As factories begin to reopen in China, Sony is confident in the PS5 still launching by end of 2020

Despite concerns over COVID-19 causing a delay in next-gen gaming console production, Sony appears to believe that things will proceed as planned, with the PlayStation 5 still launching later this year. Two of Sony's Chinese factories are set to return to a normal operating procedure, but the company is reportedly dealing with component shortages. In a comment to Bloomberg, Sony officially stated that even with the issues regarding closed offices in the UK and Malaysia and higher than usual operating costs leading to a loss in yearly profit, "it doesn't see any notable impact on the launch of its next-generation game console PlayStation 5 planned at the end of this year". They are also "carefully monitoring the risk of delays in production schedules for game software titles".

if thers hardly any new cases being reported then ther shouldnt be a problem getting things back to normal
Being reported, this doesn’t account for the unreported cases nor untreated cases. Prematurely starting things back up could result in worsening the problem by making another outbreak. There is no reason to risk making things worse over a video game system.

I'm pretty sure a place like china ain't tht stupid now to let another outbreak affect them - if ther is a few reported cases then you could lockdown tht City or citys but this could go on for a while in the next few months with just a few cases here and there- you can't close the whole country for 6 months or a year people just won't stay in for tht long -it's gonna be tough choices for every country how to deal with this at the moment but yeh I agree lockdown if cases get out of control

I am not upset about reopening facilities, I am upset that they want to reopen them just to prevent delays. I understand delays suck, but it’s kind of gotta be accepted that a delay for the sake of prevention is the right course of action.

i'd like to see it run 4k/60 games WITH ray-tracing when pc can't even do it even with a 2080 ti! what a bunch of lies both sony and xbox
That's one of the reasons why I got the 1080Ti instead of 2080Ti and the price is one of them. I ain't paying €1400 for a GPU and will never do.

Exactly. A virus is not something you can control it, especially if it's happened in 2003(?) Sony has other division to take care of.

but we all know $ony will beat M$ in terms of software just like last gen
though both last gen system were pretty shit tier in terms of games TBH

CCP lies just because they are not reporting cases that does not mean anything
also i just read that they shut all movies theaters in China again
i think $ony is full of shit too , they are just placating their investors,
where are the new TX chips? they were supposed to be taking preorders and giving us more news by now, i don't even think the test units have gone out , they can't get the parts because shits still fukt in China
if TX can't get parts for a small batch of little mod chips i don't think $ony will be able to meet demand for PS5

Dunno if its a good idea to buy a ps5 at launch... If they reopen factories to create them and speed it up to get the lost time back then it could come with problems on the console layer for those who bought the rushed batch.

From what I've seen so far, there's no immediate reason to get one on the date of release.
I don't know about that...I'm looking forward to that sweet, sweet 1.0 firmware. :yayps3:

Also, people hoping that Series X will cost the same as PS5 are dreaming. It's gonna be $100 more at the very least.
