Just to emphasise, don’t think that paying makes you entitled to test builds. You’re paying to support m4xw, Patreons occasionally get test builds specifically for the purpose of testing.

Exactly. With how much work is being put into it, there could be a Release very soon where damn near everything is perfectly Playable in it. But there are a couple Games that wont get past the SEGA Logo after the DC Boot Swirl.

I occasionally get that issue. It’s hard to repeat and also occurs in lakka.

A workaround is to load a game from History, open the disc tray then load the image you want from the disc tray menu.

Need Instructions on how to do that. I had Hydro Thunder Loaded, then went to load the NFL Blitz 2000, Reset, then it just got stuck at the SEGA Logo.

Actually, that's a different issue and also occurs with Unreal Tournament. Seems to be a libretro issue because it happens with lakka too.

In core options, switch the Cable Type to VGA (RGB), close content, then reload the game. This works for Unreal Tournament, untested for NFL Blitz 2000.

That does just happen sometimes regardless. Does it crash in the same place every time?
I guess I was able to save the changes for it. Now runs great, except for the Audio sounds like it is stuttering.

EDIT - NFL Blitz 2000 - Game runs great once you get it to run. However there is Sound Stuttering, and when the Midway Logo was to splash on the Screen, there was a Graphical Issue, like it was stuck trying to figure it out (is a 3D Metal M Logo that is supposed to crash to the screen, then fall back, displaying Midway). Because of this, the Game will continue, but you will just hear it. Simply press A or Start to get past this. Otherwise, as far as I can tell, it runs great.

So, because I have nothing going on tonight and money's tight, I decided to buy my boi m4xw a six pack and try out the most recent build (the texinvalidation one, to be precise). And progress is being made, but it's not exactly perfect atm. These are all DC games (in the .gdi format for now, I'll get to downsizing when I feel like wasting a Saturday afternoon or a late night after work), as RetroArch didn't want to cooperate when I tried to load NAOMI games via .bins. Is that where .chd files are absolutely required?

Also, did all of these in handheld mode as my lazy ass didn't feel like walking up to the dock.

Anyways...on with the benchmarks of the games I tried out:

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 works fine in menus...but when you get into the fight itself, the framerate tanks.

Soul Calibur works surprisingly well given how some of the other games I tried turned out regardless of the CPU OC...speaking of which, I had to turn it to the 1785 option to get it to run full speed in handheld mode.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 is where tried to test and eliminate the 3D/2.5D element out of tests, and this is the one that baffled me the most. It ran about as bad as MVC2, except it was also on the menus as well. Not a big loss considering it's just a port of the arcade version (which is better than the PS1 version of the game!), but still, you would think the 3D games would be more demanding than the 2D ones (and MVC1 doesn't have the 2.5D thing going on like CVS2 and MVC2 do...speaking of CVS2...)

Capcom Vs. SNK 2 actually runs better than both of the Marvel Vs. Capcoms for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of characters that need to be called upon? I know that this build has some issue with texture validation that causes games to tank in framerates, but we're talking about framedrops into the 20s in the worst case scenario on all of these Capcom fighters. This one has character sprite issues where MVC1 and 2 didn't, but at least it isn't as bad as the standalone where it was hard to tell who was who if you didn't look at the name underneath the lifebar, and that was if the names weren't the same!

Virtua Tennis is one of the last games I tried. I have more than just these 5 DC games on my microSD card, but I felt like if MVC1 and 2 were giving me the performance problems that they were, then I'm thinking maybe I have something configured wrong, maybe I have to OC the GPU clocks, maybe I have to dock the Switch even though I didn't feel like it at the time, or turning off some settings in RA will help, etc.. 30 frames per second on a 60fps game. Yeah.

Am I doing something(s) wrong here? I know @Smoker1 was having some issues with the Capcom fighters as well (at the very least, the ones least likely to ever get a re-release at this point), but it feels like I got worse performance than he did considering how unplayable it felt like most of these games were outside of SC1 when the CPU on the Switch was OC'ed!

Either way, I'm confident that m4xw and that 6-pack I got him will produce better performance when the build I tried out releases within this week or the next!

