So, the thing is i just finished hacking my switch, setting is:
Sysmmc untouched
emummc updated to 8.1.0
The thing is while i wanted to update sysmmc to 9.0.1 for online, i entered OFW via Atmosphere, just enter, and shuting down system.
I updated to 9.0.1 via management, everything went ok, but now i'm scared i'll get ban.
Should i worry?
Thank you

Probably not.
Hello, I have some noob questions here.
1. I suppose that I did finish modding my Switch? I installed Atmosphere in my SD Card and I launch Hekate 5.0.2 payload everytime I want to go into Atmosphere, however this a bit annoying because I have AutoRCM enabled and everytime I turn off my Switch the machine will not boot unless I use my PC to inject a payload, is this the correct way of modding my Switch? Or maybe there is a mod that every time it enters RCM will boot Hekate automatically?

2. I did run Atmosphere CFW with Wi-Fi enabled, I entered airplane mode as soon as I noticed it, I did read that this won't save you if the console did log a unauthorized use or something and sends it to Nintendo, I'm screwed or Atmosphere has some anti ban features in cases like this?

3. A friend told me to use emuMMC for avoiding bans, there I would use Homebrew, NSPs, etc. No online gaming, no playing legit games, I would do all of that using OFW. Is this a good way to go?

4.Is it safe to update sysNAND using atmosphere? I read somewhere that if you do that it will not burn fusees, but I want to be sure.

5.Is it safe to update emuMMC?

6.When I created emuMMC FAT32 partition on my SD Card, it is left with 100% free space under Windows view, is this normal? (I should recheck this, maybe I miswatched because I did this very late and I was tired)

Thank you in advance.
  1. CFW is not really installed. In order for a payload like Hekate to be pushed automatically,it involves installing an internal modchip
  2. The chances of being banned for booting Atmosphere alone are very slim
  3. While this is not why emuMMC was created, it can certainly be used this way
  4. In order to avoid burning fuses while updating sysMMC with Atmosphere, you need AutoRCM enabled. The alternative method of updating without burning fuses is with the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX
  5. The real purpose of emuMMC is for it to run a higher firmware than your sysMMC
  6. Yes it is normal

I'm in panic mode right now, the ban is instantaneous or it need some time? i can enter eshop for the moment.
I have a full backup, but it's on 6.2.0 amd the fuses are burned, so anyways i would have to use CFW to update via choixdujour, but i didn't even enter the homembrew, just realizing and shuting down the system, also, when updated i disabled autorcm to avoid problems with the update.
Thank you and sorry...

Insta-ban is a myth. Bans also widely vary in time happening within a few days to a year or more.

Thanks a lot! Very clear and direct answers.
So, updating emuMMC is perfectly fine, I see.
If I understood correctly, then I can update sysMMC without burning fuses just by running Atmosphere alongside having AutoRCM enabled?
Also, this is dumb, but if I put files inside the "free" partition on my SD Card, will my emuMMC become corrupted?

And finally, what is the correct use, or at least, what use of emuMMC is intended? It is meant for having higher firmware than sysMMC and playing online? And what purpose would sysMMC acomplain here? Being in a lower FW but offline?
Because I currently using emuMMC as a anti ban shield, I use it offline and will do hacking there, but I don't know if this a efficient way.

Thank you.

Yes.

You risk emuMMC being corrupted if the SD card is formatted as exFAT.

Its original purpose is to have a higher firmware than your sysMMC although this is mainly targeted towards owners of patched consoles as they cannot update their sysMMC past a certain firmware lest they lose the ability to load CFW. Unpatched consoles can load any firmware version without losing access to CFW because the exploit they have is hardware-based which is why people use emuMMC as a ban-shield (since they can load even the latest firmware version on sysMMC).

Ah, so emuMMC is targeted to patched consoles due to their limitation with RCM... Makes sense.

Let's say I have a patched Switch, I managed to get CFW running but I want to play online and having homebrew, the method to usiuse be would be a updated emuMMC for online play while keeping the sysMMC in the exploitable firmware, right? Is this dangeorus to do? Or is not a problem to interact with online using emuMMC?

Edit: I forgot... If my partition is bigger than what the actual NAND backup for emuMMC, will that space be wasted?

Thanks, I promise that's the last one!

Correct, patched users can only go online in emuMMC which is not a farfetched idea as 3DS users who owned a Gateway could only play online with emuMMC such as myself.

Also I am not aware of what happens to any extra space that is partitioned when using emuMMC.

