  • Is it possible to uncap some 3DS games past 60FPS? For example I'm extremely grateful for the 60 on Devil Survivor but god is that game so extremely slow

    Yeah, I basically said that, but with my words :P

    The "speed code" is actually just looking at a timer inside the system (don't know what the games use, but the 3DS has very precise CPU clock source which updates 134055928 times a second (half the CPU speed)), and it calculates the elapsed time compared to the last frame's clock time, and updates the physics based on that.

    But in most 3DS games I know, this is hardcoded to a value like 16.66666, or 33 (or 33.3333), which means that the game advances that many miliseconds of time per frame. Assuming this value is matched very closely to the refresh rate of the LCD, it's going to be not noticable. But if you overdrive or underclock the LCD, you'll notice that the game is running too fast or too slow.

    @Sono Ohh so that's delta time variable calculation :P Sorry, like i said before my knowledge its next to none, so i didn't know that was the name of said effect. Thanks for the explanation n.n
