Thanks :D
So, I have read around that rcm mode can damage the battery of the switch if rcm mode is prolonged for a long time. So basically a person must be carefull that the switch is turned off and is not in rcm mode. How can I distinguish is the console is off or in rcm?
Can you tell me how to auto rcm mode? There are other risks?
It needs to be plugged into a computer or phone that can detect if the console is in RCM or not. Also stop saying "RCM Mode"; I just told you that you are being redundant and just saying Recovery Mode mode. You don't say PIN number, HIV virus, or LCD display.

My questions are probably really dumb, but please be patient with me. I want to do the rcm/hekate/atmosphere thing, but don't have the hardware yet.

Is it possible to keep your switch and games reliably updated, without completely powering off and leaving the rcm? Also does removing the sd card while in recovery make the switch power off? What are the things that I should avoid, if I don't want to boot into the stock firmware ever?

Game updates can be downloaded on your computer and installed to your Switch without turning off the console if you use novelties such as USB or wireless installation. Firmware updates though may require you to turn off the console as there are no ways of doing a USB or wireless firmware installation. The only alternative would be to transfer those files via FTP or USB then install them through a homebrew application.

Removing the SD card while the console is on will turn it off however it is fine to remove the SD card while the console is off. RCM treats the console as off since the operating system has not yet booted.

And if you want to avoid booting stock firmware, you can enable AutoRCM to make it so your console always boots into RCM however this also means you will need to use a payload in order to use the console.

Thank you so much! I have another question now, does the sd card need to be in the console for autoRCM to work?
AutoRCM is something that you install into your console. More specifically, it is stored in the BOOT0 which you will learn more about once you get around to dumping your NAND. In short, the SD card does not need to be inserted for AutoRCM to function.

Seems as if this error code relates to the console not being on the latest firmware which ReiNX does not support yet. Either update your firmware and switch to a CFW that supports 9.1 or restore a NAND dump made before using Kefir.

Well, Reinx so far doesnt support 9.1, so i guess i will use the 6.2.0 Nand backup i have and upgrade again to 8.1.0 via Choi to fix the problem, just to be sure, i checked my fuse count beforehand which is still 8 / 64 (Which means it was on 6.2.0 before i hacked the unit), so i shouldnt brick my switch with the backup i have at hand.
God i hope it doesnt brick.
And if i remember right, i dont need to deactivate autorcm since the nand backup does that by itself correct?

You can always check what firmware each fuse count corresponds to by visiting this link. And restoring your backup will only deactivate AutoRCM if it was dumped before enabling it. More specifically, if you dumped BOOT0 before activated AutoRCM, the BOOT0 you dumped will not have AutoRCM pre-installed.

So I've got a Switch with CFW6.2 and my EMUMMC running 8.1 (Choi).
I have to upgrade the EMUMMC because I want to install the 1.1 update for pokemon.

I could upgrade the EMUMMC (Choi) to 9.1 without updating the gamecart reader.

I can also restore my clean 6.2 firmware, and update it to OFW 9.1 and reinstall emummc with CFW 9.1. What are the greatest downsides of this option? Someone might find new exploit on a lower firmware but why would they? There is no need for it.

In short my question is: What are the real life greatest downsides of upgrading the OFW to the latest version?

I have FW 7 something and Atmosphere 8.4. I tried to update atmosphere using the guide at "NH Switch guide" but I can't get it to work.

I tried to use the automatic updater as described, both placing it on the SD card myself and using HB store. The app crashes on startup. Then I tried to download the new Atmosphere manually replacing my Atmosphere folder and the Sept folder on my SD card and replacing reboot_to_payload.nro in the Switch folder. Then the guide tells me to copy my reboot_payload.bin to the Atmosphere folder. From what I understand of the guide, this is my old file? As the new one is already there from when I replaced the entire folder. However, I can't launch Atmosphere so I must have done something wrong. Any hints?

