Why would you want to unlink the account? Having a linked account is objectively worse than not having one at all since certain games require a linked account in order to be played.

Thanks for the help, but does it matter for what i want it? Im just asking if theres a way, if not, no problem then.

So, is there a way to do it?

I’m currently on firmware 4.1 and with an sx os emunand on 8.1, I want to update my emunand 9.0.1 but I am a bit confused about the game cartridge reader’s fuse thing.

1. Does just updating to 9.0.1 burn the fuses in the game cart reader? Or does this only happen if/when I put a physical game cart into the slot after updating to 9.0.1?

2. Does using a game cart backup (xci?) avoid burning the fuses on the game cart reader?

3. Does sx os have some protection against this so as long as I’m in cfw the game cart reader won’t burn fuses no matter what I do?

Try entering Maintenance Mode on your emuMMC partition by performing the usual button combo but when you boot into emuMMC.

  1. It is updated at around the same time fuses are burnt meaning whenever you turn on the console while running firmware 9.X without the nogc patch
  2. Since the update is applied at boot, this question is irrelevant since the fuse will already be burnt or not when the .XCI file is launched
  3. As it is closed-source, it is hard to tell

thank you greatly for the reply. i just did some reading about "nogc patch". seems like it's atmosphere only? my new question is when i update to 9.X using choidujournx and then boot into cfw in sx os, would i be able to play my game carts? and if yes, that would mean i can no longer play them on a lower firmware? does the game cart fuses being burnt have any affect on .xci files? meaning is there a situation where i could play xci files on 9.X but not be able to play them on any lower firmware because the game cart reader fuses were burnt?

Nogc is only available on free and open source CFW such as Atmosphere and ReiNX. You can only play cartridges on firmware 9.X if you burn the cartridge slot fuse on 9.X which also prevents you from playing them on firmware versions below 9.0. However I believe it doesn't have any affect on .XCI files.

Thank you for the speedy reply. it's very clear. if you don't mind, one more question...

I heard that 9.0.1 breaks compatibility with homebrew in that they won’t register button inputs. Granted this is not an issue for more popular homebrew as I would just need to get the latest version of said homebrew.

However, I believe I heard that sx os has some compatibility feature so that older non updated homebrew will still register inputs. is this true/functional? I have an irrational fear that some older/abandoned homebrew will never get updated.

Planning to homebrew my switch. I'm planning to have a separate SD card for the sysNAND and the emuMAND. Is there something I should take note of? Like updating the firmware etc. ?

I have not heard such a thing.

There's not much point in having 2 SD cards for sysMMC and emuMMC unless you really cannot afford the space on one SD card.

Do you think in the future Nintendo might read the other partition in my SD card and result to a ban?
Nintendo reading files on the SD card is about as likely as pigs flying. Not only is it completely unreliable because hackers can change the names or the types of the files used for CFW and homebrew but it can also lead to false positives where users who don't even hack can get banned just because the SD card is inserted with those files.

Okay okay last question: how do I update the emuMMC? Will it affect the burning of fuses (?) I can also update sysNAND normally without problems right?

Its theoretically impossible to burn fuses with emuMMC. That is because to boot into emuMMC with Fusee Gelee, you need to use a custom bootloader as your RCM payload and these nowadays bypass the fuse check by default. And while you can update sysMMC normally, this will also irreversibly burn fuses which has no advantage over protecting fuses; no one has been banned for having a mismatched fuse count yet.

Ok I am very new to this. I checked ismyswitchpatched website and it says it's not patched? my s/n is *** the website would only let me put up until *** and it said it wasn't patched? so is mine hackable then? my switch version is 9.0.1 also do you still need a piece of metal or whatever it is to mod the switch? can you play online and not be banned? I heard you can run games online as long as you actually own them on sysnand or something? there's sysnand and emunand right and emunand will be the CFW porition of your switch?

Is it hard to do? i'm a little scared having to deal with physical objects. I heard you can buy a special metal piece off of ebay or something that should work to hack the switch?

Sorry for all the questions I just wanna make sure I do everything right and not brick my system.

I have searched and read similar questions like mine, sorry for the repeat but I didn't find a solution,

On Atmosphere, do I need to update the NSP games to their latest update version so I can launch them? can I still keep playing without updating?
The OFW is the latest unfortunately.

And there is no option to play without updating the game.

Firstly, you should never post your full serial online or anywhere else. It is not necessary and you risk leaking your console's private information to other people.

Secondly, if your console is unpatched, then your firmware is irrelevant as the exploit used is based on the hardware of the console. This exploit requires you to insert a piece of metal or something conductive into your right Joy-Con rail to put the console into RCM in order to hack it. On eBay, jigs can be found if you do not have anything conductive at home.

Thirdly, emuMMC is running a copy of your console from an SD card. This can be used to help stave off bans as emuMMC acts like a second console without actually owning one. It does not matter if you use CFW on sysMMC or emuMMC as long as the one where you use CFW does not go online.

Depends. Sometimes the games will still work without the updates, other times the games will ask for updates but still allow you to play them, and there are times where they will not launch without an update.

Hello, I accidentally booted up into CFW on sysnand while migrating SD cards. I feel like an idiot. I did not go online with this and have a backup NAND which I am going to use. The problem that I have is that my raw and bin files are 30gb and exfat format is not working on my switch for some reason because I initialized it. I used the joiner application for joining my files together. Is there a splitter application that will split raw and bin files back to 4gb so I can load it on my fat32 card? Thanks!

Sorry about posting the S/N. I thought about that but I wasn't sure if it mattered. I edited my post now.

So as long as it says it's not patched I should be ok then? what is emuMMC? is that the sysnand/emunand? what is the best guide to use currently for installing cfw?

And just to make sure is this the jig i'm looking for? https://gyazo.com/2adc7b3d66b15167ba59be6331cbeb5c

"It does not matter if you use CFW on sysMMC or emuMMC as long as the one where you use CFW does not go online." so would CFW be on the emunand or sysnand then? I have games i'd still like to play with online so I can still do that and then just play my other stuff offline?

Try using bullet points or number your questions so I can answer them in order.

As I said, if your console is patched, then the firmware is irrelevant as the exploit is based on the hardware of the console.

emuMMC is short for emulated eMMC. The eMMC is the internal memory of your console and what it runs on. Terms such as "sysNAND" or "emuNAND" are not technically correct as the Switch does not use a NAND chip so the correct terms would be sysMMC and emuMMC but to keep things simple, emuNAND and emuMMC are interchangeable.

You do install CFW on the Switch. CFW is merely ran from the SD card when you launch a payload from RCM. You will understand more of what I'm talking about once you setup CFW. As for the best guide, this is the only one I know of that not only helps you with CFW but also emuMMC.

That jig is fine. There is no "best" jig.

And to repeat myself again, it does not matter whether you use sysMMC or emuMMC for CFW. Its personal preference; there is no right or wrong answer.
