I have freeshop installed but im not understanding the steps afterwards of being able to get games can someone please help me out?

Freeshop is dead and has been for a while if you wish to procure pirated software you have to search for the title on varies shady websites

I have a better solution, buy your games. If you don't want to pay there's demo/free games section on the eshop

Finding the games is the easiest part. Well, converting it to CIA from 3DS/CXI is a bit of a pain, but it gets done eventually.

So yeah, can't name where you find the games but they're out there.

3dsconv or 3DS Simple CIA Converter to mass convert 3DS roms to CIAs.
custom-install to directly install CIAs to the SD card.
faketik to restore missing tickets.
Cthulhu to unwrap all HOME Menu gift icons.

Edit 1 - Oh, forgot to mention. If you somehow corrupt your SD card's title.db and/or import.db from updating or adding more games to the Nintendo 3DS folder, here are signs of damaged database [1] and [2].

• rebuild-title-database [PC based]
  
• CTRTransfer (Type D9) - Rebuild 3DS Database [GodMode9]
  • Go with Option (A) Quick if you have many titles, like more than 64 GB worth of installed stuff.

Edit 2 - To clone the Nintendo 3DS folder between two (2) or more 3DS systems, see SDTransfer methods.

• (Very Messy Tutorial) SDTransfer: Moving or cloning a (source) system's Nintendo 3DS folder to another (target) system.
• Copying SD Card content to other system's SD Card (ID0)
• Merging 4 sd cards to 1.

Those options are a lot easier than going to FBI/GM9, but at this point I've converted all games I wanted to CIA so I'm all good.
