic intent"? Sure. Do I care all that deeply about the content affected? No, not really.

the silent majority made the game win (among others) best narrative, best playstation game and game of the year at the golden joystick awards. i already set my clock awaiting your next excuse why that site is somehow irrelevant, the vote was rigged, or similar
