to add on to what Drax has said if you update to 9.0 before doing anything else then you're SOL until cfw updates
Yeah, Im not worried about that. I just wanted to have my switch on the latest version possible for online gameplay. I do use it a lot with friends and this invite friends to join update sounds nice.

is this a mandatory update? 'cause I was in sleep mode while playing a game. when I awoke the system, there's was no "update system software" message. it didn't appear going into the friends' list either, so I updated by going into system settings (hadn't even been downloaded yet). that's never happened before. maybe it periodically scans for new updates? anyway, once the update has been downloaded, you'll get that message coming back from sleep mode.

I would like to move all into new bigger sd card. I have 64GB right now and I am considering moving all to 256GB. Is is simple copy paste or I have to consider something else, like reinstalling all games etc?

You need to just copy and paste if you do not use Emunand.

The console is always checking for new system updates 24/7/365. However it never automatically installs them. It will always ask for someone's permission whether its you or your pet goldfish.

I went to system update for it to download the update. I was also in sleep mode with bloodstained. waking the system up didn't result in the message about there being a new system update. it was only after downloading the update that that screen about updating appeared. I've noticed that if a game hasn't been played for a while, the system won't download game updates for it. I read that it was normal for some reason. maybe the system update was experiencing something similar?

Does the update somehow affect the atmosphere installation process? I guess I shouldn't update my sysnand normally before intalling cfw, right?

Hey all,

So I have a switch that I boot up with atmosphere so I can use retroarch and thats been the entire use of Homebrew on the console. It's has crashed a few times but as I understand it atmosphere intercepts those crash logs and writes them to the sd card instead of the switch system log. I also unfortunately never created a nand backup before using any Homebrew.

My question is would I be at an low risk of banning if boot into ofw and update my system? I do understand there's always some risk because we don't know exactly what Nintendo is scanning for but are my chances low because of what I used Homebrew for?

Hi all! I had a look through and couldn't find someone in a similar situation to mine.

I have had issues jailbreaking my switch, so I decided to restore nand and do more research before trying again. I have restored nand and boot 0/1 (and verified). Now when I reboot my switch normally, no nintendo sign comes up. Just a black screen. Have I bricked my switch? :(

The Switch does not always automatically download updates. The Switch actually does not always immediately connect to Wi-Fi. Sometimes, it takes a while for it to auto-connect which may have delayed the download process.

Technically, you do not install Atmosphere but the setup is the same on every firmware since the exploit will always work. I personally do not see any reason to update to 9.0 unless you are a die-hard online player and even then, I believe there is still a grace period for 8.1 users to play online.

Yes there is always a risk of connecting a hacked console to Nintendo's servers without a clean NAND dump.

What firmware was your NAND backup on? And what is your current fuse count? You can check with Hekate. If you are having trouble loading Hekate, what was the last firmware you updated officially?

@Draxzelex you're a legend!
Firmware of NAND Backup is 8.1.0.
Burnt Fuses (ODM 7/6): 11 - 0.

Funny thing now is that when I remove the game cartridge, I can boot it in atmosphere and play my bought games. But when I power off then power on normal mode - same issue black screen. Then I reboot with Hekate Kosmos v13-2-1 and Atmosphere 0.9.3 again that works fine. Just cant get the original power up working.

Your current firmware is 8.1 but your fuse count is 11 meaning you can only boot a firmware of 9.0 normally (a full list can be found here). Booting with a custom bootloader bypasses the fuse check which explains why you are able to boot CFW on 8.1 with a fuse count of 11.
Can someone give me a guide to install incognito on atmosphere please
If you really want to use non-Nintendo related online features, use 90DNS

I feel so lost. Every guide I can find says:
  1. Enter RCM and inject the Hekate payload
  2. Use the touch screen to navigate to Tools and then Backup eMMC

In the screenshots and the videos, I see some blueish GUI with a clear icon eMMC. I'm doing just that and enter some text mode, where I can navigate with volume buttons and power button. There's Launch, Tools etc, and looks like this one is the Hekate interface, but no eMMC options there. What am I doing wrong?

What is the best to do... i have an nonpatched No hacked switch ON 8.1. I want a emummc.
First backup ON 8.1 then instal emummc then update to 9.0 ON sysnand? ? Or first update and then emummc? Or beter not update at all but then i cant go online ON sysnand?

based on what I've read, it may be more prudent just to wait 'til it's "all clear."