Ok I'm running in some issues here:

Using reinx: Release v2.4
Firmware: 8.1.0
Goldleaf: 0.7.3

Trying to install some latest games like monaco but I get the following error:
Key generation incorrect - console firmware too low.

But I'm on the latest supported reinx version.

So now what???

That involves using either Switch LAN Play or Xlink Kai for the Nintendo Switch.

Maybe, if you want to follow a guide to catch you up to speed on the basics of hacking a Switch.

Yeah I ended up having to reread all the guides and familiarize myself again with everything. :D

I got it all up and working except for something strange I can't quite figure out. Used ChoiDujourNX to upgrade to 8.1 and am able to play Zelda just fine but when I go to play Mario Kart 8 it tells me that there is software to download for this title or whatever, as if the firmware isn't up to snuff yet Mario Kart only required 2.2 so I am stumped as to what this could be. Any suggestions?

Switch FW 5.02 Older model Mod capable
SX-OS loader

A while back, I went through the process of making a NAND backup. Then I got lost in the tutorials on the forum.

Forgot about it for a while; BOTW has been a solid time waster for a long time. But I restarted my game after a long time away and somehow the system sees the 2 DLCs (I paid for them) but they are not active for game play for some reason. I don't like to go online with it because I don't know the repercussions of boot loading it to perform the NAND backup while back and to be honest I am ready to start modding the system anyway.

So on to the questions.
What Firmware should I be on? 5.02 Current. Does it matter? How so I approach upgrading if it is needed?
If I mod the system (I have a SX-Pro license) will I be able to play my save game (BOTW) with a backup copy of the game?
Now that there are apparently multiple ways to mod, what tutorial will get me started properly?
Fat32/ExFat; What is the general consensus to the SD Card format at this stage of the game? Mine doesn't have that patch for ExFat....Does it matter?

I am looking for the thread(s) most relevant to the path I need to travel down. I don't expect a long explanation if the thread is already covering the topic, I just need some pointers to do this correctly the first time and links to the info serve me quite well. If there are other things I need to know let me know that too.

Its probably asking for a game update.

I personally recommend firmware 8.1 as firmware 9.X is still a bit unstable for my needs. The best way to update would be by using the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX.

Saves are stored on the system.

There aren't really multiple ways to hack the Switch. Only one new exploit was released which is Deja Vu but its not even compatible with your firmware. Everything else are just variations of Fusee Gelee namely in what you use to send the payload whether its your computer, phone, external dongle, or internal modchip. The process is still the same where you get the console into RCM then send a payload via USB.

FAT32 is hands-down the only format you should be using as not only are there numerous workarounds for the <4GiB limitation depending on the file type but FAT32 cannot corrupt your SD card unlike exFAT.

If you want a simple guide, I recommend following ReiNX

Sorry, I made this issue its own post before I saw this thread

Hello, my switch (9.0.1) won't boot into EmuNAND (haven't tried SysNAND) using AtlasNX/Kosmos while I have my SD card formatted to FAT32. ExFAT works perfectly but I need Fat32 for the ability to dual boot into Lakka. I have tried 2 different 128gb MicroSD cards which work fine on stock switch using FAT32.

When I try and launch EmuNAND the AtlasNX/Kosmos logos are shown but then I get a black screen.

So far I have restored both my pre-hack NAND and boot files after many attempts and different reformatting programs on the SD cards which did not fix the issue.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If possible, can someone explain to me how can I get rid of the message "a system update is required in order to use this software" ?
I simply installed an nsp update in one of my nsp games.

I have found an unpatched unit by searching the serial at a pawn shop - is there anything else i need to check before i purchase to ensure i have a hackable unit?

Either your firmware is way too low. Or you didn't install that update NSP file with firmware spoofing.

Hi, total noob to switch hacks tho done plenty of others in the past.
Just starting things and following a youtube guide ive found. Got homebrew software needed from github but need help before i start because im getting a couple of errors to do with the firmware.
I have set my wifi dns to 163.172.141.219 and 045.172.046.062 as instructed but when i test to see if it will try to update cartridge game i get error code 2016-1100 sayng i need to do a system update to download data and also when i insert a microsd card in it will not register it available until i do a system update. I am on firmware 7.0.0 and i have just got the switch to hack for emu etc so system was completely blanked before I got it today. I have checked already that it was one that can be hacked before buying.
I dont want to go any further with the install before checking things first.
Any help and info greatly appreciated. Cheers.
