Hi, I finally got around to trying this. Followed all the instructions as generated by ModMii (although they weren’t as straight forward as I thought they’d be]
So now, I’ve done the following:
1) installed homebrew channel
2) installed priiloader
3) installed the ios
4) installed the multi mod manager and all the WADs recommended by the ModMii guide
..........
Main problem: USB Loader keeps throwing me back out to the Wii menu [see more details below]
Other questions:
- do I still need to keep the SD card in and boot into that BootMii menu or can I go directly into the Wii menu like before
- are Wii remotes not supposed to work with the BootMii menu? I’m able to navigate using a GameCube controller but that’s annoying
.................
[1] Initially I thought that’s it - I copied a few WBFS files onto the root of my FAT32 formatted external hard drive and tried starting up USB Loader.

Result: USB Loader started up but didn’t show any games so...
..................
[2] Did some more research and thought maybe there’s more to setting up the external HD so I
- downloaded WBFS manager
- used it to format the external HD and copy a few games on it
- tried plugging it back into the Wii and launched USB Loader
- this time USB loader doesn’t start up at all - I get the USB loader ‘splash screen’ but it then automatically exits back into the Wii menu!

Hello,

Can you post a syscheck report by following this guide, thanks ==>https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

Which version of usb loader gx do you have?

Prefer version 1271 or 1268 of usb loader gx.

External hard drive in FAT 32 and use "" wii backup manager "".

Hello,

Which version of usb loader gx do you have?

Prefer version 1271 or 1268 of usb loader gx.

External hard drive in FAT 32 and use "" wii backup manager "".

Thanks for your guidance, the Syscheck results are below, in between spoiler tags as the guide instructed.

To your other question:
- USB Loader GX version: I don't know which version I have, I loaded the WADS based on the instructions from ModMii - the file name in the WADS folder in the SD card is "USBLoader(s)-ahbprot58-SD-USB-v12-IDCL.wad" if that's any indication?
- Using 'wii backup manager' for the external hard drive: thanks for the tip; does this have any bearing on why USB loader isn't running? It doesn't seem to load whether the hard drive is plugged or not

Do you have an original Nintendo Wii Motion Controller with/without Motion Plus please ?
I suspect it has to do with your System Menu Version 4.1U that the Installer maybe not work.:(
Which Exploit did you use to run the HackMii Installer please ? Letterbomb is only working with Version 4.3x.
(I hope I did not overread something, you have many Posts/Updates.:D).

Thank you.:)

Hey, it turns out I'd made mistakes in following the instructions for ModMii <facepalm> . Thanks for your patience - it all seems to be working now!

Questions regarding BootMii. Now that I’ve successfully soft modded my Wii using ModMii with homebrew and usb loader all working. I have a simple question
1) Do I still need to use the SD card with BootMii every time I start up my Wii or can I now remove it?
2) if I must keep the SD card in from now on, can I boot straight into the Wii menu (like before)? If so, how? Reason is, it doesn’t seem like Wiimotes work with BootMii so constantly having to reach for the GameCube controller to press A to proceed to boot up is slightly annoying

thanks, in advance, for your advice

Hello Again(After a year of my last post saying that I will post a SysCheck)

So I haven't fiddled with my WIi for years, although it plays whatever backups I made and loaded into the HDD, is there anything I really should update?
Also, It seems that I can't access my SD from Wii Menu(Wii just freezes) I can recall that its something related to a file in SD could somebody enlight me?
Thanks

an advice :

always leave the SD card in the Wii, in case ?? (after you judge).

rename "bootmii" to "bootm" on your SD card, and normally you will have to start normally on the wii menu.

Glad it works again.

I hadn't used mine for years either, thanks to software such as ModMii I have now updated everything (Priiloader, BootMii HBC etc etc) and it's still working great.

Hello everyone i have ran into a problem with a certain wii black rvl 101
it does't work with my hp16gb usb on either wii usb loaders or nintendont
but that same usb works on my other wii white rvl 101 wii both wii usb loaders and nintendont but my other personal 8gb kingstan usb works perfectly on my white rvl 101 as well as this black rvl 101. i have install all cios as well.
But the strangest wii of all I have seen is this Wii rvl 101 black.Strange thing is:
1: This wii has Zero bad blocks in bootmii nand dump.
2: In hackmii installer 1.2 it shows this Boot2 injected with bootmii loader fail to pass consistency checks.
3: USB loaders sometimes work with. This hp 16gb usb and nintendont shows game but is always stuck on init game.
4: Strangest thing of All of it is that in syscheck report Boot2 is shown as Boot2 v5.
5: I have tried to install boot2 v4 with
WAD Manager v1.5 and it gave me
error stating(aborted for safety of wii)
6: This Wii black rvl-101 boots
Wii games from internal 8gb sdcard
just fine no lag or hang.

This version v5 of boot2 is not available
anywhere on internet and even in nus
downloader latest available version is
Boot2 v4. I have checked.I think I might be first one or one of these rare ones who encountered it.
Can i extract this boot2 v5 from this console nand dump. Is it possible ?.
Is this whats preventing me from using my usb on this Wii black rvl-101.

I can't answer to all that's going on above other then recommend your 16GB flash drive is probably the problem. Even though it works on one they are finicky even between units.

I recommend getting an external hard drive with separate power supply or use a Y-cable to make sure it's properly powered and try it between both units to see if the issue persists. My recommendation for you would be to get a 2TB Western Digital Passport with Y-Cable and make sure it's formatted properly FAY32 with 32k cluster size.

As for the other stuff coming up weird I'm sure someone with knowledge will chime in shortly.

Its not mine but of a customer both Wii black rvl-101 console and the hp16gb usb.He just asked for the usb with games so i brought this hp 16gb usb transfers games to usb with wbfs and used on my own console and worked without problem. ITs still works on my console but not his console.
Not even nintendont it always gets stuck at Init DI...
i have encountered a bit similar situation before with 16 gb flash drive which was an sd card soldered to usb.it din't ran any wii games always got stuck at loading screen safety screen loader not responding. But worked flawless with nintendont.and my kinsgston 8gb works with wii usbloaders but with nintendont games are only detected if plugged right in when checking for storage drive is shown on screen in nintendont something i figured after a lot of struggle with to get BATMAN BEGINS to play on my white wii.

Any way i am thinking of giving him a different wii and keep this one to find out more about this Boot2 v5