Will write down all the items I can in the Morning/Noon. Not sure if it is my BIOS, or any Settings. I try to keep it at Default if I can. But like @sj33 helped me out with, some Games require some tinkering. So, will Note down all the Games I have on my end, and Note the Versions. Also not sure if it is the fact I have mine as .chd instead of .gdi, or .cdi . But the BIOS are the Custom BootROM "jc-bootROM-1.032" by japanese_cake.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong, I think that's the limitation of the emulator right now. Most 3d games will be full or near full speed with OC. But demanding 2d games with tons of sprites and effects will have slowdown, even with full OC.

NOTE - All DC Games are GDIs converted to CHDs. All Settings are untouched unless otherwise specified. Also, the CPU Overclock is set at 1224 MHz

For some reason, .lst Files can not be Loaded. But then again, those are no longer needed. Some Games do not have the Service Button in the Controls Menu, only the Test Button. So any changes you need to make must be set in the PC Version, then take the Save File and move to the Switch RA Folder. Also, there are Game that have too many Button Listings. These will be Noted down for specific Game/s

Intro looks great. However, after letting it run for a while, it starts getting Slowdowns. In-Game, you get Slowdowns. Playable, but it is slow going. Use MAME Files for NAOMI Version. NAOMI Version has slowdown regardless. Use DC Version until slowdowns are Fixed. NO SERVICE BUTTON, and missing certain Buttons. 6 Required, Buttons 3 and 6 Missing

Seems to run Great, except there are a few Sprite Issues. Fighters can be distinguished, but you can tell there are Sprite Issues. Playable. NAOMI - Same as DC Version. NO SERVICE BUTTON.

Runs great. Intro Videos run perfectly, running the Box/Pyramid Games run Great, and CT2 requires only has JP Cheats, but all Regions run the same.

Everything looks perfect. In-Game has some stuttering though. Playable, but the stuttering is annoying.

Runs absolutely perfect. As far as I can tell, there are no Issues. Now if only I can pin down performing a Hydro Jump. Able to get it a few Times, but is hard to do.

Graphics heavy Game. Videos run great, but In-Game, you have some pretty bad slowdowns. Almost coming to being Unplayable depending on the Level / Characters/Moves. Avoid until it is Improved upon. NAOMI Version is the same as DC. NO SERVICE BUTTON

Videos do not show. Just get a Black Screen and only hear the Audio, but sounds like it is stuttering suggesting a slight Slowdown. Otherwise, seems to run perfectly

NOTE - Must set the "Options/Cable Type" to VGA (RGB), or you will not get past the SEGA Logo after the DC Swirl. Thanks to @sj33 for the info on getting it to work. Seems like there is a slight Slowdown, which is why the Audio is Stuttering. Video seems to run great though, like there is no slowdown.

Unable to get to the Menu Screen. Just get to a few Logos and nothing

As @Silent_Gunner mentioned, it runs surprisingly well. The Sound suggests a slight Slowdown. Character Select can not be seen, so unless you know which Character is where, you wont know who you are Selecting, and the same Pattern is seen In-Game Stage. Otherwise, Playable

Seems to run almost perfectly. You do get a stutter at the start of a Round, but then works perfect. All Buttons are present, including Service/Test for changing Menu/Game Settings

Runs surprisingly perfect. Then again, it is a small File, so no surprise there. 3 Buttons only, but 8 Shots showing in Controls.

For SC, you need Render to Texture enabled to see the character select screen, otherwise, only two triangles are seen on screen.

Haven't tried out the new build yet. Will do tonight.

We're still, like, 75% there when it comes to Naomi.

It's SO close but...

Ooooooooooohhhhhh...

Yeah, no wonder this isn't a release yet. Oof.
I can taste the possibility, it's right there and running at fullspeed on stock clocks, but... wow.
This is the most bizarre acid trip I've taken and I only just turned 21.

Annnnd I had to open my big dumb mouth because Dolphin Blue (Atomiswave) and Slashout (Naomi) work perfectly.
But again, it's like... 90% there, it's still a bit choppy with stock clocks - Dolphin Blue being like, half-speed, especially whenever water's involved (which, hence the name, is all the time). But it's so close.