If you aren't using an emuNAND, just format the new SD card as FAT32 using guiformat and copy/paste the files and folders from the old SD card to the new SD card.

I don't follow. If your emuNAND is already dirty, use ChoiDujourNX to update it to 9.1.0. There is no reason not to update your emuNAND to 9.1.0.

I recommend the following steps:
  1. Make a NAND backup with Hekate if you haven't already. Store it somewhere safe.
  2. Make sure your SD card is formatted as FAT32
  3. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (that would be folders like /sept/ and /atmosphere/)
  4. Download the latest Atmosphere from github
  5. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  6. Download these signature patches
  7. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  8. Put the SD into your Switch
  9. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary
It is also recommended that you update your dirty NAND to 9.1.0 using ChoiDujourNX.

I may be stupid but I can't get it to work. I replaced the atmosphere and sept folder and placed the .nro file in the switch folder. When I try to load CFW via my AceNS dongle it just say like "failed to run sept"

Edit: I just realized you told me to run Atmosphere using fusee-primary, I don't know how I do that?

Edit: I put the Fusee-primary.bin in the AceNS dongle. I got to boot the switch and Atmosphere logo is shown at start up. However, when the switch is booted, I can't run any games or go to HB menu, just like if I boot the original FW.

My switch falls in the category of possibly patched units, serial number is XAJ7004xxxxxxx, but i used the rcmjig with the results. Can i still hack my unit?? if yes, where can i start? my version is 9.1.0 latest.

Your switch is indicated as NOT PATCHED based on the 0x7000 output.

I dont believe I can post links so use the latest atmosphere guide. ( or if you like to pay for software use SXOS)
be sure to format your sd card to FAT32 beforehand, there is lots of debate on this but every home brew application recommends using FAT32 for a reason :D

I have to leave my country for some time, and I want to bring my cfw switch with me. The fact is that for keeping the console on the cfw I am keeping it on rest mode, but for a long travel it would be difficult to recharge the console all the time. I would like to keep the console to rest a bit turning it off. The problem is that I don't have the jig and the exploit tool, so is it possible to enable the console, each time I turn it on, to directly boot in rcm mode?
You can get yourself a MicroUSB to USB-C OTG cable (with the mirco USB side being the host!) and install autoRCM so you can boot CFW from your phone without a jig.

This looks good. You should try to inject hekate and see if you get it to load.
If it does, follow the initial tutorials (backup boot0/1 and system as well as your keys with lockpick_rcm etc)

EDIT: wow I'm late...

Restored my 6.2.0 without any problems, thanks again for your continued help.
I guess this time i will test out Kosmos/Atmosphere before trying out ReiNX again.

Hello All,
It's been a while since I'm using cfw and I never connected my switch to internet so it's still not banned.

But, I'd like to try to connect it to internet for ftp mainly. What's the current best way to not get banned ? 90dns still working without any ban ?

Also, just to be sure, nand backup doesn't unban right ?

Thanks guys

No, there are no public exploits that allow CFW loading on Mariko or ipatched Switches.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I suspect you have a bad dongle.
If your Switch is charged (not drained dead), you should only need to power it down (power 20s), plug in your dongle, press power once and inject.
Connect your Switch to your PC, follow above steps and see if it gets detected. If not there is some other problem.

Thanks for the reply!!

90DNS or Incognito. No, restoring a NAND backup doesn't unban since the ban is server sided.

I dont know how i did it, but i broke my power button software side, i mean with that, when i press or hold the power button, literally nothing will happen and all i did was restoring my nand with boot0/1 to a 6.2.0 clean Nand and then upgrading to 8.0.1 via Choi and then i started using Atmosphere.

Edit: Nevermind at least holding the power button for 12 seconds force shuts off the console, but thats not exactly what i want.
Edit 2: Well forget it, for whatever reason it works again - what i did was just sending the fusee primary payload via Tegra Gui again.
